COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — In a touching display of leadership and solidarity, Biden fell to the ground yesterday in support of LGBTQ rights. "Taking a knee is not enough anymore," said black gay Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, who is black and gay. "Yesterday, the President showed us all how to respect the queer community by lying prostrate on the ground before thousands of people. Thanks to his demonstration, transgender 5-year-olds now know they aren't alone." Biden reportedly made the gesture after giving a speech at the Air Force Academy graduation ceremony. According to sources, he became so deeply moved by...

You guys, this is getting a little ridiculous. Since when is a pregnant man something we celebrate during pride month? Like, this stuff is straight out of the circus but somehow — and I don't know when it happened — here we are celebrating a chick who cut off her boobs and made herself look like a man and then got herself pregnant. Why? [Warning: Post-Mastectomy Photos] Why are we celebrating this? What makes this progressive? I'm genuinely curious, because I don't think everyday liberals, progressives — whatever they want to call themselves — I don't think they're really into...

Lori Lightfoot is the first Chicago mayor in 40 years to lose re-election. She will now assume a teaching role at Menschel Senior Leadership Fellow at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Ironically, Lightfoot will teach a course titled “Health Policy, and Leadership.” While there are worse choices to educate students about leadership, we can’t think of one off hand. Nonetheless, Michelle A. Williams, Dean of Faculty at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, considers Lightfoot an impressive addition: “I’m delighted to welcome Mayor Lightfoot to Harvard Chan School as a Menschel Senior Leadership Fellow. As mayor,...

This is the shocking moment 13 police officers wrestle with members of the public as they struggle to arrest two suspects at a bus station.

Three World War II veterans, two of them traumatized or disabled, return home to the American midwest to discover that they and their families have been irreparably changed.

When Jeffrey Epstein was booked into Manhattan jail, he revealed in a health screening that he had more than 10 female sexual partners within the past five years and had been previously treated for chlamydia, according to newly-obtained documents. The new revelations about the convicted pedophile’s sexual history were included in 4,000 pages of documents obtained Thursday by the Associated Press from the Bureau of Prisons in response to a Freedom of Information Act request. The trove of paperwork paints a vivid picture of the disgraced billionaire’s physical and mental state, which appeared to be in decline in the weeks...

The mechanism goes as follows: "Large wind turbines logically slow down the wind by sapping the energy out of it. Less wind means less evaporation and thus less precipitation. And if it gets drier, it could just happen that it gets warmer."

OXON HILL, Md. (AP) — Fifteen months ago, Dev Shah spent a miserable five hours spelling outdoors in chilly, windy, damp conditions at a supersize regional competition in Orlando, Florida, only to fall short of his dream of returning to the Scripps National Spelling Bee. “Despondent is the right word,” Dev said. “I just didn’t know if I wanted to keep continuing.” Look at him now. Soft-spoken but brimming with confidence, Dev asked precise questions about obscure Greek roots, rushed through his second-to-last word and rolled to the National Spelling Bee title Thursday night. Dev, a 14-year-old from Largo, Florida,...

[Catholic Caucus] Report: Archbishop Gänswein Ordered to Leave Vatican, Return to Home Diocese Without New RoleAccording to a German newspaper report, Pope Francis ordered Archbishop Georg Gänswein to leave the Vatican and return to Germany by the end of June. The longtime private secretary of Pope Benedict XVI has been told to return to his home diocese of Freiburg in southwest Germany, but has not been given any role or assignment, the Welt newspaper reported on Friday. According to CNA Deutsch, CNA’s German-language partner agency, the report claims Pope Francis informed the 66-year-old Gänswein of his decision during a private...

The Senate voted to overturn President Joe Biden’s student loan forgiveness program Thursday in a symbolic rebuke of the plan that would partially forgive debts of an approximately 40 million borrowers—but despite picking up a few Democratic supporters, the GOP-backed legislation is doomed to fail as Biden has vowed to veto it. The Senate voted 52-46, with Democratic Sens. John Tester (Mont.) and Joe Manchin (W.Va.), along with independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz.), joining Republicans. The vote came less than a week after the GOP-controlled House passed the same measure 218-203, with moderate Reps. Jared Golden (D-Maine) and Marie Gluesenkamp...

A Howard University law professor petitioned a United Nations (U.N.) tribunal to pay every black American $5 million in reparations — a proposal that would not need taxpayer approval. On Friday, Justin Hansford, a leading scholar in critical race theory, addressed the U.N. tribunal in New York City during the Permanent Forum on People of African Descent, the Daily Mail reported. The forum will last four days, ending on June 2. David Comissiong, representing Barbados, proposed it. Hansford was joined by colleagues from the University of Pittsburgh and Columbia University in his plea that the United States government atone for...

Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer pushed through legislation on Thursday waiving the nation’s debt limit until January 2025, overcoming obstacles put up by defense hawks, deficit hardliners, and even environmentalist Democrats. Late in the evening, the Senate comfortably passed the debt limit deal struck by President Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, mostly doing so with Democratic votes. The 63-36 vote came only days before the June 5 deadline by which Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen had warned the debt limit must be raised to avert a first-ever default on the nation’s ability to pay its debts. “America can breathe...

Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wis.), a longtime critic of former President Donald Trump, said that she has not ruled out a 2024 bid for president. “I’m not making any announcements today,” she said while speaking at an event at the Mackinac Policy Conference in Michigan, adding: “I am really focused on making sure that Donald Trump isn’t anywhere close to the Oval Office.” Cheney was on the House select committee that probed the Jan. 6 attacks on the Capitol and has voiced her criticism for the former president’s involvement in the attacks. She also said that she will campaign against...

President Biden’s Secretary for Veteran Affairs, Denis McDonough, alerted all VA-owned facilities that he authorized them to fly the Pride flag for up to 30 days in June. McDonough served in the Obama administration as chief of staff at the National Security Council from 2009 to 2010, as Principal Deputy National Security Advisor between 2010 to 2013, then as Obama White House Chief of Staff between 2013 to 2017. He became the second non-veteran ever to lead the Department of Veteran Affairs in 2020. This week, the Biloxi, Mississippi National Cemetery chose to replace one of its four American flags...

Training for Ukrainian forces on advanced U.S. Abrams tanks has begun, and while those systems will not be ready in time for the imminent counteroffensive, those weapons will be critical in the longer-term to Ukraine ultimately pushing Russia out of its occupied territories, Joint Chiefs chairman Gen. Mark Milley said. Tank training began as the U.S. and allies began to work out agreements to train Ukrainians on F-16 fighter jets — another long-wished-for advanced capability. Ultimately, while the tanks are needed to expel Russian forces from Ukrainian territory, the F-16s would be part of a longer-term security plan to deter...

Filaments In Space - MeerKAT data of the orientations of all the filaments, color-coded with position angles. (Farhad Yusef-Zadeh/Northwestern University) *********************************************************** An investigation into the mystery filaments hanging in space around the heart of the Milky Way has turned up an entirely new population of them, aligned along the galactic plane and pointing in the direction of the galactic center. The magnetized strands are likely the remnants of an outflow from the supermassive black hole Sagittarius A* interacting with the surrounding gas a few million years ago, says astrophysicist Farhad Yusef-Zadeh of Northwestern University. Although Sgr A* is pretty quiet...

When debt ceiling negotiations reached a fever pitch, President Biden made a crucial mistake. To steal a word coined by former President George W. Bush, he severely misunderestimated the strategic prowess of Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (Calif.). In doing so, Biden inadvertently paved the way for McCarthy and the Republican Congress to achieve remarkable conservative victories that will have a lasting impact on the nation. House Republicans’ shrewd maneuvering resulted in the largest reduction in spending in history — a rollback of nondefense spending to fiscal 2022 levels, the implementation of work requirements for government benefit programs, and the...
