The U.S. Supreme Court in a 5–4 decision reined in the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) effort to impose extensive federal land use regulation through its broad interpretation of the Clean Water Act (CWA). The decision in the case of Sackett v. EPA turns on the question of the proper definition of the term "the waters of the United States" (WOTUS). Interestingly, all the justices concurred in the judgment that plaintiffs Michael and Chantell Sackett's property and actions were not covered by the CWA. In the case, the Sacketts had purchased property near Priest Lake, Idaho, and began backfilling the lot...

The 15-year-old Ukrainian schoolgirl was taken one warm morning last October. Like everyone else in Kherson, a city on the estuary of the Dnipro river in southern Ukraine, Yevheniia's family were still adjusting to life under Russian control. Putin's tanks and troops had poured into the city seven months earlier, soon after the invasion of Ukraine began. Now there were checkpoints, military police, rumours of Russian brutality; of women being raped. Ukraine was fighting to get the city back and there was a constant risk of shelling. Few people went out after 5pm. In the apartment where the teenager lived...

A peer-reviewed study in the Journal of Information Warfare (JIW) confirms a “Loss of Control” breach has occurred in the NYSVoter Database. A peer-reviewed paper of their results in a respected journal is a hard-won and “significant milestone,” according to Marly Hornik, Executive Director of the NY Citizens Audit. The audit of the voter rolls was led by Marly Hornik and Andrew Paquette, Ph.D., Director of Research, who submitted the paper to JIW. Mark Levin, who hosts Life, Liberty & Levin on Fox News, tweeted a link to Ron DeSantis’ presidential campaign fundraising page shortly after the Florida governor announced his candidacy on Wednesday. The post did not go over well with supporters of former President Donald Trump, who is also running for the Republican nomination. DeSantis officially announced in a glitch-ridden Twitter Spaces event that was delayed by about 20 minutes because the platform’s servers couldn’t handle the uptick in traffic. While DeSantis supporters cast the crash as a testament to the governor’s popularity, one former Twitter employee told CNN that Spaces...

IN HIS BATTLE against Ron DeSantis for the 2024 nomination, Donald Trump and his allies believe they’ve found a new weapon in their effort to bury the Florida governor. His name is Vivek Ramaswamy, a 37-year-old “anti-woke” entrepreneur .. who vows to be even Trumpier than Trump. The explanation for the former president’s interest in Ramaswamy’s campaign is simple: The insurgent candidate has spent much of his run for office trashing Trump’s top rival, DeSantis. As Ramaswamy’s poll numbers and standing in the primary have risen a bit in recent weeks, so has Trump’s interest. The former president has praised...

DeSantis supporter hypocrisy lesson: “Thank you, Dr. Birx. Our commitment to high-volume testing and a data-driven approach has helped us flatten the curve.” - DeSantis Read the comments, not favorable for DeSantis. Many other examples of DeSantis misrepresenting his ‘stance’ on COVID exist as well. Guaranteed Trump will point out every lie DeSantis is peddling during the primary. It will be brutal for DeSantis the typical politician who says a lot without anything concrete. For the nonbelievers here, check out twitter, the lies are already being exposed there by many every day. The dirt is there but not seen or...

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on Thursday urged Latino voters not to back Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the next U.S. presidential election, accusing the Republican politician of trying to win votes at the expense of migrants. DeSantis said Wednesday he would seek the 2024 Republican nomination for president and vowed to build a wall on the Mexico border, the latest in a series of hardline comments on immigration that he says resonate with Latino voters who want strong enforcement.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton teetered on the brink of impeachment Thursday after years of scandal, criminal charges and corruption accusations that the state’s Republican majority had largely met with silence until now. In an unanimous decision, a Republican-led House investigative committee that spent months quietly looking into Paxton recommended impeaching the state’s top lawyer. The House could vote on the recommendation as soon as Friday. If it impeaches Paxton, he would be forced to leave office immediately. The move sets set up what could be a remarkably sudden downfall for one of the GOP’s most prominent legal combatants, who...

Scientists found that microbe fragments called endotoxin enter the blood stream and directly impact how well fat cells function, including their capacity to be metabolically active. The normal gut contains microorganisms that have essential roles in human health. In obesity, however, the wall of the gut can become impaired and leaky, allowing release of these bacterial fragments into the blood, where they go on to travel through the body to different tissues. Dysfunctional body fat is known to contribute to metabolic disease, including type 2 diabetes. Using a series of experiments they found that fat cells are significantly damaged by...
