California’s cannabis industry is in a free-fall, with some municipalities in the northern part of the state making plans for significantly reduced tax revenues as a result of a collapse in wholesale prices. Once selling for more than $4,000 per pound, bulk buyers are now shopping in the $300 to $500 range for fresh harvests, according to experts, and some growers reported clearing out their crops for less than $200 per pound for fear of being stuck with product. The price represents a sharp drop from recent years, according to industry insiders. “It’s been a steady decline since we got...

Scott Winkler, who lives in the area, has been a loyal customer of the Rite Aid store for three years. He recently found out the pharmacy was closing, leaving him and other residents in the neighborhood without easy access to essential medications. "Somebody has to stand up for what's right, and that is a pharmacy that is an intricate part of this area," Winkler said. "Now it's gone, and the only thing we have left is Family Dollar — and hopefully they won't close." With the pharmacy closing, Winkler will no longer be able to walk over to get his...

2 Corinthians 4:18 16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. Now, that is not an outter seeing, that's an inner seeing because if it's unseen then...

What a dystopian nightmare watching “America’s Doctor” try to continue his Covid victory tour. It is both shocking and unsurprising that he would do this despite leaving a generation of children with lower IQ scores, a US life expectancy which dropped three years in the span of two, hundreds of thousands of deaths from the vaccines amongst working-age Americans (threatening the life insurance industry), millions of vaccine injured, skyrocketing disability rates, an explosion of cancers, and suddenly plummeting birth rates. So I went after him. Again. Maybe he will get the memo this time, particularly in light of the frosty...

Former President Donald Trump says President Joe Biden has "greatly insulted" the U.K. people by skipping King Charles III's coronation Saturday. "Good Luck and Best Wishes to the wonderful new King and Queen of The United Kingdom," Trump posted to Truth Social. "You are two very Special People. May your Reign be a Long and Glorious One. GOD BLESS YOU BOTH!!!" But the praise was not effusive for Trump's political rival. "Joe Biden should have been at the Coronation of King Charles III," Trump wrote in another Truth Social post. "Is that really so much to ask? The people of...

Just how bad are things for Fox News? On Thursday, Megyn Kelly shared the shocking data behind the network’s primetime collapse, and it shows that the fall is much steeper than many suspected it would be. ... At the heart of the matter is the recent firing of Tucker Carlson, once the highest-rated host on cable news. He was unceremoniously dumped for as-yet unconfirmed reasons ... They’ve lost almost two-thirds of the audience that helps pay their bills. They’re left with about a one-third of their audience. I mean, that’s stunning, and I looked up and down the board at...

"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." The French psychiatrist Jacques-Joseph Moreau published a book called Hashish and Mental Illness in 1845, the same year that Scientific American brought out its first issue. In it, he explored his own experiences with the drug cannabis at the Paris-based Club des Hachichins—some of which took place alongside the likes of Victor Hugo, Honoré de Balzac and Charles Baudelaire. Two years earlier Moreau described the “undescribable delights” of a “marvelous substance.” But in his 1845 book, he noted in great clinical detail the similarities to psychosis when ingesting high doses. Nearly two centuries later the possible link between cannabis use...

Save Share Bank runs are always extraordinary. But the first bank run of the social media age has been something else. The speed with which Silicon Valley Bank collapsed on Friday night under the staggering weight of $US42 billion ($63 billion) of withdrawals, and then had its depositors bailed out on Sunday night in similarly short order, is in part due to the power of social media, and the speed with which information travels across it.
