BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A judge canceled the air quality permit for a natural gas power plant that’s under construction along the Yellowstone River in Montana citing worries over climate change. State District Judge Michael Moses ruled Thursday that Montana officials failed to adequately consider the 23 million tons of planet-warming greenhouse gases that the project would emit over several decades. Many utilities across the U.S. have replaced coal power with less polluting natural gas plants in recent years. But the industry remains under pressure to abandon fossil fuels altogether as climate change worsens. The $250 million plant is being...

"Due to the intense cold of these days, Pope Francis will follow the Way of the Cross this evening from (the) Santa Marta hotel, uniting in prayer with those who will gather with the Diocese of Rome at the Colosseum,'' the Vatican said in a brief statement. Francis went ahead with an early evening prayer service at St. Peter's Basilica...

More that 1,300 offshore workers are to stage a 48-hour strike in a dispute over pay. Unite warned that dozens of oil and gas platforms will be brought to a “standstill” by the walkout from April 24. The union has previously warned of a “tsunami” of industrial unrest in the offshore sector over pay and conditions. Unite general secretary, Sharon Graham, said: “Oil and gas companies in the offshore sector are enjoying record windfall profits. “There’s no question that contractors and operators can easily afford to give Unite members a decent pay rise. “The scale of corporate greed in the...

Former President Donald Trump has dubbed his 2024 campaign as the "final battle" for the country's democracy, and bestselling author David Horowitz, whose book "Final Battle: The Next Election May Be the Last," tells Newsmax that the charges against Trump show how the Democrats are endangering the nation's democracy. Horowitz, appearing Tuesday on "The Chris Salcedo Show" on Newsmax, noted that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, as part of his claims against Trump, accused the former president of election interference, but he has not shown that. Important: Trump's 'Final Battle' refers to David Horowitz's new book exposing the dangers he...

Cultural Marxism is dystopia peddling utopia through grievance narratives and rank emotionalism, the hallmarks of transgenderism. ... In a surreal moment at the Country Music Awards last week, co-host Kelsea Ballerini joined with several drag performers to belt out a campy version of her single, “If You Go Down (I’m Goin’ Down Too),” an anthem taking aim at Tennessee laws denying wrongly named “gender-affirming care” for children. The performance was steeped in queerness, both in the pretend “oppression” of performers literally center stage at a nationally-broadcast awards show and in the academic sense, where drag serves as a kind of...

Ron DeSantis is escalating his war with Walt Disney, threatening to tax its hotels and impose tolls on the roads leading into its theme parks as the Florida governor doubles down in his battle against 'woke' culture. 'Come hell or high water, we’re going to make sure that policy of Florida carries the day. And so, they can keep trying to do things. But ultimately, we’re going to win on every single issue involving Disney, I can tell you that,' he vowed during a speech at Hillsdale College in Michigan on Thursday. 'They are not superior to the people of...

Vaccines against cancer and heart disease could be ready by the end of the decade, according to Moderna's chief executive. Dr Paul Burton, said the advancements made in the field of mRNA — the technology used to make his company's flagship Covid shot — has ushered in a golden era of vaccines. He predicts that by 2030 there will be vaccines for 'all sorts' of incurable conditions, saving 'hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of lives.' Early studies have already shown 'tremendous promise', he added. But they are not likely to be your typical vaccine — they will need to...

Hunter Biden's top criminal defense lawyer was himself scrutinized by the Justice Department after he allegedly represented a suspected Chinese spy, court documents reveal. Abbe Lowell, Hunter's hotshot attorney, has allegedly represented three Chinese 'agents' and was questioned by prosecutors over potential conflicts of interest for these former legal representations. Lowell is currently battling investigations by the FBI and the House Oversight Committee into the First Son's shady dealings with CEFC, a Chinese oil giant with corrupt executives and close links to the nation's Communist Party.

Ron DeSantis has joined Donald Trump's call to defund the Justice Department and FBI over its 'weaponization' of the legal system by its investigations of the former president. The Florida governor also attacked Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who indicted Trump earlier this week, saying 'if we had somebody in Tampa that was trying to pursue that agenda, I'd yanked him from his position.' DeSantis' tough talk comes as polls show that, even in the wake of his indictment, Trump leads him in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. DeSantis has not officially announced he's running but is widely...

The House Oversight Committee issued subpoenas to banks asking for the Biden family's financial records. Fox News has confirmed that the Oversight Committee subpoenaed Bank of America, Cathay Bank, JPMorgan Chase, HSBC USA N.A., as well as former Hunter Biden business associate Mervyn Yan asking for financial records. Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., the top Democrat on the Oversight Committee, complained that Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., was trying to hide information regarding the investigation from Democrats on the committee. In a statement to Fox News, Comer said "Ranking Member Raskin has again disclosed Committee’s subpoenas in a cheap attempt to...

Biden is pushing his expected 2024 campaign kickoff even later in the year — and may even delay it until this fall, according to a new report. Advisers and close allies of the oldest-ever president told Axios they don’t expect Biden to formally announce his candidacy before this summer — despite their initial suggestions late last year that he would announce soon after the start of 2023. The second political fundraising quarter ends June 30, giving Biden plenty of time to rake in donations before an announcement — and some members of his team are pushing to hold the launch...

Top Secret documents detailing the state of readiness of Ukraine’s forces as well as detailed planning information around equipment inflow, weather, ammunition expenditure, training and much more have been circulating on Telegram and Twitter. The documents titled "Russia / Ukraine | Status of the Conflict as of 1 Mar" appears to be a daily briefing document with a classification higher than top secret, giving clues to the sources of the information within it, and a caveat of "NOFORN," which means No Foreign Dissemination, so for US eyes only. Some of the pages have lesser classifications and are designed for release...

Chicago's incoming liberal mayor has raised eyebrows by blaming the city's poverty problems and surging crime rates on businesses that don't pay tax. Brandon Johnson, a former union organizer who was elected on Tuesday, said Chicago doesn't have money to solve its problem because '70 percent of large corporations in the state of Illinois don't pay a corporate tax'. 'It's that type of restraint on our budget that has caused the type if disinvestment that has led to poverty, of course that has led to violence,' said Johnson, who didn't give the source for his claim. The 47-year-old Cook County...

Former Arizona GOP gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake said on Thursday that it would be a “big red flag” if any 2024 Republican presidential candidate did not believe her 2022 Arizona election was stolen. “I ask you that every candidate who comes through — when they stand on this stage, when they’re shaking your hand, when they’re walking through town, taking your questions — that you ask them where they stand on election integrity,” Lake said at a local GOP event in Nevada, Iowa. “And I think you should get even more specific, ‘Was the 2022 election for governor in Arizona...

By taking aim at a process common across many viruses, the drug could one day stop any number of known viruses — and new ones. It’s about as audacious an idea as you can find in the world of infectious disease: a broad-spectrum antiviral — a “penicillin for viruses.” The stakes are incredibly high. The yearly tide of seasonal flu causes three to five million severe cases annually, killing hundreds of thousands of people. The “break-bone fever” of dengue virus threatens roughly half the world’s population. 350 million people today are living with hepatitis B or C, leading to millions...
