Few parts in the history of Hollywood have been as good as Michael Corleone. As the initially reluctant replacement for his father in The Godfather trilogy, Corleone’s transformation into a sinister power-hungry mob boss is one of the most intriguing character arcs in film history. Al Pacino himself isn’t ignorant of the effect that the film had on his career, as he explained to The New York Times back in 2022 to celebrate the film’s 50th anniversary. “I’m here because I did The Godfather,” Pacino explained during his interview. “For an actor, that’s like winning the lottery. The four-day workweek bill is back, but will it garner enough support from lawmakers this time around? Democratic Congressman Mark Takano of California has reintroduced the 32-Hour Workweek Act. The legislation aims to amend the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and reduce the standard workweek from five days to four days, with no change to employee pay. Rep. Takano says it's a necessary culture shift that would give American workers more time for family, leisure and education. "Workers across the nation are collectively reimagining their relationship to labor — and our laws need to follow suit,” Takano said. “We have...

On Tenth Anniversary, Pope Francis Faces Increasing Opposition...The pope’s endless off-the-cuff comments and in-flight interviews have blurred the line between official magisterial declarations and mere unreflective papal spitballing, leaving many wondering how seriously they are to take the pope’s verbal musings. These unedited comments have also resulted in fairly frequent unintended offense, such as when Francis called women theologians “the strawberries on the cake,” when he told large families they needn’t “breed like rabbits,” or when he asserted that the “cruelest” soldiers in Ukraine are not ethnic Russians but outsiders like “the Chechens” and “the Buryati” who fight on Russian...

Few comedy actors can claim to have had such an impact on the world as the late Robin Williams. He began his career as a stand-up comedian and became well-revered for his improvisational and impressional skills through the 1970s. Williams’ work throughout the 1980s saw him traverse to the big screen as he scooped up accolades left, right and centre for his acting talents. Williams is remembered as a comedy actor, but just as quickly as he could make us laugh, he could make us cry. Towards the late 1980s and early ’90s, his acting roles began to take on...
