A group of House Democrats is reviving an effort to give a pathway to citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants who are already in the U.S. by updating a nearly century-old registry to allow for their statuses to be adjusted. Six Democrats this week reintroduced the Renewing Immigration Provisions of the Immigration Act of 1929. The bill would update a status adjustment process — commonly known as the registry — that allows for those in the country illegally before a certain date to have their status regularized. The registry was last updated in 1986 and at that time allowed for...

Political Centrists come in various forms. There are plenty of Democratic Centrists who may differ from their lefty brethren on all sorts of issues, but not their allegiance to the Democratic Party. Think Bill Clinton, Tim Kaine, Amy Klobuchar, Pete Buttigieg, and Joe Biden (some put every Democratic presidential nominee from 1980 to 2020 in the Centrist tribe). There are Republican Centrists too, though they have been RINO-hunted into near extinction lately; Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, Phil Scott, and Larry Hogan are the last remnants of this once robust brand. Beyond these loose groups are independent Centrists. These folks believe...

The Silicon Valley Bank meltdown may incite the Federal Reserve to cut rates by 100 basis points by December to prevent contagion in the financial system, Larry McDonald said. That would mark a sharp reversal from the central bank's current course of aggressive tightening to rein in inflation. Rate hikes totaling 450 basis points over the past year have made returns on short-term Treasurys more attractive, draining deposits from banks like SVB, the founder of "The Bear Traps Report" told CNBC on Friday. "In essence, the Fed is causing this bank run," he said. Shares of Silicon Valley Bank crashed...

An NYC woman was certain she was qualified for the high-paying position she spotted on LinkedIn — because she was already doing the work. UX writer Kimberly Nguyen, 25, went viral for claiming she applied for a similar job at her company that is being offered for a much higher salary. The move comes months after a new law took effect that requires most NYC employers to list “good faith” salary ranges for any posting for a new job.

Ripping: Video Jitters You rip a video and it is fully of jitters. Every now and then the video pauses. Maybe for just enough to notice, but sometimes for what seems like a long time. What causes video jitters while encoding them? The Number 1 Cause: Overclocking Most of the systems we use today are built on gaming computers. The first core is built to handle the overclocking most folks give it. The subsequent cores can only handle the overclocking for shorter periods of time as the game gets more intense. This is very scary for athletes and parents of kids who play on artificial turf.If you played a youth field sport at any level you probably had at least some contact with artificial turf. Now there are serious concerns about long-term exposure to the playing surface. Six former Philadelphia Phillies players, Tug McGraw, Darren Daulton, John Vukovich, John Oates, Ken Brett, and David West have died due to glioblastoma, a rare form of brain cancer that seems to indicate a link in their environment — with the turf inside of Veteran’s Stadium from 1971-2003 being a common factor. A ranging...

Sir Michael Caine has responded to the claim that his 1964 film Zulu incites the far-right, calling it “XXXXXXXX”. Earlier this year, the film was cited as a “key text” for “white nationalists/supremacists” during a review into the government’s counter-terrorism programme Prevent. Speaking to The Spectator, Caine revealed he got the part of arrogant, inexperienced Lieutenant Gonville Bromhead in Zulu after playing “a cockney bloke in the West End in a play called Next Time I’ll Sing To You.” “An American director who was in the audience saw me and gave me a part in the film Zulu as a...
