You’re not going to believe this, but Elizabeth Banks has never done cocaine. “I took ‘Just say no’ to heart,” Banks says over breakfast in Beverly Hills. Growing up in western Massachusetts and moving to New York City to break into acting, the 48-year-old Banks had many opportunities to, you know, do some blow, but she claims she never took them. She says it was just too risky. “Being a goody-two-shoes played into it,” she says. “Personal safety played a big role in it. I was a cocktail waitress for years. And I was not interested in not being sober...

The “Saturday Night Live” post-production editors are looking to NBC for answers as contract talks continue, and are ready to strike if their requests aren’t met. On Jan. 12, the 20-odd “SNL” staff members who create the live sketch comedy series’ pre-taped segment approved a strike authorization vote. The editors unionized with the Motion Picture Editors Guild last October. Sources tell Variety that although bargaining sessions have been taking place to seek a fair contract, no agreement has been reached. As previously reported, there is still no framework for a contract in place and sticking points remain, notably around the...

“We must have faith to rebuild the village, and you are a sign of that faith,” Archbishop Thabet told dozens of Dominican sisters gathered for the inauguration of their new Convent of Saint Joseph. Batnaya used to be an important hub of Christian life on the Nineveh Plain, in northern Iraq. Around 5,000 Christians, almost all Chaldean Catholics, lived in the village in 2014, but the entire population had to flee when terrorists from the Islamic State (ISIS) overran the region in August of that year. The jihadist terror group was eventually defeated, but the buildings, including two important churches,...

Fauci Says Covid Vax Hardly Works Alex Berenson | In fact, a bombshell paper he co-authored last month suggests ALL vaccines for common respiratory viruses may face intractable hurdles. And that's not even the worst news. I'm not exaggerating.Last month, three scientists pointed out flu shots barely work and couldn’t be approved based on the standards used for vaccines like measles:“After more than 60 years of experience with influenza vaccines, very little improvement in vaccine prevention of infection has been noted… our best approved influenza vaccines would be inadequate for licensure for most other vaccine-preventable diseases.” [emphasis added]True. Several rigorous...

A call for freedom of expression, the 1982 hit was written in protest to club security. With its propulsive opening and declarative lyrics, Men Without Hat’s “The Safety Dance” remains an undeniable hit. A club floor-filler with an anti-establishment bent. The “man” in this case? Club bouncers who had no time for New Wave’s misfits. In 1982, the pop music landscape was changing. Disco was on its way out, and New Wave had sprung up to take its place. This was by no means a smooth translation, and along with a new style of music came a new subculture and style...

The Capitol riot trial for Proud Boys leaders promised to be a historic showcase for some of the most compelling evidence of an alleged plot by far-right extremists to halt the transfer of presidential power after the 2020 election. One month into the trial, there have been plenty of fireworks, but mostly when the jury wasn’t in the courtroom. Lawyers representing the five Proud Boys charged with seditious conspiracy have repeatedly sparred with U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly during breaks in testimony. At least 10 times, those lawyers have argued in vain for him to declare a mistrial. The judge...
