I am pretty technical. I was surprised that shrink to fit became a talking point at the hearing on Thursday in Maricopa County. I primarily know of one program that offers a shrink to fit option: Excel. Shrink to fit is, in my understanding, an application-level setting. Some copiers have a shrink to fit option, but it takes a literal picture and resizes it. That process does take some time and computing resources, and that copier is usually on the expensive side of the equation. What I missed Thursday is where they allege that the shrink to fit option was...

Despite everything we have learned about the vaccine’s mediocre efficacy and serious risks, one hospital is determined to let a girl die if she remains unvaxxed. Who would have ever thought that, in the United States of America, a sick child would be denied lifesaving medical treatment solely because she wasn’t vaccinated against COVID-19? Yulia is the adopted daughter of two military veterans, Chrissy and Lee Hicks. Duke University Hospital is cruelly denying her a kidney transplant because she is unvaxxed. This is happening despite our knowing so much more about COVID treatments, including how mask mandates and social distancing...

A true story of the Mariupol siege and its heroic defenders I was waiting for an arrival of a delayed flight from Warsaw in the heart of Ben Gurion Airport. People around eagerly awaited their beloved ones from abroad. Everything around was the usual airport routine. But we were waiting for extraordinary guests from Ukraine – Lt. Illia Samoilenko (Special Operations Detachment “Azov”) and Yulia Fedosiuk (deputy head of The Association of Azovstal Defenders Families). This is their first joint mission abroad as representatives of both military and civil parts of the Azovstal defenders movement. I would also say that...

Wieambilla, Queensland, police killing scene, shortly after the event A bizarre police killing in a sparsely populated part of Queensland, about 170 miles northwest of Brisbane, Australia, happened on Monday, December 12. The accused police killers had all worked for the Queensland Department of Education. Two were brothers, Nathaniel and Gareth. Gareth was married to Stacy, who had been married to Nathaniel. Both Nathaniel and Stacy were school principals at one time. Gareth resigned from his school position in 2016, Nathaniel in 2020, and Stacey in December of 2021, reportedly because of the mandatory Covid vaccination policy. Both Nathaniel and...

An experiment to bounce a radio signal off an asteroid on Dec. 27 will serve as a test for probing a larger asteroid that in 2029 will pass closer to Earth than the many geostationary satellites that orbit our planet. The High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program research site in Gakona will transmit radio signals to asteroid 2010 XC15, which could be about 500 feet across. The University of New Mexico Long Wavelength Array near Socorro, New Mexico, and the Owens Valley Radio Observatory Long Wavelength Array near Bishop, California, will receive the signal. This will be the first use of...

Even as President Joe Biden and ex-President Donald Trump move toward a rerun of the most turbulent White House race in modern history, many voters are pining for a break from the past – and the present. A new CNN/SSRS poll shows that 6 in 10 Republicans and GOP-leaning independents want their party to nominate someone other than Trump in 2024. A similar slice on the other side hopes for a nominee other than Biden. Those findings suggest that voters are ready for the days of presidential campaigns when one generation passed the torch to the next. A Biden versus Trump...

ANALYSIS Left unaddressed, gaslighting can take a significant toll on your self-esteem and overall mental health You are overthinking... We all have often come across phrases in our daily life at least once or on repeated terms such as -- You have always been crazy; I don’t know what you want me to say; It’s your fault; Everyone agrees with me; That’s not how it happened; Your memory seems to be slipping; I did that because I was trying to help you. Such phrases undermine our trust and belief. The more we hear them, the more we stop trusting ourselves....

There’s bad news and there’s good news for Washington’s anti-monopoly movement. The bad news is that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has done precisely what many long feared he would: While rhetorically supporting two bipartisan antitrust bills targeting Big Tech for months, he effectively killed the effort by never bringing the legislative package for a vote on the Senate floor in the final days of the congressional term.... .....As a consolation, Schumer put an extra $85 million into the nation’s two antitrust enforcement agencies: $50 million to the Federal Trade Commission and $35 million to the Department of Justice’s Antitrust...

Hong Kong CNN — Almost 250 million people in China may have caught Covid-19 in the first 20 days of December, according to an internal estimate from the nation’s top health officials, Bloomberg News and the Financial Times reported Friday. If correct, the estimate – which CNN cannot independently confirm – would account for roughly 18% of China’s 1.4 billion people and represent the largest Covid-19 outbreak to date globally. The figures cited were presented during an internal meeting of China’s National Health Commission (NHC) on Wednesday, according to both outlets – which cited sources familiar with the matter or...

SHANGHAI/TAIPEI, Dec 24 (Reuters) - China expressed anger on Saturday at a new U.S. defence authorisation law that boosts military assistance for Taiwan, while Taipei cheered it for helping boost the island's security. Archaeologists in northern Iraq, working on the Mashki and Adad gate sites in Mosul that were destroyed by Islamic State in 2016, recently uncovered 2,700-year-old Assyrian reliefs. Featuring war scenes and trees, these rock carvings add to the bounty of detailed stone panels excavated from the 1840s onwards, many of which are currently held in the British Museum. They stem from the ancient city of Nineveh which, for a time, was likely the most dazzling in the world. There is evidence of occupation at the site already by 3,000 BC, an era known as the late Uruk period. But it...

Border patrol officers on the southern border caught 233,740 illegal immigrants crossing over from Mexico last month. The figure is the highest number of illegal border crossings ever recorded for November underscoring the chaos that exists even while the Title 42 pandemic border expulsion policy has been delayed. The Department of Homeland Security announced the numbers quietly on in a Friday night data dump.
  • Whoopi Goldberg DEFENDS Holocaust slur that got her taken off-air by The View: Tells interviewer mass-extermination wasn't 'racial' to begin with and insists being Jewish isn't a race

Whoopi Goldberg has once again claimed that the Holocaust was not about race, insisting the Nazis 'were not killing racial' and repeating the argument that saw her suspended in February from her $8 million-a-year role hosting talk show The View. The Oscar-winning actress was suspended from The View in February for saying the Holocaust was not about race, but rather 'white on white' violence and 'man's inhumanity to man' - and the interviewer was told in advance not to discuss the chat show. Yet Goldberg readily repeated her controversial comments, when it was pointed out that the Nazis certainly believed...

Can supercooled running water freeze due to a pressure change? Thursday I spent almost all day prepping for our "Arctic blast" that rolled in late in the afternoon. (Most impressive!) Among many other things, I checked to make sure the small thermostatically controlled heating element under our water tank was plugged in. (The wellhouse is part of but outside our house proper.) I ended up getting to sleep around 2 am -- exhausted & filthy I just crashed out on the carpet in the LR. (With all my warm clothes on it was quite comfy.) I woke up ~8 am:...
