Staffers at The Washington Post are livid at publisher Fred Ryan. That's according to conversations I had on Wednesday with nearly a dozen employees at The Post who expressed fury at the way Ryan announced in a town hall that the company would undergo layoffs in early 2023. Ryan said that the layoffs would only amount to a single-digit percentage of the workforce and that the overall size of the company would not shrink, given there would be reinvestments in other areas. But none of that quelled outrage from staffers. The staffers at The Post, who were already seeking answers...

Below is an income tax table I found online. It's kind of shocking. I'm starting to distrust online sources - wondering if anyone on Free Republic would be able to verify its accuracy:

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) - After more than three decades, authorities have apprehended one of Massachusetts’ most wanted fugitives. Investigators first received word in 2014 that Garcia may have fled to a remote location in his native Guatemala. We are persistent, and we never cease in our efforts to secure justice for victims,” Massachusetts State Police Colonel Christopher Mason said. “The fact that we...

President Biden on Thursday mocked former President Trump for teasing a “major announcement” that turned out to be a new line of digital Trump trading cards. “I had some MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENTS the last couple of weeks, too…” Biden tweeted from his personal account. The president listed a consumer price report that showed inflation easing in recent weeks, the signing of legislation to protect same-sex marriage, a prisoner swap that brought home WNBA star Brittney Griner after months of being imprisoned in Russia and falling gas prices as notable achievements for the White House in recent days. I had some MAJOR...

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Wednesday predicted that Democrats will keep holding on to the Senate through the 2024 presidential elections. “I absolutely do, if we stick to our North Star, which is, help people with things that they need help with,” Schumer told NBC News. Democrats fended off the Republicans’ hoped-for “red wave” during this year’s midterms and bucked the historical precedent of a sitting party losing big in the off-year elections. The party kept the Republicans’ takeover of the House to a minimum and then expanded their majority in the Senate, bumping up their upper chamber...

Donald Trump left his supporters on the edge of their seats when he touted a 'major announcement' just weeks after he revealed his run for president again in 2024. Speculation swirled that it could be the announcement of a rally after a pause since the midterms or a move that could upend the Republican primaries. Despite the anticipation, it turned out to be a line of his own digital trading cards, costing $99 each and featuring him in various poses - including Superman and as a cowboy with a hunting rifle. 'They will be gone, I believe, very quickly!' Trump...

“‘The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field; and this is smaller than all other seeds, but when it is full grown, it is larger than the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches’” (Matthew 13:31–32). Even though the Lord Jesus in this parable speaks accurately about the size of the mustard seed and the size and use of its tree-like adult form, His purpose in the illustration is proverbial, not scientific. In context of His teachings about...

Jesus loved Lazarus, and he also dearly loved Lazarus’ two sisters, Mary and Martha. Their home was an oasis for the Son. We know Lazarus and his family loved Jesus, but the scriptures are most emphatic in pointing out Christ’s love for them. “Lord, behold, he whom you love is sick” (John 11:3, NKJV). “When Jesus heard that, he said, ‘This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.’” (John 11:4). Jesus knew that his Father intended for this miracle to give him glory and give them...

"Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." John, Chapter 3 1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 The...
