California Sen. Alex Padilla will not support Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders' resolution aimed at blocking U.S. support for the Saudi-led war in Yemen... His "no" vote marked a blow to the resolution, the fate of which was originally expected to be decided on the Senate floor on Tuesday. But Sanders announced Tuesday evening that he would be pulling the resolution from the floor instead so he could work with the Biden administration to draft a bill the White House would agree to. One of Padilla's main concerns, according to a spokesperson, was that the bill did not have President Joe...

CTH took considerable flak for reporting on the uniparty system of Georgia politics prior to the 2020 midterms. With the election in the rearview mirror, the Georgia Secretary of State is now proposing to permanently codify Democrat control of the state. (Via Reason) […] Speaking to The New York Times last week, Raffensperger said he would petition the state legislature with three separate proposals. One would force large counties to open more locations for voting early. Another would lower the vote total needed to avoid a runoff from 50 percent to 45. The third proposal is the most consequential, and...

Twenty protesters withstood freezing temperatures over the weekend to defy the project, which started in August after Ducey issued an executive order directing the state Department of Emergency and Military Affairs to fill gaps in the existing border wall in Yuma County. The project's $95 million expansion into Cochise County comprises about 3,000 steel containers, The Associated Press reported. Ducey's office did not respond to multiple requests for comment. Until last week, when protesters blocked access to the site, work crews stacked hundreds of shipping containers topped with razor wire along Arizona's remote eastern boundary with Mexico. Demonstrators say they...

Guest post by Tim Canova While there has been much public attention on the U.S. Supreme Court’s present consideration of the “independent state legislature” theory in Moore v. Harper involving North Carolina’s redistricting, that case would not immediately upend the 2020 Presidential Election. In contrast, a little-known case that appeared recently on the Court docket could do just that. The case of Brunson v. Adams, not even reported in the mainstream media, was filed pro se by ordinary American citizens – four brothers from Utah — seeking the removal of President Biden and Vice President Harris, along with 291 U.S....

On January 6, 2021, Capitol Police killed four Trump supporters at the US Capitol. Dozens of federal operatives were working inside the enormous Trump crowd that day and promoting violence. The media hid this for years from the American public. Now tonight a new report was released of a mysterious website that had over 500 pages of threats and discussions of murder and violence at the US Capitol on January 6. For some reason that report was just released today by Yahoo News. Why now? And what website are they talking about? And if this is true, Nancy Pelosi should...

Some 500 migrants were released into the streets of El Paso, Texas, to fend for themselves Monday as the border city grappled with an overwhelming influx of asylum seekers who have besieged the city and overwhelmed its shelters and border detention facilities. Migrants with nowhere to go were seen lying on mattresses and cardboard boxes in the city’s downtown district after having their claims processed and being let into the country by Border Patrol agents, according to KTSM-TV. The situation, which a local congressman dubbed a “crisis on steroids,” came as some 5,628 asylum seekers were held in temporary US...

A Florida realtor was stunned to find a nude couple romping in the pool of a property she was preparing to show a client, police said. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office reported the startled agent pulled up to the empty home in Davenport on Dec. 5 and saw a mysterious car in the driveway around 9:45 a.m. Knowing that no one was authorized to be on the property, the suspicious broker called 911. Responding deputies found a naked and unafraid couple cavorting in the home’s pool. The uninhibited intruders told officers that they had specifically come to the property to...

A quartet of Atlanta nurses have been fired for recording a viral TikTok video of them grousing about the irritating habits of the patients they’re tasked with helping and their families. “We already told you to push the call light,” one nurse says in the clip. “But every five minutes you have a family member coming to the front desk asking for something else.” A colleague then enters the frame and does a sarcastic impression of a demanding relative.

One of the main reasons for the current low uptake of the COVID mRNA bivalent booster (less than 43 million doses administered) is the scary anecdotes of side effects overreported in the media. These stories are not effectively countered by presenting unexciting low-risk data, or the equally boring but true knowledge that the more immunity you have the better off you are against COVID’s short- or long-term side effects. You will likely get less sick and you will recover more quickly and completely. But fear of a rare side effect overcomes reasoned reassurance every time. There is also some evidence...

Other issues such as unifying the country, abortion, crime, and gasoline prices placed lower on the list, with most ranking at 3%.

Since Joe Biden took office, inflation has become a huge problem for Americans. But, just how much has it cost us? E.J. Antoni, an economist, estimates that the typical American household has lost more than $7,000 owing to inflation and rising interest rates. “Although the slowdown in inflation is certainly welcome, it’s not a sign of things to come. The latest data illustrate why families cannot afford to live in Biden’s America,” explains Antoni, a research fellow for regional economics in the Center for Data Analysis at The Heritage Foundation. “Under Biden, prices have risen so much faster than wages...

Grab the popcorn, it’s getting hot between former CIA head John Brennan and Twitter owner Elon Musk. As we reported, Brennan was infuriated that Musk dared to criticize Dr. Anthony Fauci, saying that his “pronouns” were “Prosecute/Fauci.” But he continued that meltdown with a new tweet saying there needed to be a way to “prevent” people like Musk from being “politically destructive.” John O. Brennan @JohnBrennan · Follow Good people in democracies need a more effective way to prevent attention-craving, emotionally immature, & highly devious individuals, esp those of means, from being socially, culturally, & politically destructive. We certainly seem...

Activist and author Gloria Steinem said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “The ReidOut” after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v.Wade, America was not a democracy. Anchor Joy Reid said, “I want you to talk a little bit since we have you, and this is another multiracial woman’s movement that is now unfortunately thrust upon us, the end of Roe v. Wade. It is something that is going to hurt all women.” Steinem said, “It is unspeakable, really. We are a unique democracy in the world in failing to understand that women have a right to control our own bodies. Otherwise, we’re not...

Remember the Trump years? Back then we were told the administration, like its head, President Donald J. Trump, was deeply unserious: impulsive, ignorant, possibly corrupt and always vulgar. All in all, a disgrace to the hallowed history of American government. One argument for electing candidate Joseph Robinette Biden was that a Biden administration would restore normalcy to Washington. Instead of crazed, self-obsessed MAGA performers, a Biden team would be made up of sober, sensible establishment types. Boring, perhaps, but not crazy. The problem with that argument, it turns out, is that our establishment nowadays isn’t sober or sensible or boring....

The Spanish referee, who works in Spain’s La Liga, has already left Qatar, according to Spanish outlet COPE. The VAR (video assistant replay) referees were not punished, however, and will be given the options to work in the remaining matches. Both teams were enraged with Lahoz throughout the match, which saw Argentina blow a late 2-0 lead before rallying to win in penalties. Lahoz...

Also, the Times reports that Twitter hasn't paid rent at the San Francisco headquarters, or any other satellite office around the world, since Musk's record-breaking purchase went through.
