  • Don't Let Yourself Get Tangled Up by These 4 Quantum Mechanics Misconceptions

    1. A cat can be dead and alive Obviously, a cat is nothing like an individual photon in a controlled lab environment, it is much bigger and more complex. Any coherence that the trillions upon trillions of atoms that make up the cat might have with each other is extremely short-lived. This does not mean that quantum coherence is impossible in biological systems, just that it generally won't apply to big creatures such as cats or a human. 2. Simple analogies can explain entanglement Quantum particles are just mysteriously correlated in ways we can't describe with everyday logic or language...

Covid-19 vaccinations could save thousands of lives and billions of dollars this winter. A new analysis suggests that if more people in the United States get their booster by the end of the year, about 90,000 Covid-19 deaths could be prevented this fall and winter. But if booster vaccinations continue at their current pace, the nation could see a peak of more than 1,000 Covid-19 deaths per day this winter, according to the study, published Wednesday by The Commonwealth Fund. There are now more than 400 daily Covid-19 deaths, on average, in the United States. “When you look at the...

JAMESTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — An embattled western Michigan library targeted by residents opposed to LGBTQ materials on its shelves has lost most of its funding with the latest failure of the renewal of a property tax millage. The Patmos Library in Jamestown Township outside Grand Rapids will lose 84% of its $245,000 annual budget after the millage renewal was defeated in Tuesday’s general election. Unofficial results provided by the Ottawa County Clerk’s Office show 55.8% of voters rejected the 10-year millage proposal. It also lost in the August primary amid a campaign against LGBTQ materials in the library’s stacks.

On Thursday’s broadcast of Bloomberg’s “Surveillance,” EPA Administrator Michael Regan stated that he doesn’t think the 2022 midterms will change the fact that the agency has been given power “to pursue the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions to protect public health and protect the planet” through regulations and that the agency got a boost in its goals from the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act. Regan said, “Well, the president has had a historic two years in passing historic legislation, with the bipartisan infrastructure law, the Inflation Reduction Act, resources coming to EPA to help with and enhance the regulations...

Mason Carter graduated from high school in May. He lives at home with his parents and doesn’t have a job. Come Tuesday, the 18-year-old Republican who says he has been inspired by former president Donald Trump since age 11 hopes to become one of the youngest public officials ever elected in Maryland. And his chances look good. Frederick County voted decisively for Joe Biden over Trump in the 2020 presidential contest. But in his race against Democrat Julianna Lufkin, Carter is running for the county council’s 5th District, its reddest and most rural seat, giving him a significant edge. Carter,...

Democratic consultant and political commentator James Carville said Thursday on MSNBC’s “The ReidOut” that Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) would be a “very serious presidential candidate if she runs” in 2024. Anchor Joy Reid said, “I feel the media has overplayed the importance of DeSantis and underplayed the victory for Whitmer. Whitmer, to me, was the biggest single individual winner on election day because not only did she survive the kidnapping threat, she survived real threats to democracy in her state, got reelected by a healthy margin, and took over the state. Your thoughts?”

“The truth of the matter is, and I just got these numbers, there are 384,000,” Lake said. “That’s a lot of votes. 384,000 votes that are mail in ballots. So these people received them a month ago, but they didn’t trust probably most of them dropping ’em off at a Dropbox or in the US Postal Service. So they filled them out, they went into the voting center on election day, and handed them in. They felt that was the safest way to ensure that their ballot truly got to where it needed to go. Right.”

Outgoing Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) said Thursday on CNN’s “Situation Room” that it is former President Donald Trump’s fault Republican Mehmet Oz lost the Pennsylvania Senate seat to Democrat John Fetterman. Toomey said, “I think Dr. oz ran a very good campaign. I actually think he was a very good candidate in a lot of ways. So the question that I think arises is why did a good candidate running a good race in what should be a very good environment not prevail in a state like Pennsylvania, which is very, very competitive, always close, or almost always close? A federal judge in Texas struck down President Biden's student loan handout in a Thursday night ruling. Biden's plan, which aims to cancel up to $20,000 in student loan debt for Pell Grant recipients in college and up to $10,000 for others who borrowed using federal student loans. "Whether the Program constitutes good public policy is not the role of this Court to determine. Former President Donald Trump criticized Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida Thursday in a statement posted on Truth Social, calling him an “average” governor who was “politically dead” and in “desperate shape” before Trump endorsed him in 2017. “Ron came to me in desperate shape in 2017—he was politically dead, losing in a landslide to a very good Agriculture Commissioner, Adam Putnam, who was loaded up with cash and great poll numbers. Ron had low approval, bad polls, and no money, but he said that if I would Endorse him, he could win,” Trump said in the statement. (RELATED: ‘Do...

On this date in 1944, the Gestapo publicly hanged 13 men without trial at an S-Bahn station near Cologne. Heavily bombed by the Allies in World War II, the Rhineland industrial center had spawned two overlapping anti-Nazi movements both represented in this evil baker’s dozen. Their purchase on posterity’s laurels of anti-Nazi “resistance” has been debated ever since. The first of these were the Edelweiss Pirates (English Wikipedia entry | German), a thousands-strong network of dissident young people dating back to the 1930s after Berlin made youth membership in the Sieg Heiling Hitler Youth (HJ) mandatory. Often derogated as mere...

DENVER — A Colorado man who is a registered Democratic voter has been arrested on suspicion of tampering with voting equipment by allegedly inserting a USB thumb drive into a voting machine at a polling station during the primary election in June, authorities said. No elections data were accessed, and the June 28 incident didn’t cause any major disruption to voting, authorities said. But it heightened concerns among election officials and security experts that conspiracy theories related to the 2020 presidential election could inspire some voters to meddle with - or even attempt to sabotage - election equipment. Experts say...

The Gateway Pundit’s Jordan Conradson and Ben Bergquam from Real America’s Voice were physically removed from the Maricopa County presser on Thursday afternoon. Maricopa County deputies removed them from the premises by escorting them outside of the fence – something that is noticeably absent on the US southern border! In October The Gateway Pundit reported that TGP correspondent Jordan Conradson was blocked from access to Maricopa County’s election-related events in a clear effort to silence this news organization and stop us from reporting on election discrepancies in Maricopa County. Earlier today Ben Bergquam was told to leave the county presser....
