The rate is a marginal fall from the 10.1% seen in August, prompting hopes that the UK might narrowly avoid a recession. The Office for National Statistics said that the fall in fuel prices was the main factor in the fall from the 10.1% CPI seen in July. The rise in food prices has been the main reason the overall inflation figure has remained high, however.

Major cities across the US are introducing smart streetlights with the promise they'll provide safer and more sustainable public spaces. But behind the scenes, the technology is being appropriated as an instrument of surveillance within a larger network of smart sensors. “This is not a surveillance system—nobody is watching it 24 hours a day,” said Erik Caldwell, director of economic development in San Diego, in an interview where he was asked if the wide deployment of “smart” streetlights had turned San Diego into a surveillance city. Innocuous at first glance, this statement demonstrates the pernicious impact of artificial intelligence on...

Two big admissions regarding the vaccine surfaced this week. First up- the CDC knowingly lied to us! I’d like to pretend I’m completely surprised by this, but I’m not that good of an actor. I’m more of an “uh-huh, I knew it!!” kind of girl. Now, the Epoch Times is reporting: The director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has acknowledged publicly for the first time that the agency gave false information about its COVID-19 vaccine safety monitoring. Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the agency’s director, said in a letter made public on Sept. 12 that the CDC did...

In these times, profits must be shared and channelled to those who need it most," von der Leyen said in a speech to the European Parliament in Strasbourg. A draft of the Commission proposals, seen by Reuters, would skim...

When John Durham was assigned by the Justice Department in 2019 to examine the origins of the investigation into the 2016 Trump campaign’s ties to Russia, President Donald Trump and his supporters expressed a belief that the inquiry would prove that a “deep state” conspiracy including top Obama-era officials had worked to sabotage him. Now Durham appears to be winding down his three-year inquiry without anything close to the results Trump was seeking. The grand jury that Durham has recently used to hear evidence has expired, and while he could convene another, there are currently no plans to do so,...

It’s September, in an even year. Labor Day has passed. The big mid-terms are less than two months away. It’s time for a pre-election bait and switch on poverty statistics to deceive any low information voters who aren’t paying attention to how the poverty scam works. The poverty scam has been a big topic over the years at this blog, although perhaps less so in the most recent couple of years. This link will take you to all my prior posts on Poverty, some 129 in total. The most important recurring theme has been that the government cynically manipulates the...
