A true crime fan who runs an online account called Checkit TV said he found a laptop and other items belonging to 16-year-old Kiely Rodni in the California lake where her body was found submerged in her car last month.
The sleuth, who does not make his name public, claims to have made the discovery while out rowing in the reservoir and dived down to retrieve the items, The Sun reported. The other objects included a duffel bag, hairbrush, charge cord, and gift box.
Rodni, an honors student, went missing just after midnight on Aug. 6 after a rowdy end-of-school party with friends in Truckee, California near Lake Tahoe.
The Oregon-based search team, Adventures with Purpose, used sonar to spot Rodni’s Honda CR-V in Prosser Lake on Aug. 21 — more than two weeks after the teen was reported missing near the Prosser Family Campground. They made the discovery after police and the FBI spent two weeks searching fruitlessly.

The FBI may have to seize that laptop on the slim chance that Hunter is involved in the murder.
Just a few yards away from shore, IIRC.
THEY DIDN'T WANT TO FIND IT.....................................
Adventures with Purpose seem to be very skilled in the use of their technology kit.
And have lots of experience.
If this were an episode of Columbo, that would mean HE did the murder.
Those guys are great. It’s amazing that for such a high profile case, the police didn’t do a full super detailed search of the lake bottom after AWP found the car and body.
This second find did not involve Adventures with Purpose, but rather a true crime aficionado using a rented row boat.
There may not have been an actual crime committed, but the investigation of this teens death has been handled very poorly.
Thanks, I missed that in posting. My bad.
What was the cause of death?
Autopsy results not in yet.
My guess would be impaired driver, single-vehicle accident. But, one never knows.
Follow AWP on TikTok or YouTube. You will be shocked how many cars are found exactly where they are expected to be in shallow water after “extensive” searches.
16 years old at LARGE party with lots of drinking, driving family car...AT NIGHT
Sure would like to know her BAC results from the autopsy.
Somewhat petite 16 year old who consumed large amount of alcohol & was DRIVING.
A friend of a family member went missing one night on his way home from work. Police did next to nothing. The man’s fellow employees started their own search of his usual route home & eventually found tire tracks leading into a river. He’d apparently fallen asleep at the wheel & driven into it. We think we can rely on the police. Truth is we can’t.
A good number of this kind of crash/death, with a missing person, have been solved by searching of ponds everywhere with Google Maps satellite view, which is really aerial photography. Lots of vehicles (with bodies) in ponds in shallow water have showed up.

“Sure would like to know her BAC results from the autopsy.”
Does being in the water impact the BAC? Just wondering.
Cessation of metabolism means the alcohol level in her blood is what it was when she died.
