A person's blood type may be linked to their risk of having an early stroke, according to a new meta-analysis. The meta-analysis included all available data from genetic studies focusing on ischemic strokes, which are caused by a blockage of blood flow to the brain, occurring in younger adults under age 60. Steven J. Kittner, MD, MPH and his colleagues conducted the study by performing a meta-analysis of 48 studies on genetics and ischemic stroke that included 17,000 stroke patients and nearly 600,000 healthy controls who never had experienced a stroke. They then looked across all collected chromosomes to identify...

A man who taught Sunday school at a North Carolina church was convicted Monday of rape and other sexual crimes, a prosecutor said. Johnston County Assistant District Attorney Paul Jackson said in a news release Tuesday that the charges against Jonathan David Young, 38, involved three children and took place from 2003 to 2014, The News & Observer reported. Many of the offenses happened at Firstborn Baptist Church in Benson where Young was a Sunday school teacher for several years, the release stated. The youngest victim was 5 and the oldest was 14 when the incidents occurred, Jackson told the...

The space agency estimates there are about 25,000 asteroids of at least 140m in diameter near Earth's orbit. While the odds of them crashing into our planet at any given time are minuscule, Congress directed Nasa to find 90 per cent of them by 2020. Scientists have found fewer than half. But for reasons it has not publicly explained, the administration has proposed delaying by two years, until 2028, the launch of an infrared space telescope meant to find those threatening asteroids and sharply cutting its budget for next year. About 500 times a year, researchers identify asteroids of at...

Joe Biden has been out to a couple of campaign-type events over the past week, including one in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. We reported how Biden was supposed to be talking about a “safer America” but he spent a lot of time attacking millions of Americans by demonizing MAGA Republicans and lying about Jan. 6. Biden is so unpopular, John Fetterman, one of the candidates Biden was stumping for, couldn’t even be bothered to show up. Biden got completely confused as to who was running for what position, what was in the Constitution, and showed off his ignorance about guns. Biden also...

Activists one again messed with Texas and brought one of their "child-friendly" drag show to a local restaurant. The LWC crew was on hand to expose the degeneracy and was met with armed Antifa security. Things went downhill from there. #DragQueen #LGBTQ #Antifa

Chinese tech giant Baidu is developing its own quantum computer to compete with the United States in the race toward next-generation information processing. The computer does not outperform rivals currently being developed in America but, according to one expert, signals dire competition over the future of data security.A 3D Illustration of a futuristic computer processor. (James Thew/Adobe Stock)Arthur Herman, a senior fellow at the conservative think tank Hudson Institute, said that Baidu’s recently announced quantum effort fell short of similar efforts being made by companies like Google and IBM.“This quantum computer that they’re touting has only 10 qubits, and that’s...

Stephen Miller: President Trump poured out his heart, his soul, his spirit every day to build a better America for everyone to build a safer and more prosperous America. While Democrats and deep state launched an illegal operation to take him out and it is now in its sixth year! President Biden tonight gave the speech of a dictator, in the style of a dictator, in the visual of a dictator, using the words of a dictator. This was his enemies of the state speech. And like every other radical, Marxist, tyrant, he accused his opponents of being fascist while...

[Dr. Gilbert Berdine of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and Ryan McMaken discuss the policy makers’ justifications for vaccine mandates over the past two years. Will any of these policy makers admit to any mistakes?]Ryan McMaken: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) earlier this month greatly scaled back its recommendations for quarantine and social distancing. It also now makes the same recommendations “regardless of vaccination status.” In other words, the CDC now apparently does not regard vaccinated people as any less a public health risk than the unvaccinated. What does this tell us about where we...

The fact that China is abusing millions of people in Xinjiang is hardly news at this point. We’ve covered it here many times. But this particular UN report has apparently been delayed for at least a year. So, baby steps.China had urged the UN not to release the report – with Beijing calling it a “farce” arranged by Western powers. The report assesses claims of abuse against Uyghur Muslims and other ethnic minorities, which China denies. But investigators said they found “credible evidence” of torture possibly amounting to “crimes against humanity”…“Despite the Chinese government’s strenuous denials, the UN has now officially recognised...

I’ve been a naysayer on the notion that the Justice Department is trying to make a criminal case against former President Donald Trump based on the Mar-a-Lago raid, at least with respect to the offenses most often touted: mishandling classified documents and illegally retaining government records. But that has come with a significant caveat: If the evidence of obstruction of justice proved to be convincing, there’s a very good chance the government would indict. The court filing made by the Justice Department on Tuesday night, in response to Trump’s lawsuit seeking a special master to review materials seized by the FBI,...

For the second time in as many weeks, Democrats have won a competitive special election. And by the numbers, this win was even more impressive than last week’s victory in New York’s 19th District. On Wednesday, the Alaska Division of Elections announced that former state Rep. Mary Peltola had defeated former Gov. Sarah Palin in the special election for the state’s vacant U.S. House seat, becoming the first Alaska Native ever elected to Congress and the first Democrat to win a statewide election since 2008. [SNIP] Democrats have clearly overperformed in special elections since the Supreme Court overturned the constitutional...

It’s been out of sight, out of mind for so long that most probably forgot about Carter Page’s lawsuit against DOJ and the various government officials who forged the FISA warrant targeting him. Unfortunately, on Thursday, Page received some devastating news about his quest for accountability.Judge Dabney L. Friedrich, who was appointed by Donald Trump, dismissed the lawsuit.Judge Friedrich has dismissed Carter PAGE's long-running lawsuit against DOJ, the FBI and many individuals involved in the FISA warrants used to surveil him.https://t.co/p1k92bYK05— Kyle Cheney (@kyledcheney) September 1, 2022I’m no lawyer, so I’m not going to attempt to dissect why exactly what...

An experimental combination of two drugs halts the progression of small cell lung cancer, the deadliest form of lung cancer, according to a study. One of the drugs, cyclophosphamide, is an outdated chemotherapy drug once used to treat small cell lung cancer. Both kinds of drugs work at first but falter after a few months as the cancer develops resistance. Platinum-based drugs became the standard of care mainly because they cause lesser side effects, but they have not substantially improved prognosis. Today, the typical patient survives less than a year and a half after diagnosis. Researchers showed that small cell...

There’s an important update on the lawsuit that Missouri and Louisiana filed back in May against members of the Biden Administration, including Joe Biden, to expose the collusion between them and social media companies to censor speech on a variety of subjects–including things like the Hunter Biden laptop and COVID.“Big Tech has become an extension of Biden’s Big Government, and neither are protecting the freedoms of Americans; rather, they are suppressing truth and demonizing those who think differently,” said Attorney General Landry. “Ripped from the playbook of Stalin and his ilk, Biden has been colluding with Big Tech to censor...
