“‘“. . . as we also have forgiven our debtors”’” (Matthew 6:12). Even as we have been forgiven, we need to forgive. This is the character of righteousness. But because of our sinful flesh, we are often inconsistent with that duty and need constant exhortation (cf. Rom. 7:14–25). The Lord Jesus’ own example is a powerful motivation for us to forgive others. Paul reminds us, “Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you” (Eph. 4:32; 1 John 2:6). In view of such divine graciousness, our forgiveness of another’s sin expresses...

Many Christians quote one particular passage of Paul’s writings with a misunderstanding of what he was writing about. “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:3-4, NKJV). Most of us think of strongholds or bondages such as sexual trespasses, drug addictions, alcoholism or other outward sins we put at the top of the ‘worst-sins’ list. However, Paul is referring here to something much worse than our human measuring of sins. He isn’t speaking...

In almost all of the cases, the abuse had led to arrests and jail time. According to a description from Guidepost Solutions, the firm that uncovered the list as part of a multimillion-dollar investigation into how...

As the heat piles on Uvalde Schools Police Chief Pete Arredondo, he's now being investigated for possibly not having a police radio on him when he told his officers to stand back as Salvador Ramos slaughtered 19 children and two adults. Arredondo, a former 911 dispatcher who'd been elected to Uvalde's city council just days earlier, may have used that as an excuse for why he held his officers back despite the 911 calls from students inside the school desperate for assistance. 'That's going to be key,' a source told the New York Post. 'If those 911 calls were being...

Siouxsie Sioux is one of the most important musicians of the past 50 years. Growing up in the suburb of Chislehurst, London, she always knew she was different, and her early experiences of living on the peripheries of her family and of the local community inspired the rage in her that would drive her to cast off the connection she once had to the Sex Pistols. As the frontwoman of Siouxsie and the Banshees, she cultivated a unique and uncompromising style that continues to inspire to this day. Sioux showed that women could tussle with the men and win resoundingly....

“I hope they both move on. At their best, they are each incredible,” Musk, who once dated Heard, tweeted Saturday. Musk’s tweet was in response to MIT research scientist and podcaster Lex Fridman who tweeted Friday: “My takeaways from Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard trial: 1. Fame is one hell of a drug (for some). 2. Psychiatrists & lawyers come in drastically varying levels of skill. 3. Lying to millions of people is something humans are capable of. 4. Love can be messy. 5. Mega pint of wine.”

Tommy Beres hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to give third-seeded UCLA a wild 25-22 victory over second-seeded Oregon State on Saturday in the Pac-12 Tournament. The 47 combined runs in are the most in a Division I game this season (out of more than 8,000 games), and the last time an MLB game featured 47-plus combined runs was Aug. 25, 1922 when the Cubs beat the Phillies 26-23, according to ESPN Stats. The win by the Bruins, who scored nine runs in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings, forced a...

A quick recap: Amateur photographer Frank Glick was on his way to work when he drove through Fort Snelling National Cemetery early one morning. He spotted a bald eagle through the mist, perched on a gravestone, and snapped shots with his aging but ever-present camera. Nice shot, he thought. An acquaintance saw the photo and suggested that he see if the deceased soldier had any living relatives who might want it. Indeed, Maurice Ruch's widow was alive and well and delighted to receive a copy of the eagle watching over her beloved husband. Glick's friend called me. Nice story, I...

Boris Johnson will reportedly announce the return of imperial measurements to mark the Queen’s platinum jubilee, in an apparent attempt to garner support among Brexiter voters in battleground seats that the Conservatives are in danger of losing. Britain currently uses a mix of imperial and metric measurements, with speed limits in miles per hour and milk and beer bought in pints. The prime minister, under increasing pressure after further damaging revelations in the Partygate scandal, is expected to announce next week that British shops will be allowed to sell products in pounds and ounces to coincide with celebrations for the...

Roger Staubach probably never realized how he altered history by going to the Naval Academy and blocking the otherwise promising collegiate football career of a young Joe Biden. Though, he probably never realized it because Biden just told the world about it on Saturday, and there are some very obvious flaws in the story. During a commencement address at the U.S. Naval Academy on Friday, Biden claimed that he gained acceptance to Annapolis in 1965 but opted not to go there due to the presence of future Super Bowl champion and NFL Hall of Famer Roger Staubach. An exciting story,...
