Roger Staubach probably never realized how he altered history by going to the Naval Academy and blocking the otherwise promising collegiate football career of a young Joe Biden.
Though, he probably never realized it because Biden just told the world about it on Saturday, and there are some very obvious flaws in the story.
During a commencement address at the U.S. Naval Academy on Friday, Biden claimed that he gained acceptance to Annapolis in 1965 but opted not to go there due to the presence of future Super Bowl champion and NFL Hall of Famer Roger Staubach.
An exciting story, to be sure. The only problem with it is there’s no record of Biden declining an offer to play football at Navy. Likewise, there’s no record of him playing varsity football at the school he ultimately did attend, the University of Delaware. Plus, there’s the not-so-small matter of the dates which Biden provided not syncing up at all.

In any event, Biden has a history of telling tall tales to relate to his audience. For example, in April, Biden told a group of truckers that he once drove a tractor-trailer and worked with a dispatcher named “Big Mama.”

Recall how many tall tales Hillary Clinton has told. And hubby, BJ.
And many Republican politicians are guilty of it, as well.
Don’t they know, in this era of immediate google search, that their embellishments can easily be checked?
They just expect their sycophants in the media to cover for them.
I think it’s due to the high concentration of narcissistic personality disorder among people drawn to become political candidates. Think of Bill Clinton - the guy thrives on adulation. Joe Biden is a less talented version of Bill Clinton.
Biden is giving the Babylon Bee a run for their money.
And don’t forget Jeb “tippy-toes” Bush. Who literally made himself a ‘tall’ tale by standing on his tip=toes to appear taller than all the other candidates.
Wish Staubach could have prevented Xiden from becoming president.

The Naval Academy recruited him while he was driving an 18 Wheeler at night and a Coal Miner during the day, and attending an Historically Black School that said he didn’t attend, and while he was getting arrested in South Africa, and flying into enemy fire to pin medals on men that didn’t want the Medals pinned on them.
He even tells the false story of getting Republicans to sign on to pass Obamacare late at night, and make history, except there were no Republicans that swung their votes at the last minute.
Let’s see. Hillary named after Sir Edmond who climbed Everest after she was born. Corkscrew helicopter landing in Kosovo running from bullets. Didn’t stop her fans from voting. Bill didn’t inhale.
