On Friday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Don Lemon Tonight,” Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) argued that it has been proven that if a shooter “has weapons of war, and has the unbelievable automatic weapon,” then a law-abiding citizen with a gun responding “doesn’t work.” Jackson Lee said, “We have no universal background checks here in the United States or Texas. And so, right in my district, in the NRA convention, they were selling guns without background checks at the private gun shows. They don’t care about domestic abuse. They don’t care about intervention on violence, no laws. And they don’t have...

CNN contributor and former sportscaster Bob Costas said Friday on CNN’s “The Situation Room” that he believed some Republicans were “either nuts” or “too cowardly” to stand for principle and pass common-sense gun safety measures. Costas said, “We are the only country that has these sorts of school shootings, hundreds of them over the last two decades. Meanwhile, in Canada, two, Germany, one and Japan, Italy, the U.K., zero.”

Spain passed a decree this week limiting the use of air conditioning in public buildings as part of a strategy to conserve energy and reduce Europe’s dependence on Russian gas. Spain itself does not depend on gas from Russia, but its government is working to increase energy efficiency as the European Union looks to reduce reliance on Russian gas by two-thirds by the end of this year alone. “Energy savings are the quickest and cheapest way to address the current energy crisis, and reduce bills,” the European Commission said last week when it unveiled details of its REPowerEU plan “to...

As I neared the young ones, I put all my weight on my right foot, keeping the accelerator pedal on the floor until I heard the crashing of the two children on the hood, and then the sharp cry of pain from one of the two — A 15-year-old Beto O'Rourke's fictional fantasy piece “This happiness was mine by right. I had...

"If we're running a crisis-situation vaccination campaign in the future, we should avoid allocating just enough vaccines to push the population to herd immunity," Boni said. "Instead, we should purchase more vaccines than we think we need, roll out the campaign as quickly as possible, and push the total number of vaccinees well past the herd immunity threshold."

San Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler told reporters prior to his team’s Friday night game against the Cincinnati Reds that he will not be taking the field for the national anthem and will not be doing so until he feels better about the direction of the country in the wake of the Uvalde school shooting that occurred earlier this week. While the World Economic Forum was hosting its “Annual Meeting” in Davos, Switzerland and pushing for the worldwide implementation of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investing metrics, Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron issued a scathing letter against ESG investing, declaring that it does not comport with Kentucky law. According to the letter, “There is an increasing trend among some investment management firms to use money in public and state employee pension plans—that is, other people’s money—to push their own political agendas and force social change.” By this, Cameron is referring to the fact that giant financial firms such as BlackRock,...

“‘“And forgive us our debts”’” (Matthew 6:12). God will not forgive our sins if we do not confess them. John makes that condition clear when he declares, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). Confession simply means we agree with God that our sins are evil and defiling and we do not want them to taint our walk with Christ. Our sinful pride makes it difficult to confess sin, but it is the only way to the free and joyful Christian life...

The greatest danger we all face is not being able to see Jesus in our troubles. Instead, we see ghosts. In Matthew 14, Jesus ordered his disciples into a boat that was headed for a storm. The Bible says he made them go before him in this boat he must’ve known was headed for troubled waters. It would be tossed about like a bobbing cork, and where was Jesus? He was up in the mountains overlooking the sea. He was praying and seeking his Father in solitude, then in the darkest hours of the night, he walked out on the...

Elephants are known for being gentle giants. But climate change is beginning to take its toll, with attacks on humans increasing as global temperatures rise. In India, 500 people are thought to be killed by elephants every year, mainly in crop-raiding incidents. In 2021, India Today reported that 3,310 people had died from elephant attacks in the last 7 years. As incidents like this increase, so has retaliation from villagers. In 2001, 60 elephants were found dead across North East India and Sumatra as crop poisoning became a popular form of retaliation. In April 2022, the Indian Express reported that...

Soulbound tokens, cryptocurrency and a social credit system sure sounds to me like the whole world is gearing up to receive the Mark of the Beast Last time I checked, a ‘crypt’ was where they put the dead bodies, so a ‘cryptocurrency’ would be money that is connected with dead things. Cryptocurrency has become huge over the pandemic, amazing coincidence I know, and now the founder of one of the world’s largest tech platforms for crypto is now rolling out something called a ‘soulbound token’ that will attached with the death money. Are you still waiting for the end times...

NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) — The growing offshore wind industry is often touted as a boon for job creation, but who will do the work? The U.S. energy secretary and Danish wind developer Orsted say they want American union workers to build offshore wind farms to dot the U.S. coastlines — the building trades workers who could otherwise be left out of a transition to renewable resources. A majority of onshore wind and solar farms have been built either with non-union workers or without collective bargaining agreements, except for in California where unions are more involved in the industry, according...
