On the occasion of the sinking of the Moskva, it is worth spending a moment thinking about how the Great Powers of the Black Sea waged naval war against one another in the 20th century, because Moskva is hardly the first modern warship to find her way to the bottom of the Pontus Euxinus. For Russia, the Black Sea has long represented a problem that remains stunningly obvious today; it is a critical theater of naval operations, the control of which can threaten amphibious attacks along its coastlines as well as conduct or prevent blockades of trade from crucial ports....

U.S. officials on Thursday pushed back on a New York Times report that said the U.S. provided Ukraine intelligence that helped it target and kill Russian generals and other senior officers.National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson took exception to the story's headline: "U.S. Intelligence Is Helping Ukraine Kill Russian Generals, Officials Say.""The headline of this story is misleading and the way it is framed is irresponsible. The United States provides battlefield intelligence to help the Ukrainians defend their country. We do not provide intelligence with the intent to kill Russian generals," Watson said, drawing a semantic distinction, appearing to want...

(JTA) — Shira Berkowitz was building a career in Jewish camping when a camp told them not to return. “It got around that I was that was queer, and that that wasn’t appropriate for me to be a program director for girls,” Berkowitz said. “And that was really harmful to my identity. I went back in the closet for a few years.” Berkowitz’s career and personal identity recovered, and they went on to work at Camp Sabra, Missouri’s biggest Jewish overnight camp, which they described as far more accepting. “But I was also very aware that there was almost no...

Wade was leaked to the press. “I don’t have an official U.S. government position on where people protest,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki replied when asked if the president condoned the actions of protesters sharing information on the home addresses of originalist Supreme Court justices.

‘Self-absorbed’ Meghan Markle made Netflix realize ‘go woke or go broke’ Meghan Markle has been accused of forcing Netflix to rethink their multi-million deal, amid the ongoing warnings of ‘go woke or go broke’. Royal commentator Jane Moore made this claim in her new opinion piece for The Sun. In it, she wrote, “There are no greater group-think virtue-signalers than the Sussexes.” “The get woke, go broke mantra is particularly noticeable in the entertainment industry when viewers want to be, er, entertained rather than watch something that preaches a PC message at the expense of a good story and interesting...

Wailing and gnashing of teeth has commenced upon the announcement that Elon Musk will soon officially own Twitter. This follows the wailing and gnashing of teeth that followed the Florida decision to strip Disney of their special tax status. That followed the wailing and gnashing of teeth that followed the decisions in multiple states to legislatively ban critical race theory in public education. That followed the wailing and gnashing of teeth that followed parents organizing to demand accountability for their school boards, which has in turn led to tens of thousands of parents across the country (including me) running to...

Kellogg raised its 2022 forecast on Thursday, banking on more price increases to help counter the impact of supply shortages stemming from a workers’ strike at the company’s US plants last year and the war in Ukraine. Shares of the Michigan-based company rose 4%, after it also beat first-quarter profit estimates. Costs from freight and ingredients such as wheat, corn and edible oils have surged in the last year due to pandemic-induced disruptions to the global supply chain, forcing the packaged food industry to raise product prices to cushion the hit to their profit margins.

With the November elections fast approaching, the Democratic Party was in hysterics, panicking over they feared would be wave election, a massive mid-term butt kicking in payment for inflation, crime, the open border and everything else they’ve done to the American people. They screamed about insurrections wherever they could imagine them, under your neighbors’ bed, among parents who don’t want their kindergarteners indoctrinated on gender identification, among those smeared as domestic terrorists for daring to oppose racist Critical Race Theories in government schools. They piled dry wood around the stakes, like witch burners of the Middle Ages, and their media...

The Black Sea Fleet returned most of the ships to Sevastopol Bay. Seven Russian ships are moored near the Kuryna pier, including some Project 1135 Thunderbird vessels. Several weeks into the war, the Russian Navy obscured the hull numbers of its ships, in order to make it difficult to identify specific vessels of the same type. A Project 1241 Lightning-1 missile boat is also seen to be moored. Moreover, a Project 1239 Sivuch missile hovercraft is also in Sevastopol. Russia’s Black Sea Fleet has a total of three Thunderbird frigates in service: the Admiral Grigorovich (494), the Admiral Essen (490),...

On Thursday’s broadcast of CNN’s “New Day,” White House Council of Economic Advisers member Jared Bernstein argued that inflation numbers in Europe, which are “not quite as high as ours,” undercut the argument that “somehow U.S. spending was responsible” for inflation. Co-host Brianna Keilar asked, “We’re looking at some of the numbers here of the increase in costs for certain items, items that people cannot avoid purchasing. Was Joe Manchin right about the impact of spending under this administration on inflation?”

While Russia continues to invade Ukraine, Russian state TV has increasingly discussed ideas of the war expanding beyond Ukraine's borders, and on Sunday, authorities announced they were tracking a Russian ship near Hawaii. One U.S. Indo-Pacific Command spokeswoman told Honolulu station KHON2, "U.S. Indo-Pacific Command routinely monitors air and maritime traffic in the Western Pacific to ensure security and stability of the region alongside our Allies and partners." The spokeswoman continued, "As part...

An upstate New York woman has revealed how her decade-long dumpster diving habit has allowed her to eat everything from fresh produce to filet mignon — while only spending about $25 a week on food. Filmmaker Theresa Kadish, 31, has been rifling through trash for years and says the food she finds makes up a third of her diet. She picks out perishable goods like fruit, vegetables, eggs, and meats from dumpsters, and has even served what she has scavenged to guests. 'Seriously, there's no difference between dumpstered and non-dumpstered food, and I don't assign preferential ethical or cultural value...

As evidence of Russian atrocities in Ukraine mounts, the U.S. is once again grappling with our dependence on foreign oil. Although we produce more than we consume, we imported about 670,000 barrels per day from Russia last year — more than we imported from Saudi Arabia. At recent prices of $100 per barrel, that’s nearly $25 billion that fed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war machine. The U.S. ban on Russian oil helps, but is small compared to total Russian exports. So, how can we cut oil consumption and energy costs? President Biden wants electric vehicles (EVs) to comprise half of...
