Officials push back on report US intel helping Ukraine target Russian generals

U.S. officials on Thursday pushed back on a New York Times report that said the U.S. provided Ukraine intelligence that helped it target and kill Russian generals and other senior officers.

National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson took exception to the story's headline: "U.S. Intelligence Is Helping Ukraine Kill Russian Generals, Officials Say."

"The headline of this story is misleading and the way it is framed is irresponsible. The United States provides battlefield intelligence to help the Ukrainians defend their country. We do not provide intelligence with the intent to kill Russian generals," Watson said, drawing a semantic distinction, appearing to want to distance the U.S. from any direct involvement in an attack on Russian commanders.

A second U.S. official with knowledge of U.S. intelligence-sharing with Ukraine confirmed that the U.S. provides intelligence on movements of Russian units and command posts, but not on individual Russian military leaders.

"The U.S. is not providing intelligence on Russian generals," the official told ABC News Wednesday evening.

Well that's just a damn lie.

Providing intel on the movement of a flagged command is most definitely providing intel on the location of Russian generals.

And I'm astounded Russia continues to put up with this, to include the targeting of their flag ship.

There's a lot of things they could do to deplete the will of the US and NATO on this matter.

The escalation steps are well known for the most part. Some would be surprising.

The Admiral Makarov was just sunk tonight by Ukraine. Victory Day parade is going to really suck for KGB Putin.

Do you know where she was sunk...in the littorals, or at sea?

It matters when determining the principal antagonist.

You may want to refrain from posting something as “fact” when it’s “just a rumor”.

It wastes peoples time, it is misleading and it’s not honest.

Would be a great time for Republicans to call for an investigation on the CIA. This is an impeachable offense for all of them. Especially without congressional approval.

Moskva started as a rumor, too. But the Russian salvage barge on the way is not a rumor.

I am astonished by what I am watching in the world right now. It is a slippery historical slope we are on, and I for one hope we can stay out of it somehow…..but with our current leadership and trajectory that seems unlikely.

The great gears of war are starting to grind, and history shows us it will be the common citizen, on all sides, that will pay. Not Z, not ole Joe, not Putin, it will be the common man.

Looks more and more like this administration want to escalate this war until Russia attacks the US. It could go nuclear. This is the ultimate idiocy.
