Rock 'n’ roll was still in its infancy when it suffered its first tragedy. On Feb. 3, 1959, three of its biggest stars — Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. Richardson, known as the Big Bopper — were killed in a plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa. The three acts, along with Dion and the Belmonts, were on a package tour called the Winter Dance Party, which was to play 24 Midwestern cities in as many days. But the bus’ heating system was ill-equipped and broke down a few days later, which caused some musicians to catch the flu and...

State officials on Thursday said its unlikely that prosecutors will be able to obtain a warrant to carry out death row inmate Zane Floyd’s execution before Nevada’s supply of one of the lethal injection drugs expires. “It’s theoretically possible but highly unlikely,” Clark County Chief Deputy District Attorney Alexander Chen said during a hearing in U.S. District Court. Floyd, who was sentenced to die for fatally shooting four people and gravely wounding another at a Las Vegas grocery store more than two decades ago, has multiple appeals in front of the Nevada Supreme Court. The high court would have to...

Iran has executed two gay men who were convicted on charges of sodomy and spent six years on death row, a rights group reported. Homosexuality is illegal in Iran, which is considered one of the most repressive places in the world for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. According to a report on Sunday by the Human Rights Activists News Agency, the two men were identified as Mehrdad Karimpour and Farid Mohammadi. They were sentenced to death for "forced sexual intercourse between two men" and hanged in a prison in the northwestern city of Maragheh, some 310 miles from the...

Iran's nuclear program is on the verge of producing enough fuel for a nuclear bomb in just a matter of weeks and could have a device built in less than a year, US officials estimate. Iran's 'breakout time' - the time it would take to produce enough weapons-grade uranium for one nuclear weapon - has advanced greatly after Donald Trump withdrew the US from a deal with the country in 2018, officials claim. The breakout time is different from the time it would take Iran to build a nuclear weapon. Western officials believe Iran hasn't quite figured out how to...

The first demonstrators arrived in Quebec at the beginning of the evening Thursday but the police did not tolerate any overflow. Leaving Stoneham after a break in the afternoon, the convoy managed to reach the upper town but the authorities did not even allow the vehicles to park on Rene-Levesque Boulevard. The Quebec patrol officers have a short fuse and negotiation seems impossible. They are also more numerous than the protesters. The protest, however, is expected to culminate on Saturday...

So we’re finally seeing a genuine, bottom-up, working-class revolution. In Canada, and increasingly in the United States, truckers and others are refusing to follow government orders, telling the powerful that, in a popular lefty formulation, if there’s no justice, there’s no peace. Naturally, the left hates it. ... A working-class revolution led by the working class is the left’s worst nightmare because the working class doesn’t want what the left wants. The working class wants jobs, a stable economy, safe streets, low inflation, schools that teach things and a conservative, non-adventurous foreign policy that won’t get a lot of working-class...

Feb. 1, 2022 -- While studies indicate the Omicron subvariant spreads more easily than the highly transmissible original Omicron variant, there’s no evidence the subvariant makes people any sicker, a World Health Organization official said, according to CNBC.Maria Van Kerkhove, WHO technical lead, said Tuesday at a news conference that both the Omicron variant, labeled BA.1 and the subvariant, BA.2, cause less severe illness than the Delta variant. But there’s no indication the subvariant causes more severe illness than the original Omicron, she said. Vaccines protect people from illness and death from both the variant and the subvariant, she said.“We need...

I have a 41 yo niece who had a sudden onset of FND 2 weeks ago. She still can't talk, only can walk with assistance (meaning she literally has to be held up - like a baby learning to walk), not sure what else. She petite, was in an ATV accident when she was 16 & damaged her head, yet not brain damage. She, her hubby, parents & friends have never heard nor had experience with it. Does anyone here have experience with this?

PHILADELPHIA (TND) - A transgender athlete who competes for the University of Pennsylvania women's swim team may be ineligible to compete for this year's NCAA Championships after a recent rule change from USA Swimming. Lia Thomas, 22, has already sparked a nationwide conversation about fairness in women's sports after she repeatedly dominated meets. She was born biologically male, and competed for her college's men's team before transitioning. Thomas has been in compliance with the NCAA's policy for transgender athletes. After taking testosterone suppressants for over a year, Thomas is allowed to compete as a woman. **SNIP** Three independent medical experts...

MSNBC legal analyst Brittany Packnett Cunningham said Thursday on “The ReidOut” that the slogan Make America Great Again reflected a desire to return to “days when you could lynch or murder black folks.” While discussing a proposed Missouri self-defense law, host Joy Reid said, “As expected, Mark McCloskey, who is running for the open Missouri Senate seat, praised the bill. Because it means that he essentially, and his wife, could have been in their slippers and shoot every single Black Lives Matter person that walked by, legally, and they would not even be detained.” AD Packnett Cunningham said, “Joy, I’m...

Elle published an article by Mike Bloomberg gun control affiliate Shannon Watts in which she claims that the “overlap between gun extremists and men who hate women is alarming.” Watts’ article is part of the left’s effort to pressure Congress into expanding the prohibited purchasers/possessors list for firearms in America. They are specifically pushing to expand prohibitions against ex-spouses to include ex-boyfriends and dating partners. To be clear, pro-gun activists don’t disagree with us because they actually believe we want to take their guns away. They hate us because we’re women. Rarely do the men who proclaim themselves defenders of...

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) says he plans to subpoena Anthony Fauci's records if Republicans retake the Senate in November's midterm elections and he becomes chairman of a committee. Paul stands to become chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pensions (HELP) Committee if Republicans flip the 50-50 upper chamber. The current HELP ranking member, Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.), is retiring."If we win in November, if I'm chairman of a committee, if I have subpoena power, we'll go after every one of [Fauci's] records," Paul said during an interview with conservative podcast host Lisa Boothe. Abstract The emergent outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), has emphasized the requirement for therapeutic opportunities to overcome this pandemic. Ivermectin is an antiparasitic drug that has shown to be effective against various agents, including SARS-CoV-2, and is under extensive research in clinical trials. In this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial among adult hospitalized patients with mild-to-moderate COVID-19, 72 patients (mean age 48.57 ± 14.80 years) were randomly assigned to either the ivermectin (n=36) or placebo (n=36) group, along with receiving standard care. The primary outcomes were a negative reverse transcription polymerase chain...

"And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay." "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth." "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with...
