University of Pennsylvania law professor Amy Wax over the last five years has repeatedly enraged students with her racist comments, first calling into question the academic ability of Black students and most recently saying the country would be better off with fewer Asians and less Asian immigration. While Penn has condemned her speech and in 2018 removed her from teaching mandatory courses, she has kept her job and the prestige of working for an Ivy League university. But that may be about to change.

More than 40 years after Al Gore started sounding the alarm that global warming threatened the planet and human existence, the former vice president is still preaching the perils of climate change. Gore’s 2006 film An Inconvenient Truth made him a wealthy man and he won an Oscar and a Nobel Peace Prize, even though his predictions have not panned out.

What is the highest "Roman numeral" or descendant name in use in the world today? As a golf fan, I know of two men who use III in their surname (Davis Love and Notah Begay) but there's a senior golfer named David Morland who uses IV. Guessing he isn't the answer to my question, anyone know of people with higher numerals in use? (no Pope examples thanks).

A reader directed me to this Twitter thread from someone who goes by the name Hazard Harrington, who works in Silicon Valley. I have no way of verifying the truth of the person or his position, but it certainly squares with a lot of other accounts of how woefully woke Silicon Valley has become—the more so in the time of COVID—so I am reasonably confident it is authentic: I work in Big Tech. A name you would know and have probably used before. Wanted to give a rundown of what it’s like from the inside right now. Obviously insanely radically...

Sean Williams is living proof that giving blood is a lifesaver. In 2008, Williams nearly died following a skydiving accident in Southern California. After receiving 48 units of blood during multiple surgeries, Williams survived the harrowing experience, which even included being pronounced dead at one time. Now, 13 years later, the San Luis Obispo resident works for Vitalant, and is not only inspiring others with his story, he's helping make sure other people who are need of blood have access to the precious gift. Williams is hoping his story will let others know just how important blood donations and why...
  • TheHill.com YouTube temporarily suspends, demonetizes Dan Bongino's channel

YouTube took action against conservative commentator Dan Bongino’s channel Friday, suspending it for violating the platform’s COVID-19 misinformation policy and demonetizing it for at least 30 days. The weeklong posting suspension stems from a video where Bongino said that masks are “useless” in stopping the spread of the disease. YouTube’s COVID-19 policy specifically prohibits content denying the effectiveness of wearing masks, which the vast majority of the scientific community agrees reduces the risk of infection. The video was Bongino’s first “strike” under the policy, resulting in a one-week suspension from posting.

Joe Biden wants everyone to be vaccinated against the China Virus commonly known as Covid-19. Whether that’s a good idea or not is at this point an open question. The vaccines and boosters currently available appear to be ineffective at preventing people from catching the virus, but there is evidence often interpreted as proof that they are effective in reducing the danger of the virus to those who do catch it. There is also evidence often interpreted as proof that they are dangerous, often causing severe heart ailments in otherwise healthy people. The oddity here is that the virus may...

When she’s not the target of kidnapping plots hatched by FBI operatives, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is burying COVID death counts. Yes, she took a page from Andrew Cuomo’s playbook on the number of COVID deaths from nursing homes. Now, the undercount is not as high as Cuomo’s but it’s significant. It could be between 30-40 percent. At a minimum, Michigan’s nursing home deaths are 30 percent higher than the initial total. I would say that’s an impeachable offense (via Fox News): Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer's administration undercounted the COVID-19 deaths in the state's long-term care facilities by 30%, according...

We’ve seen this coming for a while now, like a slow-motion train wreck. After the National School Board Association (NSBA) sent a letter to the Biden administration comparing parents to domestic terrorists and even suggesting the PATRIOT Act might be used to reign them in. That turned out to be the last straw for a lot of parents and maybe also for the NSBA. The group apologized for the letter in late October but by that point the damage was done. Within days, five state associations canceled their membership in the national group. By early December the number of associations...

Three PayPal users who've allegedly had their accounts frozen and funds taken by the company without explanation have filed a federal lawsuit against the online payment service. The plaintiffs — two users from California and one from Chicago — are accusing the company of unlawfully seizing their personal property and violating racketeering laws. They're now proposing a class-action lawsuit on behalf of all other users who've had their accounts frozen before and are seeking restitution, as well as punitive and exemplary damages. Lena Evans, one of the plaintiffs who'd been a PayPal user for 22 years, said the website seized...
