[Catholic Caucus] Preparing for the Next Conclave (1) Entry into conclave, March 12, 2013During the meeting he had with his fellow Jesuits in Slovakia on September 12, 2021, Pope Francis denounced the suspicious behavior of certain prelates, during and after his surgery on July 4. “They were preparing for the conclave,” he said. The revelation of some sort of conspiracy to prepare for his succession has aroused the astonishment of several commentators, including that of Giovanni Butta, which was reported on the Aldo Maria Valli website on September 28. The surprise did not come so much from the content of...

The Port of Los Angeles has announced plans to begin charging ocean carriers a dwell fee for empty containers lingering in marine terminals to combat congestion, adding pressure for carriers to pick up empties for transport back to Asia. The fee will be similar to the import container dwell fee announced in late October, which has yet to be implemented. The new empty fee is still subject to approval by the Los Angeles Harbor Commission and would take effect on January 30, 2022, at the discretion of the Executive Director.

The Archdiocese of Santa Fe’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy efforts have plodded along for three years with no end visible in the case involving more than 400 clergy abuse victims. Lawyers say three years is a comparatively long time for Chapter 11 proceedings but is far from unheard of. It’s in everyone’s interests — the archdiocese’s and the victims’ — to resolve it through Chapter 11, attorneys say. Therefore, an eventual settlement is still expected. “The alternatives are so bad that it’s worth it to stay in the game,” Laura Coordes, associate professor of law at Arizona State University, said of...

Skip to the lower half of this thread post to read 4 pages of the bill amended for NYS's 2021-2022 session. The night sky has several treats in store for 2022: Expect lunar eclipses, a planetary alignment and meteor showers! The new year brings not one, but two total lunar eclipses -- the first on the night of May 15-16 and the last on Nov. 8... The May total lunar eclipse will be visible throughout the entire contiguous U.S., weather permitting of course. Unfortunately for West Coasters, the eclipse will only be visible briefly. The Western U.S., however, has an advantage for the November lunar eclipse, as the moon will set just before the height of the eclipse on the East...

Readers likely are familiar with the bleak state of American higher education. The U.S. spends more per student than most of its peers, yet comparative-academic-proficiency studies from the Pew Foundation and others consistently rank us in the middle or bottom rungs. Literacy rates are lower today than in 1840, well before the imposition of compulsory public education. University campuses have become pedagogic citadels of woke-ism. What is less understood is the degree to which these same forces have invaded the nation’s primary and secondary public schools. From Loudoun County to Cupertino, the K-12 public-education system is subverting our shared welfare....

Chief Justice John Roberts asserted the independence of the federal courts from what he called "inappropriate political influence," in a year-end report released Friday that comes amid widespread political criticism of the Supreme Court, and calls to dramatically reform its structure.

Over the last couple of years, I’ve become a “baby conspiracy theorist.” I was pretty much a “normie” before the pandemic struck and I’ve been playing catch-up ever since. But one name that has been in conspiracy theory circles since the first conspiracy theory circles were formed is the Rothschild banking empire. This is why it was conspicuous that their name has stayed relatively below the radar during the rise of The Great Reset. While we’ve all been focused on Bill Gates, George Soros, Klaus Schwab, Joe Biden, Prince Charles, the Pope, Xi Jinping, Barack Obama, Anthony Fauci, and all...

The United States is continuing to see a spike in COVID-19 cases and things don't seem to be slowing down any time soon. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released new estimates on coronavirus cases Wednesday (December 29), which predict more than 44,000 Americans could die from the virus during the next month. The CDC reports the death toll in relation to the virus has already increased by about 18%, with an average of 1,546 deaths per day, according to the data released by the agency. The data also showed the U.S. hit a new seven-day average record...

Throughout the pandemic, we’ve been bombarded with the problematic opinions of certain classic rock stars related to the science behind COVID-19 prevention and treatment, and now it looks as though we’re moving on to the next generation. On Thursday, Julian Lennon and Sean Ono Lennon — sons of the late John Lennon, of course — advocated for ivermectin as a potential coronavirus cure, despite FDA warnings against taking it to treat the virus. After revealing that he has COVID-19 (“Omicron finally got me. Happy Holidaze they are not. Stay Safe out there!” he wrote), Julian Lennon posted a photo of...

While the jury was busy hearing Ghislaine Maxwell’s case in her recently concluded trial, there was some other action related to her perverted boss taking place quietly in the background. Insider is reporting that the charges against Tova Noel and Michael Thomas, the guards charged with sleeping on the job while Epstein supposedly killed himself, were dropped. The timing of this decision was certainly curious, as was the fact that the decision to drop the charges wasn’t made public for more than two weeks. A public status conference for the case against the guards had been scheduled for December 15th,...

The IRS doesn’t want you to forget to include income from dealing illegal drugs or stolen property on your tax forms this year. “Income from illegal activities, such as money from dealing illegal drugs, must be included in your income on Schedule 1 (Form 1040), line 8z, or on Schedule C (Form 1040) if from your self-employment activity,” the IRS’ website states. The list was created to help those preparing their 2021 tax returns. It also mentions stolen property — unless it’s returned to the owner. “If you steal property, you must report its fair market value in your income...

Unfortunately, this year is going out as it came in, with some bad news. Betty White, the trailblazing comedienne who had an unforgettable television career that included “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “The Golden Girls” has died. Her 100th birthday would have been January 17, and she’d been featured in a People article about looking forward to that event in which she described herself as ever the “cock-eyed optimist.” The news was first broken by TMZ, which was told by law enforcement sources. From NY Post: The eight-time Emmy winner held the record for the longest TV career of...

[Catholic Caucus] The St Gallen ‘Mafia’ Is the ‘Skeleton Key’ Helping to Unlock Many Riddles of Francis’ Pontificate, Says AuthorAlthough the “St Gallen Mafia” is well known to most who follow the papacy and the Vatican, the vast majority of Catholics are unlikely to have ever heard of it.And yet this group’s influence on the direction of the Church and all of the current and recent upheavals of this pontificate cannot be overestimated.Founded in the mid-1990s, the clandestine group of high-ranking churchmen began gathering in the Swiss city of St Gallen to oppose a Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger papacy.Hosted by St...
