The staff report released Friday was a summation of the year's work investigating political interference in the pandemic response from Trump officials and the former president himself.

A Christmas REALITY - Mary Needed a Savior! Just a thought for this Christmas season. One of the greatest myths in all of Christendom is that Mary (Miriam) - the young Jewish girl of king David's line - who gave birth to the Savior of the world was sinless. I myself was taught this as a boy in the Catholic church and it wasn't till I was born again and started reading the Holy Scriptures for myself that I saw the true folly of such a myth. My dear friends, no greater lie could ever be told or fantasy ever...

Our year in reading, featuring book recommendations from Federalist writers and contributors.Last year around this time, I lamented the end of 2020 with the expectation that better times had to be lurking around the corner. Well, I sincerely hope you had a good year, but it seems like the year was defined by inflation, the Afghanistan debacle, lapsing back into more COVID restrictions, and other disasters. In other words, it was the second year in a row to retreat into a book and at least forget about day-to-day affairs for a while. With that in mind we bring you The Federalist’s...

Some states expand use of mail-in ballots—while others are limiting their use over security concerns.. After the unprecedented expansion of mail-in voting in the 2020 election, dozens of states changed their mail-in voting rules. Republican-leaning states tended to introduce measures to make voting more secure, but less convenient. Democrat-leaning states were more likely on the opposite track. At least 36 states passed bills pertaining in some way to mail-in voting, according to the left-leaning Voting Rights Lab. Much of the change pertained to issues arising out of the 2020 election, where many states relaxed rules on absentee voting using the...

Billionaire Elon Musk has made a name for himself recently by mocking the left’s nonsensical multitrillion-dollar economic agenda. Two major media personalities have said he’s a good fit to replace Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell. Forbes Media Chairman Steve Forbes and Fox Business host Larry Kudlow both gave the world’s richest man their endorsement for the top position at the Fed during the Dec. 16 edition of Kudlow. During the beginning of his segment with Forbes, Kudlow asked: “[W]hy doesn't Jay Powell and the Fed have the backbone to take aggressive action to curb record-high inflation? By the way, if...

Small, unique antibody-like proteins known as VNARs—derived from the immune systems of sharks—can prevent the virus that causes COVID-19, its variants, and related coronaviruses from infecting human cells, according to a new study published Dec. 16. The new VNARs will not be immediately available as a treatment in people, but they can help prepare for future coronavirus outbreaks. The shark VNARs were able to neutralize WIV1-CoV, a coronavirus that is capable of infecting human cells but currently circulates only in bats, where SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, likely originated. Developing treatments for such animal-borne viruses ahead of time can...

A new study published in The BMJ confirms previous reports of an increased risk of heart inflammation (myocarditis or myopericarditis) after vaccination with BNT162b2 (Pfizer-BioNTech) and mRNA-1273 (Moderna) but shows that the absolute number of cases was low, even in younger age groups, providing further evidence to support the overall safety of mRNA vaccines for covid-19. Just 1.6 cases per 100,000 in younger individuals (12-39 years) after Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine; Findings support the overall safety of mRNA vaccines for covid-19. A study published by The BMJ today (December 16, 2021) provides more reassuring data on the risk of heart inflammation (myocarditis...

Women can now terminate a pregnancy without leaving home by mail-ordering abortion pills, a new means of accessing abortion care that’s recently gained a footing in many states — including Illinois — as reproductive rights become increasingly under fire across large swaths of the country. The Food and Drug Administration on Thursday eased long-standing medication abortion restrictions that once required clinicians to dispense the medicine in person, a historic decision lauded by reproductive rights activists and condemned by abortion opponents. The FDA had already temporarily waived these requirements due to the unique challenges patients faced to accessing clinics and hospitals...

A U.S. district judge on Wednesday issued a sentence against a couple who took part in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot that went beyond what prosecutors recommended, giving them jail time. The Department of Justice (DOJ) had asked that Brandon Miller and his wife Stephanie Miller be sentenced to home confinement as part of a 36-month probationary period. The Ohio couple was charged with entering the Capitol, with Brandon Miller livestreaming their actions on Facebook. As WUSA reported, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan ruled, however, that their actions warranted time behind bars. "They didn’t just walk through a door. They...

WASHINGTON — All of the U.S. military services have now begun disciplinary actions and discharges for troops who have refused to get the mandated coronavirus vaccine, officials said, with as many as 20,000 unvaccinated forces at risk of being removed from service. On Thursday, the Marine Corps said it has discharged 103 Marines so far for refusing the vaccine, and the Army said it has reprimanded more than 2,700 soldiers and will begin discharge proceedings in January. The Air Force said earlier this week that 27 airmen had been discharged for refusing the vaccine order. And the Navy laid out...

Here’s a question -- what happens when you crush entire sectors of your own economy for nearly two years and then, to compensate for your crime, you decide to inject trillions of dollars of freshly printed cash into the system? What happens if you do that? Well, honestly, we don't really know what happens when you do that, because no one in history has ever been stupid enough to try it. It's going to be years before we really understand the consequences of all this, of our government's reckless coronavirus policy. But in the meantime, we can say with total...

Officials from big cities with vaccine mandates for public places say they don't expect the mandates to be permanent. But they also don't have a clear plan for when or how they will lift the mandates that require millions of Americans to show documents to enter restaurants, gyms and more. "It doesn't come with an end date because we don't know what's coming," Philadelphia Health Commissioner Cheryl Bettigole said of her city's vaccine mandate for restaurants. "We have winter and omicron on the horizon. It's very hard to predict what could happen next. We do want to roll this back...

University of Pennsylvania swimmer “Lia” Thomas (real given name “Will”), who has been shattering women’s records along with their dreams. In fact, he apparently is so proud about beating the girls — who he, if he was like so many other boys, was told for decades can do anything “as well or better” — that he boasted about burying them in the pool. “That was so easy, I was cruising,” Thomas reportedly said after a 200 freestyle event.
