A U.S. district judge on Wednesday issued a sentence against a couple who took part in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot that went beyond what prosecutors recommended, giving them jail time.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) had asked that Brandon Miller and his wife Stephanie Miller be sentenced to home confinement as part of a 36-month probationary period. The Ohio couple was charged with entering the Capitol, with Brandon Miller livestreaming their actions on Facebook.
As WUSA reported, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan ruled, however, that their actions warranted time behind bars.
"They didn’t just walk through a door. They climbed through a broken window ... they knew full well of the violence that had preceded their entry,” Chutkan said. “The fact is that they were part of a mob ... that was intent on stopping the lawful transfer of power.”
“It amounted to an attempted overthrow of the government,” she added. “I don’t believe that’s hyperbole.”
Brandon Miller was sentenced to 20 days in jail, and Stephanie Miller was sentenced to 14 days.
"The country is watching,” Chutkan said. “There have to be consequences for participating in the attempted violent overthrow of the government."

Something needs to be done about this
He didn’t just go through a door, he went through a door that was being held open for him by Capitol police (in all likelihood).
They should have lit a police car on fire, and burned down some buildings, and wore a BLM hat, they would be okay then.
So climbing through a broken window in the Capital and walking around for a few minutes, unarmed, without assaulting anyone, and then leaving, is “attempting to over throw the government”. Just wow. Who knew it was so easy to topple a government?
And, a few months earlier a few blocks away, burning down an historic Church directly across the street from the White House results in no arrests and no effort to find anyone responsible.
obamacommie in the District of Commies
Who’d have thunk a Jamaican appointed by Ubama would sentence any differently.
If so, that was the lamest attempted overthrow I've ever seen.
BORN IN JAMAICA.....THAT! is what is wrong with this country. Too many foreigners allowed to come here and not leave..
From the piece:
“I never hear any remorse for the people who suffered that day,” Chutkan said, according to WUSA. “For the police officers who lost their lives. For the people who worked in that building who were terrified they’d never see their families again. All I hear about is how the defendants suffered.”
All those officers that were gunned down eh judge? She failed to mention the near rape and murder of aoc. Butt, appointed by obxxx so what else would be expected?
This couple should be grateful the good judge didn’t sentence them to the same kind of beating Pelosi’s capitol hill cops meted out to some of the other protestors that day.
An example must be made of those among the hoipoloi who think they still have a say in how their country is run. The country is watching.
If they didn’t bring a lethal weapon, it was a protest, not an overthrow, even if it was through a broken window.
My guess is, saying "BOO!" to this judge could be construed as attempted murder.
???
There is a sickening shortage of information about how these prisoners are suffering.
yeah silly hats and selfies... OOooOOooo sooooo scary!
Obola was not a real President ... but a FRAUD like Xiden
who fills the place for Obola’s third (illegal) term.
Every “law” and appointment should be removed.
Well apparently her judgeness has special access to the info. Peons? Not so much. Marjorie Taylor Greene has been to see them and isn’t happy but the d.c. jailers don’t care.
Dirtbag coupist and convicted felon Kevin Clinesmith in in good standing with the DC bar and free to continue is law career. Guilty as sin. Free as a bird. No jail time served there. This is what one party state fascism looks like.
