“Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!” (Romans 7:24-25). Christians have been delivered from sin’s power and will one day be delivered from its presence. The godly Puritan writer Thomas Watson once said that a sure sign of sanctification is a hatred and loathing of sin. It was his hatred of sin that caused Paul to cry out as he wrapped up his spiritual autobiography, “Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death?” That...

The 34-year-old woman, who reported to police with a lawyer, initially denied cutting the rope. On Wednesday, when local authorities showed her the video footage and forensic evidence, the Bangkok Post reported, she conceded that she had done so but told police she never intended to kill the workers. She cut the rope, she explained, out of annoyance because she did not see the condo’s notice alerting residents of the planned work, the Bangkok Post reported. One of the painters, a Myanmar national who identified himself as Song, told local media that he and his two colleagues had lowered themselves...

Biden tours Rome with 85-vehicle motorcade ahead of ‘climate’ summit President Biden on Friday cruised through Rome with an 85-vehicle motorcade — drawing criticism for the poor optics ahead of a global warming summit in Glasgow, Scotland, to which Biden is bringing about a dozen top US officials. “Biden arriving at the Vatican. His motorcade is lonnnnnng,” tweeted Washington Post reporter Chico Harlan, along with a video of the procession. “#Decarbonize this,” one person captioned the video. “America’s Marie Antoinette class is Washington’s elites – and that shows it,” another person responded. Biden routinely says there’s a “climate crisis” caused...

A prominent Boston surgeon ditched a patient in an operating room to have lunch in his car — and then fell asleep and missed the surgery, state regulators found. Dr. Tony Tannoury, head of spine surgery at Boston Medical Center, admitted to the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine to missing the emergency ankle surgery in November 2016, the Boston Globe reported Wednesday. Tannoury, who took the patient into the operating room as the attending surgeon, then left the hospital and “bought something to eat in his parked car and fell asleep in the vehicle,” according to a consent order...

I broke a tooth recently, which caused me to look at ways to improve the strength of my teeth. One of the things I decided to do (besides being careful about ingesting processed sugar) was to drink milk again–for the calcium, phosphorous, Vitamin A and D. And for additional protein too as I’ve been lifting heavy weights. And yet, deep down, I knew that there are other ways to get the nutrients I need without having to drink milk. Yet, I kept at it. This morning, like too many mornings I’d care to admit to, I woke up with a...

The new case occurred in the city of Dongguan, in a context in which the increase in people infected with bird flu in China during 2021 is generating concern among experts, who explain that the current situation is probably given by the mutation of a strain that has become much more infectious to humans than its predecessors.During the current year, China has reported 21 cases of human infections with the H5N6 subtype...

On May 7, 2019, Lisa Lemble and Robert Gordon cut the ribbon on Ann Arbor, Michigan’s first curbside electric vehicle charger. It was an ordeal that required nearly a year of negotiation and permitting, and cost the couple about $15,000. “Mainly we want people to know that if they live in the city of Ann Arbor and don’t have a driveway and don’t have access to a garage, that it’s possible to put in a charging station curbside,” Lemble said at the time. Possible, yes. Easy, no. More than two years after the Tesla-owning couple installed their dual-nozzle Level 2...

Local market horror TV hosts have helped us through nights for decades, using their quirky personalities to introduce popular, creepy or plain old bad movies - in most instances these were the pre-cable days that lent themselves to captive audiences. The popular figure that embodied this genre was Elvira (Mistress of the Dark). Unknown to an unfortunately large number of people, her meteoric rise would not have happened without local horror tv hosts building their audiences. A few of these horror hosts became icons and gained national attention for their characters. However, most of these hosts were only seen locally...

An October survey conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) found that 37% of unvaccinated adult participants say they would leave their job if forced to either get a COVID-19 vaccine or take a weekly test. And if their employer mandated the vaccine and didn’t offer the testing option, 72% of unvaccinated workers say they would quit. The percentage of unvaccinated adult participants who say they would quit if vaccines were a requirement equates to roughly 9% of all adults, according to KFF, a nonprofit focusing on national health issues. **SNIP** "About a fifth (21%) of workers say that they...

How to interact with the Democrats in our lives is an issue many Republicans have wrestled with for some time. Frequently we maintain a “no fly zone” when it comes to discussing politics with Democrat friends and family members, often by unspoken mutual agreement. We prioritize the relationship and do not want to damage it because of political differences -- there are other bonds through which we maintain our connection. A February 2020 Pew report bears out this approach -- almost half of all adults in the U.S. have stopped discussing politics with someone. Less cordial interactions, however, are not...

KENOSHA, Wis. — In the weeks leading up to Kyle Rittenhouse’s murder trial, attorneys on both sides made clear they wanted prospective jurors to fill out questionnaires before the selection process began. It was a fairly routine request, given judges and attorneys across the country have relied upon such forms for decades in high-profile trials to identify people with potential biases and conflicts of interest. But Kenosha Circuit Judge Bruce Schroeder wouldn’t hear of it...... Local attorneys say the decision reflects Schroeder’s penchant for giving defendants wide latitude to tell jurors their side of the story. Several told the Tribune...

It is sad that it seems every day we read another dire forecast from the UN, Kerry, Biden, the teenager Greta, or someone else on climate change, and right now is always the last chance to act. Every solution involves the government confiscating a huge amount of money from taxpayers and then the U.S transferring huge sums to other countries to resolve the problem. Every solution involves Americans giving up their freedom and way of life while destroying the oil industry. What you don’t see in these dire forecasts are any scientific data from the last 150 years that directly...
