After numerous failed attempts, Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers caught up with a bull elk that had worn an old tire around its neck for approximately two years. “We would have preferred to cut the tire and leave the antlers for his rutting activity,” Murdoch said, “but the situation was dynamic and we had to just get the tire off in any way possible.” Why we cut the antlers off & not the tire: 1⃣ We tried, sawzall was slow going thru steel in the bead of the tire 2⃣ The animal was under anesthesia, time was limited 3⃣ Does...

Is it wrong to ask pilots to simply fly the plane and save workplace grievances for after hours? The operational woes for Southwest Airlines continue. Yesterday, the Dallas-based carrier cancelled 435 flights and delayed 1530, disrupting over half of its schedule. Already this morning delays and cancellations are ticking up and will get worse as the day progresses. We’ve speculated about the root cause of these delays…I won’t do that again today beyond saying that I am more convinced than ever that vaccine resistance is one factor in this string of operational meltdowns, even if just a small one. Instead,...

Update – October 12, 2021 8:45 a.m. ET Young America’s Foundation is closely monitoring the Alisal Fire near Rancho del Cielo and taking all necessary precautions. This fire started on Monday, October 11, near the Alisal Reservoir and has covered more than 3,900 acres. The fire has closed Refugio Road and portions of Highway 101. It is spreading throughout an area that has not burned since 1955, and current conditions—high winds, warm temperatures, and low humidity—are fueling the fire’s spread. Darkness and winds stopped the tanker planes from being able to drop over the fire last night. Young America’s Foundation...

She allegedly provided alcohol, such as beer, vodka and Fireball whiskey, and also handed out condoms, a news release from the DA’s office stated. The parties took place over an eight-month period and began prior to the defendant’s son turning 15, according to the DA’s office. Most of the attendees were 14 and 15 years old at the time. During one of the parties for about five 14-year-olds that was held on New Year’s Eve, “the defendant watched and laughed as a drunk teen sexually battered a young girl in bed,” prosecutors allege.

Southwest Airlines and American Airlines, both based in Texas, said Tuesday that they will continue plans to require employees to get vaccinated, despite an edict issued by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott that would ban vaccine mandates for private businesses in the state. "Federal action supersedes any state mandate or law, and we would be expected to comply with the President's Order to remain compliant as a federal contractor," Southwest said in a statement to POLITICO, referencing the Biden administration's requirement that government contractors be vaccinated by Dec. 8. "We will continue to follow all orders closely and keep our employees...

Disney+ lionizes the good doctor in a ludicrous hagiography [cut] What we do hear, a lot, is how hard Fauci works. They tell us repeatedly about his 12-hour days at NIH, after which the family would eat dinner together, no matter how late he came home. While these anecdotes certainly have their charm, and a strong work ethic is admirable and sympathetic, the film yet again gives us no details. In a 90-minute movie about a man’s professional life, with repeated references to how long and hard he works, it never tells us what–beyond a job title–he actually does at...

The CDC adopted a "double-standard exclusively for COVID-19 data collection" that inflated cases and deaths starting early in the pandemic, violating multiple federal laws and distorting mitigation policies, Oregon lawmakers told the feds' top lawyer in the state. Advised by "a large team of world-renowned doctors, epidemiologists, virologists, and attorneys," state Senators Kim Thatcher and Dennis Linthicum petitioned U.S. Attorney Scott Asphaug to approve a grand jury investigation into how the pandemic is being measured. "Public health policy must be based upon accurate and independently verifiable data to optimize outcomes and strengthen the public's trust in the people leading them...

Danish Crown CEO Jais Valeur told Denmark’s Berlingske newspaper on Monday that beef will eventually become a “luxury product” because of the climate impact of producing it. “Beef is not going to be super climate friendly. It will be a bit like champagne, namely a luxury product,” Valeur said. “The beef cattle will be a luxury product that we eat when we need to pamper ourselves.” Valeur said the way people consume and think about meat is going to...
