I don’t think so. The GOP may have higher hopes for him. Push the rats button. Either Senate or even-heaven forbid-SCOTUS. Young. That fries them.

I have no idea what this guy is about but since he's a dem, he's the enemy. I'll just assume he's retiring because he feels they've inflicted enough damage.

was it redistricted at some point? KY-3 was safe republican until 2006, when GWB lost it for us, then Yarmuth somehow kept it D in 2010 and has had comfortable 60+ margins ever since.

Maybe he is a Christian and heard Robin Bullock talk about how anyone voting for a democrat is in grave danger of judgment. It’s called premeditated murder. The deaths of these babies will be vindicated by the Lord God Almighty.

Another Democrat/communist that knows how to read REAL polls.

This is the horse’s ash that said “The federal government has an endless amount of money,” last week.
I guess he realizes that’s just not true.
And yes, another rodent bites the dust!!

I have no idea. I do know that it takes up just about all of Louisville so it's not surprising it's a solid D.

It was never “safe” GOP - it was knock down drag out battle every election that we somehow managed to win for a decade. Granted, Anne Northup was an excellent candidate and fought tooth and nail each time. The political winds were just too much for her in 2006.

After seven two-year terms as a politician, Yarmuth is a poster child for the reason we desperately need TERM LIMITS.

16 years (2006-2022) is too much. IMHO, 6 House terms is more than enough.

If we see a wave of Democrat retirements it might be a sign that they don’t believe the Party is going to be able to manipulate the voting and vote counting the way it was done in 2020 and tried in 2016.

Part of the reasoning had to do with the GOP’s very weak presence in state government (and especially state gubmint patronage), this was only broken in recent years when the GOP took the legislature.

When Ernie Fletcher won the Governorship in 2003 (the first Republican elected in 36 years), he went to tackling that problem of limitless Demonrat hacks in state government. The corrupt Demonrat AG spent 4 years attacking the Governor for daring to touch their corrupt patronage armies, and the end result was Fletcher lost reelection as he was falsely painted as corrupt. Matt Bevin, the next Republican elected in 2015, did a decent enough job, but he was also under attack by statist forces, and was also politically tone-deaf (he wasn’t really a politician), and between the corrupt Demonrats & their RINO Derp State allies, they worked to narrowly defeat him in 2019. The present Demonrat Governor has sky-high disapproval ratings and will not be reelected in 2023.

The same way Joe Biden got elected. Never purge a valuable Dead voter. Or remove one when they move out of state.
And in KY you fight to keep a crooked Democrat party boot licker in the Secretary of States office at any cost.
Allison Lundergan Grimes, Even if her father former Clinton campaign donation bundler Jerry Lundergran has been convicted of illegal fundraising involving her campaign.
Of course no link to her knowing about the crime can be found.
It’s Unfortunate here in KY we can’t seem to break the cycle.
