“The settlement money came from the April 2017 death of Lopez’s son Isiah Murrietta-Golding. Fresno police said he was a murder suspect and pulled over the teen at a shopping center, according to the Fresno Bee. Soon after Murrietta-Golding got out of the car, he bolted away from the officers.

As he was fleeing, Sgt. Ray Villalvazo shot the teen in the back of the head. Body-camera footage released by Lopez’s lawyers recorded a fellow officer saying “good shot,” according to the Bee.”

Dirty cops don’t rate my sympathies.

When I was young it was not wise to run from cops. There was a Fleeing Felon rule. If you ran you were assumed to be a felon.

You can buy a gun as a gift as long as the recipient fills out the paperwork and passes the background check before taking the delivery.
You can buy a gun for yourself, keep it in your possession for a period of time, then give it as a gift. ( this way the time period and your behavior must show that you intended it for yourself initially).
Buy a gun with the predetermined intent to transfer it to another individual outside an immediate family member, like a daughter on her 18th or 21st birthday then BATF owns your butt.

Did she fill out the proper paperwork for them? Survive the waiting period?

I recognize a George Costanza quote when I read it.
