Starting bid is just 2 mill. Current high bid is this amount. https://realestatesales.gov/gsaauctions/aucpbsindx/?sl=DCNCR021001001Nike was an interesting program. Rings of missile defense placed around certain cities in the US. Simple concept - if there was an incoming missile, just fire up a tactical nuke to take it out. Like in horseshoes, you just need to get close. Unfortunately they realized the fallout might be a bit of a problem and the program was terminated. So we never got to actually send one up. :<

The Socialist Left government of the state of Victoria has shifted the goalposts again. Now the lockdown, the imprisonment of 5 million people in their own homes, does not depend on how prevalent the Coronavirus is. It depends on how many people have been vaccinated. People are being driven out of their minds as children want to kill themselves and businesses go under and the mad nanny state ignores the numbers on the virus and says to the people you can have your normal life back only if enough of you have had the vaccine. "Victorian businesses ‘shattered’ by Andrews’...

More than 800,000 Soldiers, Airmen, Marines and Navy Sailors served in the war in Afghanistan. I am one of them. I worked the streets of Kabul on my last deployment. Day, and night we trudged the mind- bending, stomach- turning streets of the overcrowded streets of Kabul. It amazed me how many people could fit on the back of one motor bike, and how daring civilians were to jump right in front of an armored vehicle with the horn blaring with seemingly no regard for their personal safety. I became a man there too. I learned a lot about myself....

In Japan, 1.6 million doses of Moderna's coronavirus vaccine have been withdrawn from use because they are contaminated by foreign matter. "It's a substance that reacts to magnets," a ministry official said. "It could be metal." A Moderna spokesperson confirmed receiving several complaints of particulate matter in vaccine vials distributed in Japan, but denied there were any safety or efficacy issues to be worried about. "Hundreds of millions of people have received this vaccine. A much smaller number have been magnetized, killed or otherwise harmed by it." In the United Kingdom, the Francis Crick Institute conducted a test for antibodies...

LOS ANGELES—Sunday evening I was standing in an excited crowd at a Long Beach fundraiser for Larry Elder’s California gubernatorial campaign when I received a text with the headline “Gov. Newsom Pivots Recall Speeches To Attack Larry Elder’s Political Opinions.”Article by Roger L. Simon from our news partners at The Epoch Times. The article was from the California Globe, a publication I had never heard of, and was dated Aug. 17, ages ago in the whirlwind pace of today’s politics, but it caught my eye because it quoted extensively from Gavin Newsom’s stump speech, which ran in part:“Though we defeated Trump,...

Fifty years ago this August, United States President Richard Nixon went on TV right before Bonanza, a popular western series starring Canadian Lorne Greene, and shocked the world. Nixon unhitched the U.S. dollar from the value of gold. The move changed the global monetary system almost overnight. The eventual result was the floating international exchange rates we still use today.

Editor's note: The following is an excerpt from "What to Say When" by Shawn Carney and Steve Karlen. What Not to SayMeaningful conversations, whether they go well or not, leave us thinking later, “I wish I would have said this” or “I wish I would have thought of that.” In such polarizing times, wording is important and saying the wrong thing could derail a conversation--especially when discussing sensitive conversations like abortion. The points we shouldn’t make, that don’t advance the conversation in a grace-filled way, will do the opposite. They can concede ground (without us even realizing it) or convey disrespect...

While animal rescue groups across the globe race to get dogs out of Afghanistan, Pentagon officials want to be very clear: The U.S. military did not leave any of its working dogs behind. Viral photos purporting to show dogs locked in cages at Hamid Karzai International Airport have raised the hackles of U.S. lawmakers and dog lovers alike. But the photos are not of military working dogs, as the American Humane Society and others have suggested. “ “To correct erroneous reports, the U.S. military did not leave any dogs in cages at Hamid Karzai International Airport, to include the reported...

Universities and colleges have responded to the pandemic with widely differing approaches from mandated vaccines to bimonthly testing. Amherst College however, stands out in its prohibition of off-campus travel without the express approval of the school. The rule has triggered a backlash by students.Under the college’s August 25 guidelines (active through September 13), “Students may visit the town of Amherst, masked when indoors, in order to conduct business (opening bank accounts, picking up prescriptions, etc.) during regular business hours, but may not go to restaurants or bars.” However, other “off-campus travel,” with the exception of travel to other nearby universities...

Pediatricians and other health care workers are suing the Biden administration over a mandate that would require medical professionals to provide gender-related services regardless of any medical objections. Indeed, any objections, even in terms of treatment on children, would be considered “discrimination.” As reported by the Daily Wire, the American College of Pediatricians, the Catholic Medical Association, and an OB-GYN doctor who specializes in caring for adolescents filed the lawsuit in federal court. The lawsuit, American Colleges of Pediatricians v. Becerra, was filed Thursday with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The Alliance Defending...
