The Democratic National Committee and other White House allies want wireless carriers to scrutinize phone and social media messages for alleged misinformation about the Biden administration’s push to vaccinate more Americans against the coronavirus, Politico reported Monday. According to the outlet, the White House is pushing back harder against critics of its messaging after failing to reach the goal of having 70 percent of American adults receive at least one vaccine dose by July 4. Part of that effort, Politico reported, is “planning to engage fact-checkers more aggressively and work with SMS [Short Message Service] carriers to dispel misinformation about...

A teacher who went into hiding because of protests and threats against him for showing a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad has still not returned to his home or job. Last month an independent inquiry into the incident at Batley Grammar School, West Yorkshire, found that the teacher had not meant to cause offence when the image was shown in his religious studies lesson. The teacher was suspended in March. Following an investigation, his suspension was lifted, but the West Yorkshire teacher, who continues to remain in hiding with his family, has refused to return to the school over fears...

A new report prepared by Marine Lt. Gen. Robert Schmidle and Rear Adm. Mark Montgomery, both retired, for members of Congress paints a portrait of the Navy as an institution adrift. The report, first reported by the Journal and commissioned by Sen. Tom Cotton, Reps. Mike Gallagher, Dan Crenshaw and Jim Banks, concludes that the surface Navy is not focused on preparing for war and is weathering a crisis in leadership and culture. The impetus for the report was a series of recent catastrophes—a ship burning in San Diego last year; two destroyer collisions in the Pacific in 2017. Were...

Five reasons not to fear coronavirus variantsFrom Pfizer’s former VP calling them ‘irrelevant propaganda’ to evidence that natural immunity slaughters a host of COVID-19 variants, there’s good reason to ignore the media’s fear-mongering.July 12, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – It was predictable that soon after the mass COVID-19 vaccine campaign rolled out, if the shots began failing, the media would turn into scapegoats people who didn’t rush into line-ups for the fast-tracked, experimental pharmaceutical injections. The latest COVID narrative is well underway. Thousands of fully vaccinated people are testing positive for the disease – so many, the government has stopped counting cases of...

Plotted to block the certification of Joe Biden’s election victory: Check. Discussed bringing weapons into Washington to aid in the plan: Check. Succeeded with co-insurrectionists, if only temporarily, in stopping Congress from carrying out a vital constitutional duty: Check. Accusations against Jan. 6 rioter Thomas Caldwell certainly seem to fit the charge of sedition as it’s generally understood — inciting revolt against the government. And the possibility of charging him and others was widely discussed after thousands of pro-Trump supporters assaulted scores of police officers, defaced the U.S. Capitol and hunted for lawmakers to stop the certification. Some called their...

My friend and noted aerospace industry expert Richard Aboulafia recently commented on the inability of the Chinese to sell their fighter jets overseas:“This feeble sales record has nothing to do with the aircraft themselves. China has made great strides in improving its state-owned aerospace technology base, particularly in the military realm. China makes quality products, or at least products that are on par with the planes that the old Soviet Union succeeded in exporting in great quantities to various countries.”Moreover, Chinese weapons are relatively cheap, reliable, and sold with few questions asked. The reason, rather, according to Aboulafia, is that China’s...

Growing military tensions around Taiwan as well as economic and technological rivalry between China and the United States threaten peace and stability in East Asia as the regional power balance shifts in Beijing's favour, Japan said in its annual defence white paper. "It is necessary that we pay close attention to the situation with a sense of crisis more than ever," the paper said in a new section on Taiwan. "In particular, competition in technological fields is likely to become even more intense," it said about the U.S.-China tussle. The defence review, which was approved by Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga's...

A Connecticut teen has been charged with computer crimes after police say he hacked into his school's database and referenced a quote from Adolf Hitler in a high school yearbook. Hollister Tryon, 18, was a student at Glastonbury High School, where the quote appeared in May beneath the photo of an unsuspecting classmate, police said. It read, 'It is a quite special secret pleasure how the people around us fail to realize what is really happening to them.' The quote was attributed in the yearbook to George Floyd, the Black man killed by Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin last May....

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said on July 12 that police officers from around the United States are welcome to relocate to Florida for a better workplace “culture” if they feel disenchanted. “I do think you will see; I think you’ve already seen. But there are people in these police departments in various other parts of the country who, if they can get a job in Florida, they want to come to Florida to be able to do it,” he said, according to local media. “Because the culture is better, and they understand they’re going to be supported much more resolutely...

As the Delta variant rapidly spreads, US hotspots have seen climbing cases — and an expert warns a “surprising amount” of Covid-19 deaths could soon follow. And a third of those, CNN Medical Analyst Dr. Jonathan Reiner said, come from five hotspots: Florida, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri and Nevada. -snip- “We will start to see an increase in mortality in this country,” Reiner said. What is particularly frustrating for many experts, Reiner said, is...

Trump’s lawsuits against Big Tech — although most Americans aren’t likely to hear this any time soon — could prevail according to analysts and experts. The familiar protest that private companies are not bound by the First Amendment is directly addressed in Trump’s lawsuits against the major tech companies; and the central argument that these particular private companies should be treated as agents of the state has precedent to support it.“Their censorship constitutes state action because the government granted them immunity from legal liability, threatened to punish them if they allow disfavored speech, and colluded with them in choosing targets for...

[Catholic Caucus] 100 Years Ago, G.K. Chesterton Predicted Our Dark TimesOver one century ago, G.K. Chesterton wrote a masterpiece poem titled The Ballad of the White Horse. Today, more than ever, it strikes chords in the hearts of all who love the Catholic Church and her traditions. In soul-stirring rhymes, Chesterton tells the story of ragged King Alfred, who mournfully wanders through his once Catholic kingdom, now overrun with pagan Danes. The ballad weaves a tapestry of medieval legends, but its essence rings as true as historical fact. It is the story of the fight for truth, goodness, and beauty...

A Black farmer checks the condition of his soy bean field. Getty© Getty A Black farmer checks the condition of his soy bean field. Getty In a historical step to redress racism, the USDA was poised to issue $4 billion in debt relief to farmers of color. White farmers and banks pushed back, in an attempt to uphold the racist structures they've benefitted from for centuries. Black farmers won't overcome racism until they take the levers of finance into their own hands and forge their own financial institutions. This month, in a historic step to redress racism, the United States...
