A compound in avocados may ultimately offer a route to better leukemia treatment, says a new University of Guelph study. The compound targets an enzyme that scientists have identified for the first time as being critical to cancer cell growth, said Dr. Paul Spagnuolo, Department of Food Science. Published recently in the journal Blood, the study focused on acute myeloid leukemia (AML), which is the most devastating form of leukemia. Most cases occur in people over age 65, and fewer than 10 per cent of patients survive five years after diagnosis. Leukemia cells have higher amounts of an enzyme called...

Along with its ongoing ethical problems, a deceptive marketing campaign, and a continued hatred for non-liberal voices, it’s been a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad year for the Jeffrey Zucker-led CNN. And as per the latest Nielsen ratings, CNN has continued to hemorrhage viewers with primetime and entire day total viewership down over 70 percent since January. Nielsen Media Research has the breakdown and it’s not pretty, no matter how the Zucker Borg would spin it. Since a January high of roughly 798,000 primetime viewers and 530,000 total day viewers in the 25-54 demographic, CNN has fallen off a...

Today’s audio comes from Newt’s most recent Inner Circle Live Event in which he answers a question about the recent developments with UFOs. Here’s what Newt had to say: I had a long talk today with Bob Walker, who I served with in Congress and who was a one-time chairman of the Science and Technology Committee. I found the 60 Minutes piece on UFOs very compelling, so I wanted to know his take. The two most likely explanations are either that the Chinese or the Russians have developed a technology that is generations ahead of us. I don’t think it’s...

Abstract Long-lived bone marrow plasma cells (BMPCs) are a persistent and essential source of protective antibodies1–7. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) convalescent individuals have a significantly lower risk of reinfection8–10. Nonetheless, it has been reported that anti-SARS-CoV-2 serum antibodies experience rapid decay in the first few months after infection, raising concerns that long-lived BMPCs may not be generated and humoral immunity against this virus may be short-lived11–13. Here we demonstrate that in patients who experienced mild infections (n=77), serum anti-SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) antibodies decline rapidly in the first 4 months after infection and then more gradually over the...

An attorney representing Georgia citizens who secured the right to review over 145,000 absentee ballots cast in Fulton County in November told the judge overseeing the case that a top county election official could not say how many absentee ballots were printed. Plaintiff’s attorney Bob Cheeley told Judge Brian Amero on Friday that Fulton County Registration Chief Ralph Jones, during a pretrial deposition, estimated the county printed 20,000 absentee ballots through a vendor in the 10 days leading up to the election. Jones could not give the attorney a precise number. “So I asked for the invoice, during the deposition,...

A few days ago, after an unusually strong tide, a huge stone road surfaced from beneath the waters of the Pacific Ocean. The stone road appears to have been made of giant cobblestones. Is it man made? If yes, who would have been capable of moving such huge blocks of rock… And for what purpose? such Or just Mother Nature? These questions must be answered by specialists in geology. The strange event lasted enough time for surprised residents of Sakhalin Island, in the far east of Russia, to immortalize the unexpected structure. As you might known, Sakhalin Island is the...

The East Lansing bar Gov. Gretchen Whitmer was photographed visiting on Saturday will not face repercussions for its violations, according to a local health official. Linda Vail, the health officer for Ingham County, confirmed to the Washington Examiner that the Ingham County Health Department received a complaint that the Landshark Bar & Grill violated coronavirus health protocols when "a party exceeding six guests was allowed to gather" but said the matter has since been resolved. Vail said all "noncritical restaurant complaints" are initially treated as "education/consultation for the owner/manager" and that the bar in question had no history of similar...

Lake Kivu contains about 300 billion m3 of carbon dioxide and 60 billion m3 of methane gas, giving it the capacity to produce between 120 million and 250 million m3 of methane gas annually. Now, you probably understand why panic and fear has gripped communities in Rwanda and Congo after the sudden and deadly eruption of Nyiragongo volcano on Saturday, which is situated just 20-25 miles away… The likelihood of flow of extremely hot magma into the waters of Lake Kivu and the resulting seismic unrest are feared to potentially cause a deadly explosion. Rwanda’s Lake Kivu is indeed one...

Rain in some parts of central and southern China has hit record highs in recent weeks even though overall precipitation is about 10% lower this year compared with last year. Water levels on the Yangtze and its tributaries were expected to rise further over the next week, and it warned of major floods throughout the country from June to August. Some monitoring stations are issuing alerts, with the Wuhan city section of the Yangtze river in central China more than two meters higher than the normal at this time of the year as a result of heavy rain upstream. Last...

A report in the New York Post Wednesday appears to confirm reporting by Breitbart News last October that then-Vice President Joe Biden met his son Hunter’s business associates from Kazakhstan at Café Milano in Washington, DC, despite earlier denials. In August 2019, on the campaign trail in South Carolina, Biden told reporters: “I have never discussed, with my son or my brother or with anyone else, anything having to do with their businesses. Period.” The new Post report casts further doubt on that claim. In October 2020, Breitbart News revealed a photograph showing Vice President Biden and Hunter Biden with...

A Dutch court ruled on Wednesday that Royal Dutch Shell, one of the world's largest oil companies, must significantly reduce carbon emissions over the next nine years in order to comply with global targets laid out in the Paris Agreement on climate change. The decision by a district court in the Hague is the first ruling that compels a company to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which scientists say are pushing global temperatures higher and causing a wide range of catastrophic consequences. The court ruled that Royal Dutch Shell must cut its carbon emissions 45 percent by 2030 from 2019 levels,...
