I could not believe it. I was excited to go out to see all the faces of my fellow citizens at Home Depot. I kind you not, probably only one in 20 people there were maskless (myself and 2 "brave" senior citizens). (I'm not counting the woman outside who pulled her mask down to smoke a cigarette.) I'm talking about being outside in the garden center also no less. Sad thing is I bet all these terrified people already got their 2 injections. Things any better in your areas?

Israel gave an hour warning and then destroyed the offices of Al Jazeera and Associated Press. GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — An Israeli airstrike on Saturday targeted and destroyed a high-rise building in Gaza City that housed offices of The Associated Press and other media outlets. Hours later, Israel bombed the home of Khalil al-Hayeh, a top leader of Gaza’s ruling militant Hamas group. The Israeli military said Al-Hayeh’s home served as part of what it said was the militant group’s “terrorist infrastructure.” Al-Hayeh is a senior figure in the Hamas political leadership in Gaza, and the attack marked...

New York’s historic Washington Square Park resembled a dirty garbage dump Saturday, after hundreds of maskless revellers descended on the area to celebrate the city's return to near-normality. Garbage and litter was strewn across the pavements and lawns in the park Saturday morning with the Big Apple's pigeon population seen taking advantage of the remnants of food left behind from the night before. Empty bottles of booze were scattered along the benches, while cans of beer (and who knows what else) floated in the water of its iconic fountain. Saturday's scenes show the aftermath of a huge party Friday night...

Sixth Week of Easter John 16:23b–28 Friends, today’s Gospel urges us to expect the Father to answer our prayers because he loves us. “On that day you will ask in my name, and I do not tell you that I will ask the Father for you. For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have come to believe that I came from God.” Keep in mind that prayer is not designed so much to change God’s mind or to tell God something he doesn’t know. God isn’t like a big city boss or a reluctant pasha...

In June of 2017, some madman opened fire on the Republican congressional baseball team as they practiced in Alexandria, Virginia. James Hodgkinson was the suspect. He was killed after being shot by Capitol Police who were protecting Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), who was the House Majority Whip at the time. Officers David Bailey and Crystal Griner were injured in the assault, along with four others.[snip]Well, alas, the FBI has changed their tune, albeit very quietly. With Israel and Hamas on the brink of all-out war in Gaza, inflation soaring, and Colonial Pipeline, which supplies 45 percent of all fuel to...

...[Almost at the moment when Joan of Arc was being canonized with all the clerical ceremonies at Rome [this occurred on May 16, 1920 -ed.], four political prisoners — one a woman — were tied to stakes and shot according to military and civic ceremony near Paris. The tragic and instructive narrative is here told in a translation from the most popular Paris Newspaper — Le Petit Journal, May 16, 1920.] FOUR of the condemned informers of Laon, of which affair one has not forgotten the dolorous echo, Georges Toque, Moise Lemoine, Leander Herbert and the woman Alice Aubert were...

The CDC has finally bowed to reality, acknowledging that there is no reason for vaccinated people to wear masks indoors, let alone outdoors. Call me cynical, but my guess is the polling has gone South on mask mandates. People have had enough. Next thing you know, Joe Biden will take off his mask to celebrate his administration’s great victory over the coronavirus. Must have been those vaccines Biden was so instrumental in developing. As Scott reported this morning, Minnesota’s proto-fascist governor, Tim Walz, has revoked his state’s mask mandate. His declared state of emergency remains in place, although no one...

CAIRO — Violence between Israelis and Palestinians expanded in new directions on Friday, with deadly clashes convulsing the occupied West Bank and anti-Israeli protests erupting along Israel’s borders with two Arab neighbors. The widening sense of mayhem in Israel and the Palestinian territories came as Israeli airstrikes brought mass evacuations and funerals to Gaza, and as Hamas rockets singed Israeli towns for a fifth consecutive day. Hamas and Israeli officials signaled they were open to discussing a cease-fire amid global calls for peace and frantic diplomacy aimed at heading off a further fracturing in one of the Middle East’s most...

That means one in 5 Democrats polled deemed her unfavorable, as did nearly 3 in 5 independents, as the Washington Examiner observed. Naturally, a reporter came running to her defense, blaming racism and misogyny by Republicans. It’s the Independents who are doing...

Some journalists are happy to knock on the doors of strangers. I was never one of them, but Christopher Steele, the ex-British spy behind the infamous Trump dossier, left me no choice. During the 2016 presidential campaign, Mr. Steele had been hired by an investigative firm called Fusion GPS to gather dirt about Donald J. Trump and Russia. The firm’s founders, two former Wall Street Journal reporters, made it clear they would not talk to me for a book I was writing about the business of private intelligence. So on an early summer morning in 2019, I arrived at Mr....
