If you live in New Orleans and were looking forward to “Blue at the Zoo,” I have bad news. The Audubon Zoo’s planned event — meant to encourage positive relations between the police department and the citizenry — has been called off. The six-day promotion was set to grant 20% off zoo and aquarium concessions and gifts for patrons wearing law enforcement’s iconic color. But Audubon changed its mind due to criticism. WDSU relayed an official statement explaining the decision while hailing safe spaces....

Nearly one billion COVID-19 vaccine doses have been delivered in less than six months, but anti-vaccine disinformation and targeted attacks on scientists are undermining progress. These threats must be confronted directly, and the authority and expertise of the health community alone aren’t enough to do this. Efforts must expand into the realm of cyber security, law enforcement, public education and international relations. A high-level inter-agency task force reporting to the UN secretary-general could assess the full impact of anti-vaccine aggression, and propose tough, balanced measures. The task force should include experts who have tackled complex global threats such as terrorism,...

The president exited a tent wearing his mask and saluted as he took the stage. He removed his mask before he began to speak.

Vernon Jones is closing the gap with Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp in the nascent Republican gubernatorial primary ahead of next year's elections, according to polling obtained by The Hill. An internal poll commissioned by Jones’s campaign and conducted by the GOP firm Remington Research Group shows Kemp with a narrow 39 percent to 35 percent lead over Jones among likely Republican primary voters, putting him just slightly outside the survey’s 3 percentage point margin of error. There are signs that Jones has room to grow his support further. Twenty-six percent of respondents said they are still undecided in the race,...

A warrant, detailing how a dozen FBI officers ended up raiding a spa in Alaska under false pretenses, has been released. The story first came to major national attention after an interview with Paul and Marilyn Hueper, whose home and business was raided last week in an apparent case of mistaken identity. The 38 page document, below, reveals how poor a job the FBI did in identifying a woman they say was in Speaker Pelosi’s office on the afternoon of January 6th, 2021. In summary, the warrant appears to rely on Marilyn Hueper wearing a black coat and having brunette...

House Republicans are pushing to remove Rep. Liz Cheney from her leadership role because she insists on focusing on the past with her objections to former President Donald Trump rather than looking to the future and how to regain the GOP's control in Congress, House Minority Whip Steve Scalise said Thursday. "The vast majority of members are talking about the next election," the Louisiana Republican told Fox Business's Maria Bartiromo. "We have to be united if we are going to defeat the socialist agenda you're seeing in Washington. I started hearing from a lot of members about that. (We're) ready...

Mark Morgan has played a key role in U.S. immigration enforcement for 30 years. He served in the FBI, was chief of the U.S. Border Patrol for former President Barack Obama, and ran U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, then Customs and Border Protection for former President Donald Trump. Watching what’s happening on the border and in key cities under President Joe Biden, the 30-year law enforcement veteran said he’s never seen it worse. Now, with the Heritage Foundation, along with several other key Trump administration immigration officials, Morgan fears that Biden is handcuffing his former agencies and essentially granting amnesty...

Accelerometers are sensors for measuring acceleration forces. They can be found embedded in many types of mobile devices, including tablet PCs, smartphones, and smartwatches. Some common uses of built-in accelerometers are automatic image stabilization, device orientation detection, and shake detection. In contrast to sensors like microphones and cameras, accelerometers are widely regarded as not privacy-intrusive. This sentiment is reflected in protection policies of current mobile operating systems, where third-party apps can access accelerometer data without requiring security permission. It has been shown in experiments, however, that seemingly innocuous sensors can be used as a side channel to infer highly sensitive...

Joy Behar told her co-hosts on Thursday’s broadcast of ABC’s “The View” that she believed Black Lives Matter was “not a political statement” because it was “just a statement of fact.” Co-host Whoopi Goldberg said, “The International Olympic Committee just confirmed the rules for the Summer Games in Tokyo. One of which forbids athletes from wearing Black Lives Matter clothing. They say it affects their ban on racial propaganda. Sunny, does this sound like a new rule or a rule in place for a long time?”

Two Major League Baseball teams, the New York Yankees and New York Mets, are getting prepared to, kind of, bring their games back to normal. But the price of bringing the games back to somewhat normal is precisely what many people were frightened of to begin with, CBS New York reported. Their stadiums, Yankee Stadium and Citi Field respectively, will have separate seating for vaccinated and non-vaccinated people. In the vaccinated section, fans will not have to socially distance but will still, ridiculously, have to wear masks even after the Centers For Disease Control said masks were not needed outside.

For Wyoming Republicans, booting Representative Liz Cheney from her leadership post isn't enough as internal efforts emerged to get her out of Congress altogether. Several right-leaning polls show a majority of Wyomingites have turned on Cheney, their at-large congresswoman in the U.S. House since 2017, as their support for former President Donald Trump has only grown since he left office. There are already four Republicans registered to run against Cheney for her House seat in 2022 – State Senator Anthony Bouchard, State Representative Chuck Gray, former Pavillion, Wyoming Mayor Marissa Selvig and Bryan Keller. Trump, along with his allies and...
