If you live in New Orleans and were looking forward to “Blue at the Zoo,” I have bad news.
The Audubon Zoo’s planned event — meant to encourage positive relations between the police department and the citizenry — has been called off.
The six-day promotion was set to grant 20% off zoo and aquarium concessions and gifts for patrons wearing law enforcement’s iconic color.
But Audubon changed its mind due to criticism.
WDSU relayed an official statement explaining the decision while hailing safe spaces....

And how is cancelling a pro-police event NOT divisive?
So a cop shouldn’t answer a call because it might become divisive?
So, the “devisive” police find all kinds of excuses why they will not be able to answer calls to that ship of fools, the Audubon Zoo. The zoo where the real animals are those running the zoo.
I went on down to the Audubon Zoo
And they all asked for you
They all asked for you
(For who?)
Well, they even inquired about you
I went on down to the Audubon Zoo
And they all asked for you
The monkeys asked
The tigers asked
And the elephant asked me too
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom
Boo, dee bee doo, poo boom
Boom, boom
Boo, dee bee doo, poo boom
- The Meters, “They All Ask’d for You”
Now you’re gettin’ it.
Recall the woman who said that police shouldn’t intervene in knife fights.
They shouldn’t divide the animals, that’s discrimination. Put them all together.
I would love to see a LEO say they weren’t going to answer a call to a known anti-LEO house because of what they said.
>>I don’t get it. In New Orleans the zoo fence surrounds the visitors to protect them, while the animals stroll outside the fence.
Yeah but in New Orleans each animal is listed with it’s species, genus, and recipe!
well then the police need to say we can no longer respond to calls at the Zoo PERIOD !!!
Would you make the same statement about an event for people of color?
I do believe it. I do believe it’s true.
Not a good idea—Not in The Big Easy. Bad Optics in any case.
The problem is that the police have more to lose by activist behavior than the BLM people. The police don’t want to jeopardize their careers.
But Audubon changed its mind due to criticism.
Criticism is OK. But I think we’re talking about threats made by certain organizations directed against the Audibon board. But Uncle Joe says those organizations are, “just an idea’ so Audibon may be overreacting. /Sarc
Got my thin blue line/American flag t-shirt in the mail yesterday.
A-holes.
Cowards.
Is that zoo receiving taxpayer dollars?
