Scalise: Cheney Focusing Too Much on Past to Keep Leadership
Newsmax ^ | 5/6/2021 | Sandy Fitzgerald

House Republicans are pushing to remove Rep. Liz Cheney from her leadership role because she insists on focusing on the past with her objections to former President Donald Trump rather than looking to the future and how to regain the GOP's control in Congress, House Minority Whip Steve Scalise said Thursday.

"The vast majority of members are talking about the next election," the Louisiana Republican told Fox Business's Maria Bartiromo. "We have to be united if we are going to defeat the socialist agenda you're seeing in Washington. I started hearing from a lot of members about that. (We're) ready to move forward."

-snip-

Scalise told Bartiromo that it's Cheney's insistence about "talking about things that happened in the past" that's leading to the party's turn against her.

"About 2 weeks ago, we had a big conference retreat," he said. "We had over 150 members of the House Republican conference who got together in Florida to start talking about unifying around an agenda for next year to take the majority back and not just to be the opposition party," Scalise said.

-snip-

However, there is a "large number" of members who are saying they gave Cheney a second chance before but now they "feel like they got burned," said Scalise.

"The members, all of us, are focused on getting the majority back and saving our country," but Cheney is not focused on the future or doing what it will take to fight back against Pelosi and Biden," he maintained.

It looks like the GOP have their talking points together for dumping Cheney next week.

Cheney wants to get along with Biden, not oppose him

That’s a disqualification right there

Republicans need fighters, not get-along wimps ... got too many of those already (Romney, McConnell, Murk, Collins, ... etc. etc.)

Scalise is a politician and he can sugarcoat what needs to be done with Cheney any way he likes. However the image of this vile woman as a leader in the Republican Party simply is not acceptable to the vast majority of the Republican rank and file. They realize that they are in a death match with the Democrat, socialist, globalists who wish to dismantle the American nation and strip Americans of their liberties. Cheney joined the Democrats in their phony Russia hoax persecution against President Trump and actually voted with them in their vile impeachment proceedings.

Stripping her of her leadership post is not enough, she needs to be excommunicated from the party.

Actually, the FReepers who pimped Cheney's candidacy in the first place (not to mention the conservative talking heads who were talking her up like Limbaugh, Levin, etc.) were correct about her being a "fighter", especially compared to the low-key Mike Enzi. She is an outspoken loudmouth who loves being an attention whore getting her face on TV, and she loves being a fly in the ointment during congressional hearings.

They never specified getting a "fighter" who fights for OUR side, so they indeed got a "fighter", just one who stabs us in the back at every opportunity.

Where they got it wrong was touting Princess Liz as an "anti-establishment Tea Party candidate". She's about as anti-establishment as Joseph Stalin was anti-communism.

She just wouldn't STFU.

She doesn’t want to fight back, her mindset is that of the old guard. She’d rather go along to get along with these Democrats than actually represent what the base wants.

Right and wrong. Only looking ahead means that Democrats who committed vile, felony crimes never get prosecuted. However, only a select handful of trusted and determined Republicans are needed to insure these criminals are put behind bars.

The rest do need to focus on the future.

But the backlog of criminality is now so great that the unpunished Democrats from the Clinton and Obama years are now propelling future crimes in the Biden administration.

Seems like a gyp. “Ok she’s gone but here’s her underwhelming NY replacement”. I think it’s partly a gender thing, they don’t want to replace a woman with a man.

But she’s been such a *itch she needs to go, period, even if her replacement is Maxine Waters, at least Maxine doesn’t pretend to be a conservative.

Is this the same Steve Scalise who skipped Trump’s farewell speech to attend Biden’s inauguration with his special guest Donna Bazille?

That said...

Lez Cheney, like Marvin J Mooney, must go now.

Hopefully, we gain a net +1 patriot in the replacement...and not another leftwing RINO.
