When Deb Haaland was sworn in as Secretary of the Interior recently, the Native American former congresswoman became the nation’s top official in charge of most federal land. Her responsibilities include the National Park Service (NPS), which is trying to address a lack of diversity. At least 79% of full-time permanent employees are white. African Americans make up just under 7% of the permanent full-time workforce, despite making up 13.4% of the U.S. population. Latinos are also underrepresented, making up 18.5% of the population but only 5.6% of the park system’s permanent full-time employees. Only Native Americans exceed their representation...

We've been pointing out how dishonest and inaccurate the Left's narrative – amplified throughout much of the media – has been regarding Georgia's new elections law. Activists purchased the internet domain name "Jim Crow 2.0" weeks before a final bill was passed, demonstrating their talking points were pre-set, regardless of substance. Like clockwork, Stacey Abrams, Vice President Harris, President Biden and others have all invoked that dreadful legacy to denounce the GOP-passed law, with Biden going so far as to frame Georgia's legislation as worse than Jim Crow – an insulting and historically illiterate assertion. The Washington Post's fact-checker reviewed...

Amid our celebrations of Easter and Passover this year, Hoosiers should pause to appreciate the exceptional nature of our rich heritage of religious liberty. Beyond the confines of a church, synagogue or mosque, Hoosiers enjoy the liberty to exercise their faith in every aspect of their lives — at work, at school, and in their communities — provided they do not threaten the rights of their neighbors. That’s what the First Amendment guarantees. But make no mistake: This liberty is under intense attack, and unless we act decisively to defend it, we could lose one of our most precious birthrights...

Upon hearing that San Diego teachers were providing instruction to migrant children but not American citizens, many clever parents began disguising their kids as illegal immigrants in hopes that their kids could finally see the inside of a classroom. "OK, Aiden, remember -- if they ask you what your name is, just say, 'No hablo ingles,'" said one parent as she dropped her kid off near the Mexican border in Chula Vista. "And don't pick at your fake mustache; it'll fall off. Don't forget your poncho!" "I packed you a burrito and some quesadillas for lunch! Love you!" After waving...

Visitors to a zoo in southwestern China were left shocked and confused when they saw a golden retriever in a cage intended to accommodate an African lion. In a video clip that circulated widely on social media this week, a man only identified by his surname Tang, took his child to visit Yuanjiashan Zoo in Xichang, Sichuan, on Saturday but was startled when they found a golden retriever in the African lion enclosure, despite signage introducing the animal as a feline. “At first, we thought we had gone to the wrong place. The Bagratid Kingdom, also known as Bagratid Armenia, was founded by Ashot I Bagratuni of the Bagratuni dynasty around AD 880 following centuries of Abbasid rule. The kingdom emerged as a buffer state between the Byzantine Empire and the Abbasid Caliphate, absorbing several Armenian principalities and the kingdoms of Taron, Vaspurakan, Kars, Khachen and Syunik. The earliest description of Ani comes from the 5th-6th century Armenian chronicler Ghazar Parpetsi, who gives mention of a hilltop fortress constructed by the Kamsarakan House (one of the Seven Great Houses of Iran closely associated to the Arsacids)...By the start of the 11th century, Ani had...

Hunter Biden’s forthcoming memoir shares in graphic detail his downfall into crack-cocaine addiction — and even allowed a homeless drug dealer to move in with him. The president’s son tells how his first drink was a glass of champagne aged just 8 — leading to a lifetime of abusing drink and then hard drugs. “I’ve bought crack cocaine on the streets of Washington, DC, and cooked up my own inside a hotel bungalow in Los Angeles,” Hunter writes in the prologue to “Beautiful Things,” according to excerpts in the New York Times. “I’ve been so desperate for a drink that...

Russian forces massing on the border with Ukraine have prompted the U.S. European Command to raise its watch level to its highest point of “potential imminent crisis”, according to a New York Times report Tuesday night. On Wednesday, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley spoke to senior Russian Gen. Valery Gerasimov about the buildup, according to Russia. Four Ukrainian soldiers were killed last week in an extended battle in the contested Donetsk Region against Russia-backed separatists. Russian forces that were thought to have gathered for training exercises near the border have stayed and grown in numbers,...

They are Democrat propagandists and should be treated as such. The great comedian Chris Farley had a recurring “Saturday Night Live” sketch in which he nervously and incompetently interviewed celebrities. “Remember when you were with the Beatles? … That was awesome!” he “asked” Paul McCartney in 1993, after fidgeting for a suitably awkward amount of time. “Yeah … it was,” replied McCartney, who played it straight. That happened for real last Thursday, but without any self-awareness or comedy, when the entire White House Press Corps either effusively praised or more-than-gently handled President Joe Biden for the duration of his first press conference....

Doctors warn of more serious COVID cases among younger adults placing them in hospitals I have seen a very clear increase in COVID patients at the ER in Detroit, and many of them need to be hospitalized. .. Now the most concerning trend is in the number of middle-aged people with severe COVID-19. “We have about a quarter of the patients who are hospitalized at our main hospital actually in the intensive care unit (ICU) right now,” said Dr. Geneva Tatem. Tatem is a critical care specialist in the ICU at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. “We’ve seen a shift...

U.S.—With Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg proposing a national tax based on how many miles you drive in your car, budget-minded drivers will be able to activate new features in their cars that will warn them when they're about to exceed their budgeted miles for the month. "This is a great way to keep the poors from driving too much," said Buttigieg. "Er- I mean... to ensure social justice and equity on the roads! Yeah!" Experts predict the proposed tax will encourage the country bumpkins in rural areas to move to the city and become good, public transportation-using liberals. "We...

Here in McDonald County Missouri it may not look like much right now, but this is going to be Interstate 49 in a few months. We were standing on what’s called the Missouri-Arkansas Connector, this is the portion of the Bella-Vista bypass that MPDOT is responsible for, and so far things are going just as scheduled. Right now the only traffic on the future I-49 is construction traffic. The Bella Vista bypass is a joint venture between ARDOT and MODOT. Each state is responsible for its own road. In Missouri they are on the hook for just over 5 miles...
