Editors NoteDavid Limbaugh wrote the following column in February 2020, just after his brother's diagnosis. He will have more to say next week about his brother's passing.I am uniquely blessed to be Rush Limbaugh's brother in ways too numerous to count, and I am blessed to be in the special position of witnessing firsthand the outpouring of love and prayers from his family, friends and fans. His wife, Kathryn, has been amazing and a rock throughout. I could fill a book with the well-wishes I've received. I sent Rush a link to my "mentions" column on Twitter so he could...

A radical new approach to abortion has taken place in the UK in the last year. For the first time in history, an estimated 100,000 women have been able to have abortions at home. The government must now decide if this "special measure" - designed to help women "stay home and protect the NHS" by keeping them out of clinics during the pandemic - should remain as a permanent abortion option for women. There hasn't been much public debate about the changes - so I want to know what the implications are on safety and efficacy. And, since abortion remains...

I will fear for my country and the fate of my children and grandchildren. We are living in what seem to me to be terribly fraught times, times that are even more worrisome than those at the height of Cold War tensions, when we schoolchildren were drilled on what to do in case of a nuclear attack--an attack that was in fact highly unlikely to occur. Why do I say this? What are these overweening concerns? Many relate to government policies. The Biden administration seems hell bent on reversing every Trump administration policy, even those policies that were quite successful....

French President Emmanuel Macron has called on Europe and the US to urgently send up to 5% of their coronavirus vaccine supplies to developing nations. Mr Macron told the Financial Times the failure to share vaccines fairly would entrench global inequality. The vast majority of vaccinations have been administered by high-income countries so far. Mr Macron proposed his plan to address the imbalance ahead of a G7 virtual summit of world leaders on Friday. The White House has said US President Joe Biden will announce a pledge of $4bn (£2.8bn) in funding for a global vaccine-sharing scheme, known as Covax....

President Biden spoke to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Thursday about the ongoing winter storm crisis that left millions without power for days. Abbott in an earlier news conference said he would ask Biden to declare a major disaster declaration to help residents whose homes have been damaged by the deadly Arctic storm that has left dozens dead in the state, according to KSAT-TV in San Antonio. The governor called on state lawmakers to mandate the winterization of power generators and for the modernization of the grid, KSAT reported. "All of us agree on the necessity of action," Abbott told...

A missing San Francisco computer programmer was found dead in a crawl space of his home last week, police said. Cops responded to Christopher Woitel’s apartment in the Mission District on Friday and found his remains in a three-foot-tall crawl space above his bathroom that was “hidden from plain view,” according to the San Francisco Police Department. Fire officials also arrived at the scene and had to cut a hole in the ceiling so they could retrieve Woitel’s body. Police say the 50-year-old likely got into the crawl space from the roof of the building.

"After a few weeks he sent me a piece he had written for the Sacramento Bee when he was on the air there. It was entitled "24 Undeniable Truths" all in the typical Rush bluster. It was excellent, thoughtful and fascinating, having all the charm and curiosity of his broadcasts. I responded, "Do you have any idea how easy it would be to turn this into a best-selling book?" His response was his phone number, time to call and this began a series of phone calls about the publishing business and the process of producing a book."

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) admitted Thursday that he had planned on spending longer than he did in Cancún, in a spur-of-the-moment trip his wife tried to recruit friends and neighbors to join that was motivated by Texas’ frigid temperatures, according to texts obtained by the New York Times, following widespread outrage over a vacation Cruz initially claimed was driven by his daughters and their friends. The senator’s wife, Heidi Cruz, tried to recruit friends for the trip on Wednesday and noted their house was “FREEZING,” the Times reported Thursday, citing texts obtained from a group chat. She proposed staying at...

Members of the Maine Republican Party state committee are condemning "in the strongest possible terms" Republican Sen. Susan Collins' vote to convict former President Donald Trump in his impeachment trial this month -- another sign of the backlash against lawmakers who bucked Trump, but one that may not have immediate impact given that Collins just won a fifth term."We vehemently disagree with your vote on this matter and condemn it in the strongest possible terms," members of the committee -- including the state party's chair and vice chair -- wrote in a letter to Collins posted to Facebook on Wednesday,...

The billionaire philanthropist offers four bold ideas to help business take on the climate crisis ---- [cut] It took me years to come to this point of view. I became interested in climate change not as an environmentalist, but as an advocate for global health and development. Since the early 2000s, my wife Melinda and I have been funding efforts to improve health and fight poverty in lower- and middle-income countries. A few times a year, I would travel abroad for the chance to see the work in action. Often, I’d fly into a country at night and be struck...

With millions of Texas residents suffering from the effects of a deadly winter storm, President Biden "took the day" off, Sean Hannity charged Thursday. "Where is our commander-in-chief?" asked the "Hannity" host. "You know, that new guy? Oh, that's right! This morning, he decided to take a snow day. The guy ultimately in charge of FEMA and all of the country's emergency resources and federal agences? Yeah, he took a day off in the middle of this natural disaster. Where's the feigned phony, selective liberal outrage on this? "To be fair," Hannity added later, "it's not even really totally clear...

Many, probably most, Texans hadn’t heard of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas until this week. Then a historic winter storm froze up the place and “electric reliability” turned into an unfunny joke for far too many. Their electricity was reliably unavailable. Texans are getting to know the 50-year-old council and are not liking what they’re learning. For one thing, about a third of its members don’t even live in Texas. Well, now that the glare has turned on ERCOT, it has removed the board members’ names from its website. They’re gone. They were all there earlier in the week....

The House of Delegates, after a long debate, passed a bill allowing families to use public money for private education costs. House Bill 2013 passed 60-39, which means a relatively large block of the House’s 77-member Republican majority voted against it. It now goes to the state Senate, where similar measures have received solid support from the Republican majority in recent years. The “Hope Scholarship” would be established through funds from the state Department of Education to pay for expenses like tuition, tutoring, fees for standardized tests or educational therapies. Joshua Higginbotham As originally conceived, the education savings accounts could...
