French President Emmanuel Macron has called on Europe and the US to urgently send up to 5% of their coronavirus vaccine supplies to developing nations.
Mr Macron told the Financial Times the failure to share vaccines fairly would entrench global inequality.
The vast majority of vaccinations have been administered by high-income countries so far.
Mr Macron proposed his plan to address the imbalance ahead of a G7 virtual summit of world leaders on Friday.
The White House has said US President Joe Biden will announce a pledge of $4bn (£2.8bn) in funding for a global vaccine-sharing scheme, known as Covax.
"We're not talking about billions of doses immediately, or billions and billions of euros," Mr Macron told the FT.
"It's about much more rapidly allocating 4-5% of the doses we have.
"It won't change our vaccination campaigns, but each country should set aside a small number of the doses it has to transfer tens of millions of them, but very fast, so that people on the ground see it happening."

Maybe he could spare the clown (whom the Karens in Toronto probably still want to serve as our PM) who runs our government a few, lol.
This 4 bil was signed by Trump in December. The trick is...no one gets anything until USA is vaccinated totally.
I’d be cool with this after 330 million Americans were vaccinated. But do not send a dose until we’re 100 percent.
This is interesting in a sort of “dog did not bark” sort of way. If Covid19 is so deadly and if poorer nations do not have the same level of medical care as the west...where are all the stories and videos of bodies in the street?
Why haven’t we seen the slums of South Africa empty as everyone has died? On that note, how is it that America’s “homeless” in our big cities seem to be immune to the virus?
