Ketchup on eggs can be a subject of intense debate. Is this a combination you grew up with, or is the idea completely foreign to you? Based off of casual conversation here at The Takeout, it’s clear that for every enthusiast, there’s a hater who despise the very idea of Heinz on the breakfast table. And as a condiment, people have very strong feelings about ketchup more generally, like whether or not it belongs on hot dogs or, as we’ve discussed amongst ourselves previously, on burgers. So what do you think? Does ketchup belong on eggs?

Timing in politics is rarely accidental. Certainly not on the international stage. China's massive arrests of pro-democracy figures in Hong Kong is no accident. It's perfectly timed to be overshadowed by the protests in D.C. and, more significantly, by the Communist regime's expectation that it won't have President Trump to deal with anymore and can expect a smooth ride from Beijing Biden. The crackdown isn't coincidental. Neither is the message. The People's Republic of China is taking advantage of the chaos in this country, but it's also building up to the larger crackdown in Hong Kong and against domestic and...

The entire pretext for shutting down our liberties is built upon misinformation.. We are being told that our liberties must be suspended in order to keep hospitals from reaching apocalyptic levels. But what if those levels are just above normal and not anywhere near apocalyptic levels? And what if these lockdown measures do nothing to keep the levels down anyway? Well, if there is anywhere we can cross-check this hypothesis, it would be in Florida, where there is no lockdown or mask mandate. In fact, people are flocking there from out of state to enjoy vacations and host conferences and...

Anthony Fauci, America's top infectious disease specialist, has told Newsweek he believes President-elect Joe Biden will fulfill his promise to get 100 million COVID vaccines administered in his first 100 days in office. His forecast comes amid a slower than expected vaccine roll-out in the U.S. Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and incoming chief medical advisor to the Biden administration, said: "I think that's possible, it's very possible to do that. I think you've got to be careful about judging the long-range by what's happened in the first couple of weeks."

WITH LESS THAN ONE month until the 2020 presidential election in the United States, research shows that the integrity of the country's elections has compared poorly to other democracies in recent years – and questions remain over how the Nov. 3 contest will turn out in the era of the coronavirus pandemic. A 2019 report published by the Electoral Integrity Project, an independent project based out of Harvard University, found that U.S. elections from July 2012 through December 2018 rated "lower than any other long-established democracies and affluent societies."

President Donald Trump signed an executive order late Tuesday night instructing the State Department to restrict visas to foreigners affiliated with Antifa and is calling on the Department of Justice to classify the anarchist organization as a domestic terrorist group. "Reliable reporting suggests that the movement known as Antifa is directly or indirectly responsible for some of the recent lawlessness in our communities, and has exploited tragedies to advance a radical, leftist, anarchist, and often violent agenda. In fact, Antifa has long used otherwise permissible demonstrations to engage in lawless, criminal behavior to further its radical agenda," the order states....

The Illinois Legislature has a chance to save lives by reducing gun violence. But it must act quickly. The local firearms toll is staggering. In Chicago alone, 769 people were killed in 2020, mostly by guns. More than 4,000 were shot. Just over this past holiday weekend, 30 were shot and six were killed. Gun violence also has increased in cities around the state. Illinois does not have to meekly accept such horrific mayhem. Editorials Legislation called the Block Illegal Ownership bill would plug legal loopholes through which guns flow to the criminals who turn streets into killing zones. It...

A New Jersey man who works as vice president of facilities for Columbia University has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 13 in Bergen County, officials said. Marcelo Velez, 56, of Woodcliff Lake, was arrested Monday and faces charges of aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said in a statement Tuesday. Woodcliff Lake police were notified Sunday that Velez allegedly engaged in sexual acts with a girl less than 13 years old at a home on Saturday morning, the prosecutor’s office said. The girl...

I may be going with a group to Washington, D.C., for the 6th. I expect a crowd of over 1M people there. Busses are being leased all over the country, all headed the same direction. I just hope we leave early enough to avoid the traffic snarls we’re certain to run into. I also hope everyone who goes understands how enticing a target that many patriots in one place makes for those who are trying to steal this country away from us. We’ll have to trust the security forces there to keep us safe, but I’m also aware that the...

I’m rarely accused of being the sunny, optimistic type, but I’ll confess that I was somewhat shocked to learn that Raphael Warnock was declared the winner of his Georgia Senate runoff race as quickly as he was. Given the amount of awful background information on the Pastor from his various sermons and public statements, combined with the historic challenges of running a Black candidate in a statewide race in the Peach State, I’d assumed that Kelly Loeffler would have had the better chance of the two Republicans running in yesterday’s contest. And yet, while still close, it was Warnock who...

Somewhere, Ben Franklin is weeping. He was the guy who once described the United States of America in response to a question: “Well, Doctor, what have we got—a Republic or a Monarchy?” “A Republic, if you can keep it.” We couldn't. We now have a monarchy. Oh I know we're not calling it that, but that's what it is. We have a mentally addled marionette at the helm being steered around by his uncaring wife-handler. We have a Senate which will be led by a obnoxious jackass from New York who's never worked an honest day in his life and...

Democrats and leftists immediately called for radical legislative action to be taken to ram through the entire agenda of Democrat Joe Biden following Reverend Raphael Warnock’s projected victory over Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R) in Georgia’s runoff election.Democrats have not yet officially gained control of the Senate because the other Georgia runoff race, Democrat Jon Ossoff vs. Sen. David Perdue (R), has not yet been called, although it is trending in a positive direction for Ossoff. The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board warned last week that if Republicans lost control of the Senate it would effectively end the prospect of any meaningful...

The Constitution places the onus of election certification upon legislatures and not upon the governors or secretaries of state who certified the contested electors. Certification is a Constitutionally required affirmative action which none of the affected state legislatures performed. The Constitution does not say that if legislatures fail to overturn state executive certifications then the states' electors are certified. State legislatures must certify electors or their electors don’t exist. Election fraud in the contested states has been proven. If majorities in these state legislatures have failed to state the obvious then they must be overruled.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and two of her “Squad” allies were appointed Tuesday to the House oversight committee, giving the legislators a valuable perch to influence President-elect Joe Biden’s administration. Ocasio-Cortez, author of the Green New Deal, recently was denied her request for a seat on the House energy and commerce committee. Democrats voted 46-13 to instead appoint centrist New York Democratic Rep. Kathleen Rice. Source: NY Post

Cyber security. Fought the bad guys with @CIA and continued the mission here @StateDept. Far bigger problem than many acknowledge. Critics want to make it all about Russia. It isn't. China, Iran, DPRK present threats too.

More than 50 of Hong Kong's most prominent pro-democracy activists and politicians have been arrested in the biggest crackdown since China imposed a draconian security law last year. About 1,000 police took part in morning raids on 72 premises across the city. Those held helped run an unofficial "primary" to pick opposition candidates ahead of postponed 2020 elections. They are accused of trying to "overthrow" the government. Activists say the new law aims to quash dissent. China's government imposed the legislation on the semi-autonomous territory in June, saying it was necessary to curb months of sometimes violent pro-democracy protests. Beijing...
