Georgia Democratic Senate hopeful Jon Ossoff said Paycheck Protection Program funds were "raided by larger companies" without mentioning that his wealthy father's company received as much as $1 million through the program. "[Republicans] don't care about small businesses. And as we saw, the PPP funds were raided by larger companies," Ossoff said during a Wednesday-morning campaign event in Decatur. The Democrat said nothing about his father Richard Ossoff's involvement in the program. The elder Ossoff's Atlanta-based company, Strafford Publications, received between $350,000 and $1 million from the PPP on June 9. The company—which collects an estimated $28 million in annual...

This Article considers the possibility that a major dispute over the outcome of the 2020 presidential election could arise, even without foreign interference or some other extraordinary event, but rather just from the ordinary process of counting ballots. Building upon previous research on the “blue shift” phenomenon, whereby adjustments in vote tallies during the canvassing of returns tends to advantage Democratic candidates, it is easy to imagine a dispute arising if this kind of “blue shift” were consequential in the presidential race. Using examples from both Pennsylvania and Arizona, two states susceptible to significant “blue shifts” in previous elections, the...

uch evidence suggests that freedom of speech may be banned in the coming years under the guise of regulating “hate speech.” Many on the left who demand and welcome this development do not foresee the broad consequences of their actions. Nor do many defenders of free speech sufficiently examine the left’s reasons for banning it. Just in the past few years, U.S. senators proposed to outlaw words they deem offensive; New York City attempted to fine residents $250,000 if they say “illegal alien”; Big Tech companies continue to ban certain kinds of speech from their platforms; deeply embedded regulatory and...

A half-century ago, progressives used to push limitless free expression, blasting conservatives for their allegedly blinkered traditionalism. They boasted of obliterating once-normal boundaries in art, music, and literature to allow nudity, profanity, sexuality, and anti-American boilerplate. Now? The left is Victorian -- increasingly puritanical, regressive, and hypersensitive. Even totalitarian censorship and book-burning have weirdly become part of their by-any-means-necessary methods. University of California, Berkeley, professor Grace Lavery was so outraged by author Abigail Shrier's latest book, "Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters," that she went beyond the usual calls to ban the book. Lavery advocated burning Shrier's book....

[Note: This piece contains heavy video content.] Hey, Marie-Antoinette would’ve loved This French Laundry place. – Truly, if Marie-Antoinette were alive today she would be a Democrat politician. The hypocrisy of Democrat office holders in California is getting to be so rank and smelly now that even the state’s major newspapers are holding their collective noses and reporting on it. The San Fran Chronicle reported on Wednesday that Governor Gavin Newsom and the state’s Democrat health officials aren’t the only ones who love to dine at the fancy French Laundry restaurant on the expense accounts of powerful lobbyists while admonishing...

ATLANTA — The Never Trump Lincoln Project released an ad on Wednesday urging voters to give the Senate majority to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) by voting for Georgia Senate Democrats Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff. The Lincoln Project released the ad, titled “On the Ballot,” which asks Georgia voters to consider voting against Sens. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) and David Perdue (R-GA). The Never Trump organization claimed in its press release that voting for Warnock and Ossoff would help mitigate the coronavirus outbreak. “Votes for Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff ensure America can get Covid-19 under control and...

I’m not sure what is the most distinguishing characteristic of the Never Trump sissies. Sure, they are contemptible worms who care about nothing but extending their pathetic grifts – and it’s not like the Grima Wormtongues of conservatism have any saleable skills other than treachery. This is, of course, why these grody creatures are naturally drawn to D.C., where their loathsome skills are appreciated. But scumbags are a dime a dozen – what truly distinguishes these geebos is their bizarre confidence that someday us conservatives are going have an epiphany that we need them back and come begging them to return...

Poor and middle-income parents at hundreds of colleges have taken on substantial debt—amounts sometimes more than twice their annual income—to help their children through school, new federal figures show. The schools with the largest parent debt burdens aren’t world-famous Ivy League schools, a Wall Street Journal analysis of the data found. Rather, they include art schools, historically Black colleges and small private colleges where parents are borrowing nearly six-figure amounts to fulfill their children’s college dreams, the analysis found. For the first time, the U.S. Education Department, through its annual release of college financial data, provided information Wednesday on the...

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and Speaker Nancy Pelosi are preparing to move a crucial defense bill to a vote in their respective chambers without President Donald Trump's demand for a provision to repeal legal protections enjoyed by tech companies. It will also contain a bipartisan provision - disliked by the president - that will allow military bases named for Confederate heroes to be renamed. The move would essentially dare Trump to veto the billion dollar legislation that includes funding for the troops and a pay raise for service members.

Big business, the right wing, and now the courts have rung the bell on what is now the fourth round of the fight to expel socialists from Seattle City Hall. The corporate elite are determined to do so by hook or by crook. They failed in the first three rounds to buy this city council seat, the last time with unprecedented corporate cash from Amazon. The latest effort, a right-wing recall campaign, is perhaps the most serious threat so far, seeking now to use the courts and four trumped-up charges to overturn my reelection last year. It’s not for nothing....

Campbell County is a First Amendment Sanctuary, according to a resolution the Board of Supervisors (BOS) unanimously passed at a regular meeting on Tuesday. “No Campbell County funds will be used to restrict the First Amendment,” the resolution states. “[No] County funds shall be expended to aid federal or state agencies in the restriction of said rights,” the resolution adds. The document is a version of a no-shutdown resolution similar to one authored by the Virginia Constitutional Conservatives (VCC). However, the Campbell resolution has removed language requiring local authorities to arrest state authorities enforcing Governor Ralph Northam’s executive orders mandating...

Rick Wilson spent his career working for Republicans who are not conservative. Believing Biden won the election, Wilson is celebrating Trump supporters’ downfall. Like other traitors before him, though, Wilson may discover his future is worse than the futures of those he betrayed. NeverTrumpers are peculiar animals. For the entirety of their careers, whether they were politicians, campaign apparatchiks, think tank employees, or writers, they profitably pretended to be conservatives. They always talked a good talk when hustling for votes or money. However, once in power (or sucking up to power) they approached politics as soft leftists. I think of...

There are no dictionaries of sustainability's Newspeak. Its mavens rely less on new words than on perverting or reversing the meaning of old ones. By Peter Foster December 2, 2020 George Orwell pointed out that one of the first casualties of socialism is language. The damage is not collateral; it is deliberate—designed to numb minds and render critical thought difficult or impossible. The instrument of this dumbing down in Nineteen Eighty-Four was Newspeak, the official language of the English Socialist Party (Ingsoc). Newspeak was a sort of Totalitarian Esperanto that sought gradually to diminish the range of what was thinkable...

The Democrat campaign to steal Georgia would not be successful without the tacit cooperation of the Republicans. The saga of the 2020 Georgia General Election continues as late Sunday night, Judge Timothy Batten impounded all Dominion Voting Machines (DVM) in the state of Georgia for ten days. Many Republicans feel betrayed by Governor Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s certification of the vote. Not all Republicans are as forthright as President Trump, who openly declared when talking to reporters on Thanksgiving Day that Raffensperger “got played” by Democrat powerhouse Stacey Abrams. Is this true? Did Secretary of State...

Using myriad facts, Trump described the election fraud that undercut the American political system and asked Biden to join his demand for an investigation. President Trump appeared before the American people on Wednesday to give what he described as “the most important speech I’ve ever made.” Cleverly, he’d already ensured a large audience by teasing in the past few days that he might be giving up. Leftists tuned in to see him resign; his supporters tuned in praying that he wouldn’t. His supporters left happy for Trump, twice using charts, detailed just some of the massive election fraud and promised...

Hundreds of protesters gathered outside a Staten Island bar a day after it was shut down and one of its owners arrested for publicly declaring itself an "autonomous zone" and not adhering to New York's COVID-19 measures. The crowd stopped traffic outside Mac's Public House in Grant City Wednesday night, demanding it be allowed to open for business. Throughout the day and well into the night, sheriff's deputies stood outside the entrance of the bar, which was shut down after it insisted on continuing indoor food and drink service - leading to too many cease and desist orders and fines...

Since becoming the head of the Catholic Church in 2013, Pope Francis has not shied away from the political domain. On Sunday, the religious leader used the COVID-19 pandemic to renew his criticisms of free-market capitalism. In a video message he sent to the International Conference of judges members of the Committee for Social Rights in Africa and America, Pope Francis said that the right to private property is “a secondary natural right derived from that which everyone has”, which in turn arises from the “universal destiny of created goods” and affirmed that “the Christian tradition never recognized as absolute...

PHOENIX (AP) — County election officials agreed Wednesday to expand their inspection of certain ballots in metro Phoenix that are being challenged in a Republican lawsuit that seeks to reverse Joe Biden’s victory in the state. Arizona Republican Party Chairwoman Kelli Ward, who filed a lawsuit contesting the election results, is looking for irregularities among the nearly 28,000 ballots in Maricopa County that were duplicated by elections officials because voters’ earlier ballots were damaged or couldn’t be tabulated. She requested a broader examination of the ballots after a court-ordered inspection of 100 duplicated ballots on Tuesday found two instances in...
