Welcome to the weekend the new lockdowns announced in places like France and Germany in recent days keep Big Business open with big factories and Big Government open with schools while many suffer from it... In this Corporatist world Stalinist purging of the "undesirable" elements and the challenge to remember Pastor Niemoller's words: "first they came for" And they're going after all kinds of people like Piers Corbyn brother of Jeremy Corbyn arrested for organizing a rally opposing the COVID-19 lockdown in the UK and now of course the former Labor Party leader getting suspended from his party for saying...

The document, which lays out in detail Facebook’s policies for dealing with misinformation on Facebook and Instagram, sheds new light on the process that led to the company’s decision to reduce the distribution of the story. Stories can be “enqueued” for Facebook’s third-party factcheckers in one of two ways: either by being flagged by an AI, or by being manually added by one of the factcheckers themselves. Facebook’s AI looks for signals “including feedback from the community and disbelief comments” to automatically predict which posts might contain misinformation. “Predicted content is temporarily (for seven days) soft demoted in feed (at...

People who live through traumatic experiences in childhood often suffer long-lasting consequences that affect their mental and physical health. But moreover, their children and grand-children can also be impacted as well. In this particular form of inheritance, sperm and egg cells pass on information to offspring not through their DNA sequence like classical genetic heredity, but rather via biological factors involving the epigenome that regulates genome activity. However, the big question is how the signals triggered by traumatic events become embedded in germ cells.“Our hypothesis was that circulating factors in blood play a role,” says Isabelle Mansuy, professor of neuroepigenetics...

How did President Trump win in 2016? How will he win again on Tuesday, November 3rd? It's not rocket science. He whistle-stops. In 2016 aboard his private jet. In 2020, via Air Force One. Whistle-stopping is as old as the hills. Historians trace it back to the campaign-by-train of William Henry Harrison in 1836. But my favorite whistle-stopper was a Democratic president whom I greatly admire, Harry S. Truman. In 1948, Harry Truman, wife Bess and daughter Margaret traveled 31,000 miles and delivered 356 speeches from the caboose of their train, the Ferdinand Magellan. As always, Hollywood director Frank Capra...

My father passed away today in his sleep. He was sick for a while and for last few days he was doing not too well and he was slipping away so we were expecting he would pass away soon. But this night (we live in the Netherlands) he passed away in his sleep. He was my hero and always supported me so I will miss him a lot. But I have comfort that he is with my brother now who passed away 4 years ago.

Miles Taylor has been identified as the author of a notorious anonymous op-ed in The New York Times in 2018 that claimed he was part of a secret “resistance” inside President Donald Trump’s administration. Taylor revealed himself Wednesday in a tweet. In a statement accompanying the announcement, Taylor observed that “Trump sees personal criticism as subversive,” adding, “I take a different view.” “We do not owe the President our silence,” he said. “We owe him and the American people the truth.” Taylor served as chief of staff to Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen while the agency carried out Trump’s policy...

A recent Lee Valley newsletter had an article on carrots - harvesting, storing; and included a 'refrigerator pickle' recipe for carrots that looks very easy and good: http://www.leevalley.com/en-us/discover/gardening/2020/october/make-the-most-of-your-carrot-crop____________________________________________________ I recently purchased one of these embossed rolling pins; a lot of them appear to come from Poland, as mine did; but I received mine very quickly. Haven't tried it yet, but am looking forward to using it for Christmas. They make many different designs, including one with reindeer and Christmas trees, which I also want to buy for a darker, spicy cookie. (They generally come with recipes; but if you search...

This summer’s Republican National Convention was full of references to Abraham Lincoln, which is no surprise, given that Donald Trump likes to compare himself to the 16th president. It’s a comparison that aggravates Trump’s critics, who don’t like to see the man they consider the nation’s worst chief executive linked with the man widely regarded as the best. This may make those critics’ heads explode, but there are some fascinating parallels between the two presidents, as well as some contrasts. For starters, they share the same political party. Lincoln was the first Republican president. Trump is the 19th. Both men...

Lori Loughlin wants to be home for the holidays -- or at least by 2021 -- which is why she reported early to prison for her two-month sentence, according to a new report. On Friday, the actress reported to the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, Calif., a U.S. Bureau of Prisons spokesperson at the facility confirmed to Fox News. She had until Nov. 19 to report to prison. Now, according to People magazine, citing a legal source close to Loughlin, the reasoning behind it is due to the fact that she wants to be released by the end of the...

In a wide-ranging interview with an Italian news agency published Friday (Oct. 30), Francis said he believes 'criticism to be constructive' and a 'guide in my journey on everything, on everyone.'VATICAN CITY (RNS) — In a wide-ranging interview with an Italian news agency published Friday (Oct. 30), Pope Francis addressed his relationship with his predecessor, Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI, saying the retired pope is “like a father and a brother to me.” Francis, who sat for the interview with AdnKronos on Tuesday (Oct. 27), said, “Our relationship is really good, very good, and we agree on what needs to be...

(it bears repeating) Q is the result of the sacrifices and commitment of countless patriots to win back our captured country from the Deep State and achieve the transformation President Trump promised in this campaign video. President Trump has said the awakening of the public is key to this transformation.Q describes this awakening as follows: "The Great Awakening ('Freedom of Thought’), was designed and created not only as a backchannel to the public (away from the longstanding 'mind’ control of the corrupt & heavily biased media) to endure future events through transparency and regeneration of individual thought (breaking the chains...

Anatoly Vlezko, head of the Palekh iconostasis workshop, answers. The hands of the Savior, the Mother of God and the saints are never depicted by icon painters "just like that", in an arbitrary gesture, every detail on the icon is symbolic. When we present an icon of the Lord Jesus Christ, we most often remember His blessing gesture. The fingers of the right hand are folded for a blessing - like the Latin letters I and X (that is, Jesus Christ). Or collected in three fingers - a symbol of the Holy Trinity (but in the same way as the Old...

Students at Clare College Cambridge are trying to have a porter removed from his job after he refused to endorse radical gender ideology. In his role as a city councillor, Kevin Price was asked to vote for a motion that contained the statement: “Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Non-binary individuals are non-binary.” He said such phrases would “send a chill down the spines” of many women, and rather than vote against his party, he chose to resign from his role as a matter of conscience. ‘Unfit for role’Unhappy at Price’s decision, the Union of Clare Students (UCS)...

Michigan’s mask mandate in schools prevents students from getting a Catholic education, a Lansing elementary school argues in a new lawsuit against the state. Resurrection School – a Catholic school in Lansing – is suing Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Director Robert Gordon for his mandate requiring mask wearing in schools all day because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Parents of students at Resurrection are also plaintiffs in the lawsuit. The plaintiffs are urging U.S. District Court Judge Paul Maloney to strike down the “unreasonable” order for schools, arguing it’s damaging developmentally and religiously. Maloney has been asked to...

Last year at this time, President Donald Trump was battling the House Democrats' impeachment inquiry against him. If that wasn't enough, media outlets reported "thousands" of witches were trying to cast a "binding spell" on him on Halloween. Now those practitioners of witchcraft are at it again, celebrating the rare confluence of two "powerful" moon events in one month, all in an effort to get Joe Biden elected and President Trump removed from office.

Megyn Kelly slammed the Girl Scouts of America for succumbing to pressure and deleting a tweet celebrating the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. The organization, which presumably seeks to empower girls and celebrate the achievements of powerful women they can aspire to be, caved to critics and lawmakers. The original post was captioned: “Congratulations Amy Coney Barrett on becoming the 5th woman appointed to the Supreme Court since its inception in 1789.” The tweet showed each of the five women. Certainly a cause worthy of celebration, no doubt.
