British scientists are beginning a small study comparing how two experimental coronavirus vaccines might work when they are inhaled by people instead of being injected. In a statement on Monday, researchers at Imperial College London and Oxford University said a trial involving 30 people would test vaccines developed by both institutions when participants inhale the droplets in their mouths, which would directly target their respiratory systems. Larger studies of the Imperial and Oxford vaccine are already under way, but this study aims to see if the vaccines might be more effective if they are inhaled. […] The study is currently...

Ben Norton Comes Out For Stalin... June 12, 2020 Churchill was a genocidal racist colonialist who intentionally killed MILLIONS of Indians in the middle of WWII If people actually wanted to honor the leader who defeated Nazism, it'd be Stalin. But they'd NEVER build a statue of him. Ever Because this isn't actually about WWIIlink Some People Are So Antisemitic, They Support Hezbollah. Algemeiner, Aug. 14, 2020 A white Westerner who considers himself a liberal is saying that Lebanese people who disagree with his rabid hate of Israel are “sellouts” for hating Hezbollah more. This is a typical, racist attitude...

Two police officers were ambushed and shot last night in LA. A manhunt was underway in California early Sunday after two Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were shot in their patrol car Saturday by a suspect who “opened fire without warning or provocation,” authorities said. The deputies, a 24-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, were both in critical condition and “fighting for their lives” as they underwent surgery following the attack, which occurred around 7 p.m. local time outside a Metro rail station in Compton, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. ... Both deputies were sworn-in just over a year ago and the female deputy is the mother of a 6-year-old...

Six European Union countries and the bloc’s executive Commission have begun testing a virtual “gateway” to ensure national coronavirus tracing apps can work across borders. The trial starting Monday will allow national computer systems that run tracing apps in the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Italy and Latvia to communicate with each other via a central hub. If the tests succeed, travelers from each of the six countries will be able to use their own apps while abroad in the other five to ensure they’re notified if they have been in close contact to another user who tests positive. Tracing...

This week a video of CNN's talking head Chris Cuomo coaching former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen on what answers he should give in the actual on-air "interview" fell into the hands of FoxNews' Tucker Carlson. Carlson criticized Cuomo for "manufacturing a scripted drama written to benefit the Democratic Party. Cuomo told Cohen to use the word 'shady' to describe Trump's dealings and to dodge questions about his role in the non-disclosure payment to Stormy Daniels." Cuomo defended his actions, calling them "cutting edge advances in how all political interviews will be conducted in the future. We've seen how the Biden...

Joyce’s Tavern in Staten Island had never been visited by the State Liquor Authority before the pandemic. But they "selfishly" decided to hold a charity event for the Tunnel2Towers organization, which was created to honor the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller who died saving others on September 11, 2001. New York City Councilman Joe Borelli, who held a book signing at the tavern last week, explained in an animated Twitter thread on Sunday how the city raided the restaurant without warning. He had an inkling as to why the city targeted this specific restaurant. On Thurs, They let me have...

When the UK went into lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, it happened so fast that people had no time to think. For Tumblr user wafflesrisa, that meant that at the law firm where she works, no one was able to bring home their office plants. She and everyone else just assumed their plants had died from not being watered for over three months. Little did they know that the security team in their building had been caring for their plants the whole time. isa writes, "Here's something cute: When lockdown happened in the UK it happened very suddenly. At...

John Cartafalsa, 91, was relieved to get home to the Upper West Side after spending five months of the pandemic stranded in Florida. But as he entered his apartment lobby, his eyes were drawn to a disturbing sight. Tucked at the feet of a neighbor waiting for the elevator was Cartafalsa’s precious Christopher Columbus statue, a gift from a Sicilian-born relative to honor his law school graduation in 1957. For 30 years the 15-inch bronze has held pride of place in an alcove in the lobby of Cartafalsa’s Riverside Drive co-op. There it remained, unmolested, until 5:55 pm June 29...

Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Tyler Eifert honored David Dorn during his Sunday game against the Colts. Eifert placed Dorn’s name on the back of his helmet for the big 27-20 win over Indianapolis. Dorn was a retired police captain who was murdered at the age of 77 during the riots in St. Louis this summer in June. -snip This is a 100% pure class move from Eifert, and there’s no other way to put it. The NFL is letting players wear helmet decals with the names of people impacted by “systemic racism,” and it’s obviously become super political. However, Dorn wasn’t impacted by police violence, but...

The Atlantic‘s Jeffrey Goldberg scored the first post-impeachment interview with Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman on Monday and asked what he described as the “key question”: “Does he believe that Trump is an asset of Russian intelligence?” Vindman’s answer largely regurgitates left-wing conspiracy theories about Russian influence (original emphasis):

Democrats plan to end the filibuster and pack the Supreme Court with radical judges. These changes would give the left license to radically transform the nation. There is, however, another threat they’ve dusted off ahead of the Nov. 3rd election that—if executed—wouldn’t just be transformative, but totally destructive. They want to abolish the Electoral College. Destroying this institution will mean the end of national campaigning (and the engagement, negotiation, and localized promises that go along with it). What politician will ever again stump in Kenosha or Breckenridge? What will a vote get you in Idaho or Montana? It will mean...

Wait a second: is CNN mislabeling Jonathan Reiner? They describe him as their "medical analyst"—but is he in fact their "legal analyst?" Because on today's New Day, Reiner wasn't content to merely blame President Trump for coronavirus-related deaths. Nope: Reiner declared Trump guilty of a very specific crime: "negligent homicide." Reiner's legal theory was that President Trump is guilty of negligent homicide because he held a Nevada rally at which masks were not mandatory. Reiner then made a ghoulish suggestion: that if President Trump sincerely believes there is no danger, he should "vigorously" shake supporters' hands at rope lines. Should...

The USA Today sports section never misses an opportunity to bash President Donald Trump, and former Green Bay and Seattle Coach Mike Holmgren gave the newspaper another opportunity to do that Saturday. The retired coach appeared in a virtual Green Bay press conference to announce his support for Joe Biden and accuse Trump of malfeasance in his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Holmgren (in photo) and Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich, a Democrat, "both said Trump took a dishonest, disorganized approach to managing the virus that killed more than 190,000 people in the United States," according to the story written...

The Russian Orthodox Church does not exclude the possibility of creating a new religious object in Moscow, which will take the place of the mausoleum of Vladimir Lenin. The building is located on Red Square. Leonid Kalinin, representing one of the expert councils, spoke on this matter. On the air for “Moscow speaking” the latter gave a comment on the competition, which involves the collection of options for re-using the mausoleum. At the same time, the topic remains outside the competence of the Russian Orthodox Church. This will change only if they approve the decision to create a church object...

A few days prior to delivering a speech during the opening night of the recent Republican National Convention, guest-speaker and former football star Herschel Walker ripped Democrats in a tweet for “playing the race card way too much,” at their own convention the week prior. While Walker clearly has a legitimate point, it was actually a huge understatement. In 2020, every card in the Democrats’ deck is the race card. There are no clubs or diamonds. There are no one-eyed Jacks or suicide Kings; and please feel free to insert your own witty comment here about Jokers. Democrats will “play...

EAST OF THE EXALTATION OF THE HOLY CROSS JOHN 3:13-17 Friends, Jesus is speaking to Nicodemus and he tells him, “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.” Why does the Son come? Is it because God is angry? Because God wants to lord it over us? Because God needs something? No, he comes purely out of love, out of God’s desire that we flourish: “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the...

When I moved, a few items never made it here. I suspect they found new homes in the movers' residences. One of the things I really miss is my electric staple/brad gun. Not that I do heavy-duty contractor work (ha!), but it was nice to have staples driving into wood or upholstery or molding which didn't depend on my personal strength or the size of my hands. Whap! Whap! Whap! and my project would be done. I cannot remember which staple/brad gun I had. The contenders for a new one are Arrow T50AC, DeWalt 5 in 1 multi tacker, and...
