New daily Coronavirus cases in the United States fell for the first time in over a week, according to the latest numbers from Worldometers. On Sunday March 29th, the US registered 18,469 new daily Coronavirus cases, which was down from 19,452 on Saturday. This could very well mark the beginning of a "peak" in new Coronavirus cases in the United States. While the "total" case number is still seeing steady growth, this drop in "daily new" cases could mean that the exponential spread of the virus has come to a grinding halt.

Organisers of Brighton Pride still plan on holding one of the UK 's biggest LGBT+ events despite calls to cancel due to coronavirus. More than 100 major Pride events round the world, including London, Birmingham and EuroPride, have abandoned this year's events but with just 18 weeks to go, Brighton - worth around £20 million to the city - has not yet said it will cancel. Thousands of people take part, with parades through the streets as crowds line the pavements. The huge festival attracts hundreds of thousands of people each year and is an essential charity fund-raising event for...

Let this sink in—under New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo—who is being hailed as the next great thing in Democratic presidential politics, the New York State prison system just released eight sex offenders from jail. Three of these inmates had been convicted of raping children. So, while liberals race to save prison inmates from coronavirus, we are releasing sexual deviants back into the community to rape again. Law Enforcement Today has learned from Breitbart News that this weekend in Monroe County, New York, the jail freed more than 50 inmates from custody as part of the state’s legalized jailbreak program sponsored by the Department of...

  • Why have so many Coronavirus patients died in Italy? NOTE: Only 12% of death certificates have shown a direct causality from Covid-19

The coronavirus pandemic is exacting a heavy toll on Italy, with hospitals overwhelmed and a nationwide lockdown imposed. But experts are also concerned about a seemingly high death rate, with the number of fatalities outstripping the total reported in China. Of the 63,927 people confirmed coronavirus patients in Italy, 6,077 so far have died. By contrast China has many more cases, 81,496, but 3,274 fatalities. In very crude terms, this means that around nine per cent of confirmed coronavirus patients have died in Italy, compared to four per cent in China. By this measure Germany, which has so far identified...

The anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine has made headlines in recent weeks for its potential to help with the new coronavirus disease, COVID-19, though its benefits remain unproven. Now, a new study will test whether the drug can prevent COVID-19 transmission. For the study, researchers in New York and Washington state plan to enroll 2,000 participants who are close contacts of people with confirmed or pending COVID-19 diagnoses. Participants will be randomly assigned to take either hydroxychloroquine or a placebo for two weeks, and they will be tested daily for COVID-19, according to a statement from the University of Washington (UW), which...

Police show up after Mass, warn Canadian priest of fines for breaking COVID-19 orders The Toronto church followed the government's directives, but cops arrived 'to educate the parish.' TORONTO, March 30, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) — Toronto police showed up directly after Mass last week to warn a priest that he could be fined for violating a provincial order restricting public gatherings because of the coronavirus. But Fr. Dominique Boulet of the Society of St. Pius X says his parish complied with Premier Doug Ford’s March 17 directive — which allowed gatherings of up to 50 people — when they held a...

The Chinese government has waged a months-long disinformation campaign to portray itself as the country that defeated the virus, when it attempted to hide it for months. At midnight on Friday, China closed its borders to the rest of the world as it tries to stop a resurgence of the coronavirus. The move was the culmination of a months-long PR and disinformation campaign waged by the Chinese government to rewrite the history of a pandemic that has spread to almost every corner of the planet, killed more than 34,000 people, and infected almost three-quarters of a million. China initially ignored...

[Catholic Caucus] Bishop Schneider: Priests don’t have to obey bishops, govt who suspend Mass over COVID-19 Priests may disobey 'human law' to save souls March 30, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – Bishop Athanasius Schneider has stated that a priest, using discretion and following the necessary health precautions “has not to obey the directives of his bishop or the government to suspend Mass for the faithful.” He also described the COVID-19 pandemic as a chastisement and a purification. Directives canceling all public Masses “are a pure human law; however, the supreme law in the Church is the salvation of souls,” said the auxiliary...

Weeks ago it was clear that the coronavirus presented a unique threat to homeless people who often have underlying conditions that make them more vulnerable than the rest of the population. Cities up and down the west coast have rushed to take emergency measures to get as many people as possible inside, but that has its own risks as shelters are often overcrowded and put ill people a few feet apart from other vulnerable people as they sleep. Now we’re starting to see the first confirmed cases of the virus among the homeless population. In Seattle, four people have...

CNA Staff, Mar 30, 2020 / 02:45 pm (CNA).- Amid lockdowns responding to the coronavirus pandemic, at least three priests were arrested Sunday for celebrating Mass publicly, in alleged defiance of government orders banning religious gatherings during the pandemic. In Uganda, Fr. Deogratius Kiibi Kateregga was arrested March 29 for celebrating Mass at St Joseph’s Catholic Parish in Mpigi, Uganda. There were reportedly at least 15 Catholics in attendance at the Mass. The priest is well-known in Uganda, and came to national notoriety after a televised 2018 sermon at the memorial Mass for a Ugandan musician, Mowzey Radio, who died...

Via Nate Silver, most of us are way out of our depth in trying to understand this stuff. I feel more out of my depth each day as I try to reconcile the increasingly hair-raising projections being made by most epidemiologists with the implications of the Oxford model of the disease, which speculates that asymptomatic infections are much more common than anyone realizes. But I’m going to try anyway. If Oxford is right, it means two things are likely true and they’re both welcome news. One: The case fatality rate is much lower than we’ve assumed. A large number of...

Joe Biden’s campaign is looking to expand its fundraising operation as it prepares to take on President Donald Trump in the general election. Officials within Biden’s organization have discussed bringing in a new group of regional fundraising advisors, including former aides to Sen. Kamala Harris’ and Pete Buttigieg’s campaigns, who could help them expand their donor network, according to people familiar with the matter. These people declined to be named because the talks were private. Biden had a strong March, raising more than $30 million in online donations, as the coronavirus has pushed his campaign into a fully online platform,...
