House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) announced late Wednesday night that he expects the chamber will pass an economic relief bill in response to the coronavirus later in the week in a way that won’t require all members to travel back to Washington. Hoyer wrote in a letter to colleagues that he expects the House will pass the legislation on Friday morning by voice vote. Many lawmakers are fearful of having to travel back and forth between Washington and their communities, as well as congregate with each other in the Capitol. A major source of information upon which government leaders have relied to urge or order the canceling of public events, shut down of businesses and sheltering in place has proved to be inaccurate. The Federalist's Madeline Osburn points out many members of the media and state officials are relying on an online mapping tool called COVID Act Now. The site, with a map of catastrophic forecasts for each state, boasts of enabling "political leaders to quickly make decisions in their Coronavirus response informed by best available data and modeling." "But a closer look at how many of COVID Act Now's...

A minister who has been leading a weekly Bible-study group for members of President Trump's Cabinet has posted online his belief that amid the coronavirus, America is not experiencing God's "forsaking wrath" but, rather, his "consequential wrath." "Some leading evangelicals believe and teach that America is now experiencing God's judgment," wrote Ralph Drollinger, a former NBA player and the founder of Capitol Ministries, which provides Bible studies, evangelism and discipleship to political leaders. "If that is the case, as a public servant who is sacrificing so much in your attempt to turn our nation around, it would stand to reason...

As the novel coronavirus incubated in Wuhan from mid-December to mid-January, the Chinese state made evidently intentional misrepresentations to its people concerning the outbreak, providing false assurances to the population preceding the approach of the Lunar New Year celebrations on Jan. 25. In mid-December, an outbreak of a novel influenza-like illness was traced to workers and customers of the city’s Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market, which contained exotic and wild animal species. On Dec. 26, multiple Chinese news outlets released reports of an anonymous laboratory technician who made a startling discovery: The sickness was caused by a new coronavirus that was 87 percent similar to...

The Bureau of Prisons failed to adequately monitor thousands of communications from more than 500 inmates with ties to terrorism, according to a Justice Department inspector general report released Wednesday. In the nearly 70-page report, Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz wrote that the Bureau of Prisons did not take appropriate steps to review the mail, email, phone calls, video sessions and cellblock conversations of domestic and international terrorist inmates. For example, the bureau failed to flag a letter that a high-risk inmate received from his wife detailing her intent to compromise a staff member at his prison. The BOP also...

One day there will be a dark unending abyss. One without beginning or end, without time or space. A mere black void, of intention and as I gaze upon it, peering into its endless depth I will realize it will have nothing more perverse than what I’ve seen during the great clown age. Make no mistake the headline is not an attempt to compete with the Babylon Bee for the most outrageous satirical piece. The book in question is very much real. Marvel’s recent attempt to cash in on the step-sibling trend on Pornhub has hilarious and massively backfired in...
