HOW TO SPEND THE DASH I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend. he referred to the dates on her tombstone from the beginning....to the end. He noted that first came the date of her birth and spoke of the following date with tears, but he said what mattered the most of all was the dash between those years. For the dash represents all the time that she spent alive on earth...... and now only those who loved her know what that little line is worth. For it matters...

The AP ran with the story, and it was repeated by other news outlets. This is the New York Times version...Wynn sued Kuta for defamation, requesting $1 in damages. [Catholic Caucus] Archdiocese of Washington ‘Directs’ National Shrine to Suspend Public Mass WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception announced Friday afternoon it will suspend the public celebration of Mass and the hearing of confessions until further notice, just hours after the shrine said it would keep to its public Mass and confession schedule unless ordered to close by civic authorities. WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 12, 2020) - CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta and other experts are predicting that, as the coronavirus continues to spread, our country's need for ventilators for the 1% of those afflicted who require them - one million people - would completely overwhelm the available supply of only about 72,000 full ventilators, many of which are already in use for patients with other medical problems. But CPAP machines, already in wide use for people who snore, might be used as a temporary stopgap for those whose ventilator needs are not as severe and as complicated, suggests professor John Banzhaf,...

“Be quiet. Just let the experts speak.” Joe Biden should take his own advice. Democrats are so desperate to score political points out of a global pandemic they are playing into the hands of the communist regime whose cover-up led to the pandemic in the first place. From the beginning, President Trump acted decisively. Experts like Anthony Fauci credited the initial travel ban from China for saving us “really a lot of hurt.”What was Biden saying? Days before the Trump administration finalized the travel restrictions, in an editorial Biden warned against “reactionary” travel bans, claiming it “would only have made things...

For a pandemic that seems particularly fatal for the elderly, Joe Biden has tapped a so-called "expert" to advise him about the Wuhan coronavirus. The only problem with the "expert" is that he believes people should die before they get too old, saying he himself wishes to die at the age of 75. Biden is 77. The former vice president and Democratic presidential candidate has decided to create a "Public Health Advisory Committee" to inform him about the coronavirus while the candidate campaigns for the White House. Biden is trying to paint a picture of himself as an informed, capable...

The 16 Dead Sea Scroll fragments housed at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., considered its most prized possessions, are modern forgeries, independent researchers have found. “The Museum of the Bible is trying to be as transparent as possible,” the museum’s CEO Harry Hargrave said, according to National Geographic. “We’re victims —we’re victims of misrepresentation, we’re victims of fraud.” The Advisory Team of Art Fraud Insights, whose services were hired by the museum for a thorough physical and chemical investigation of all 16 pieces, unanimously concluded that none of the textual fragments housed in the museum are authentic....

China showed the world what a model superpower should be by the way they handled the original outbreak of the coronavirus. At least, that's what Chinese communist propaganda has been telling us in the last few days.Washington Examiner: “China Bought the West Time. The West Squandered It,” reads the headline to an opinion article published Friday by the New York Times. Earlier, on Thursday, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow hosted reporter Donald McNeil, who explained that China has had “enormous success in beating down its epidemic” because of its advancements in healthcare technology, testing, and mandatory quarantines. Maddow was so impressed with...

**SNIP** If there ever was a real threat to our democracy in today’s rancid political climate, it emanates from Pelosi, Schumer, and the Democrats who follow them like lemmings. This coronavirus first appeared in November 2019. By December 31, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan knew about it and were on alert. Singapore knew on January 4. South Korea on January 8. By January 9 the World Health Organization and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control were onto it. And what was Congress doing during this time? We all recall that December was consumed with impeachment, and that the...

"Our Father who art in heaven" (Matt. 6:9). With God as your Father, your life has eternal significance. Author H.G. Wells wrote of a man who had been overcome by the pressure and stress of modern life. His doctor told him that his only hope was to find fellowship with God. The man responded, "What? That—up there—having fellowship with me? I would as soon think of cooling my throat with the Milky Way or shaking hands with the stars." Poet Thomas Hardy said that prayer is useless because there's no one to pray to except "that dreaming, dark, dumb thing...

Old and busted: It’ll be 1968 all over again! New hotness: It’ll be 1368 all over again! DNC officials began to raise questions about the wisdom of holding a political convention in July, the Washington Post reports, as Wisconsin’s governor declared a health emergency two days ago. Instead of putting thousands of people into a crowded public venue in Milwaukee, some party officials want “contingencies” explored for a virtual convention, perhaps even a mail-in system: Some Democratic Party officials this week began to express concern about plans to bring tens of thousands of people to Milwaukee for the July...

On Thursday, John wrote about the recently announced nuptials of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and her then-campaign consultant Tim Mynett, the head of E Street Group. (The company denies having anything to do with Bruce Springsteen.) While Omar’s marital history still raises many questions, one of which I’ll get to in a moment, the current media scrutiny about this event has more to do with questions of potential campaign finance impropriety. At the WaPo, Michelle Ye Hee Lee looks back at the new groom’s involvement with Omar’s campaigns and the financial windfall it brought him and his firm. Since...

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., blasted the coronavirus response during her first virtual town hall Saturday, and ticked off a list of new priorities including universal basic income, student reimbursements and expanded health care. The Bronx progressive voted early Saturday morning for the new bipartisan House legislation to offer paid sick days, expanded food assistance, emergency paid family leave and free coronavirus tests because it signified progress. "It is a step forward, but it is completely insufficient," Ocasio-Cortez said Saturday during a video conference with her constituents on the pandemic response and the 2020 Census. Ocasio-Cortez called for working families to...

The Daily Caller reported Thursday that Speaker Nancy Pelosi was trying to weasel in taxpayer funding for abortions in the emergency spending bill to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. According to senior administration officials, Pelosi lobbied for a mandate for up to $1 billion to reimburse laboratory claims. That mandate would have been taken as a loophole in health spending without protections outlined in the Hyde Amendment. The Hyde Amendment is a legislative provision barring the use of federal funds to pay for abortion with two exceptions – to save the life of the woman, or if the pregnancy arises from...
