There is occasionally good sense in just standing back and watching the grand spectacle known as democracy. The presidential tryouts, known as the primaries, have been a strong prop of that reasoning. People who want, or say they want, to be president step on the stage and tell us why. They strut their stuff, for better or worse. They talk (almost interminably) about their challenging childhoods, the sacrifices their parents made on their behalf, the flash of inspiration that led them to the political trade. They lay out their strategic plans for the first 100 days after the inauguration. And...

The Democrat Party’s “establishment”, i.e., the part of the party’s leadership that still tries to hide its’ true socialist nature, is pulling out all the stops for Quid Pro Joe. – Having now realized that Mini-Mike Bloomberg is too inept and flawed as a candidate to ever be able to unite the party’s demented voter base, the Democrat poobahs pulled out all the stops on Monday to try to lift their Unfrozen Caveman Senator to wins in some key Super Tuesday states today. It probably won’t work, given that “pulling out all the stops” just means that Crazy Uncle Joe...

Rosie O’Donnell has struck up an unlikely friendship with President Trump’s incarcerated former personal attorney Michael Cohen. Outspoken Trump loather and archnemesis O’Donnell contacted Cohen in writing after he was sent to the medium-security federal prison in Otisville, NY, last year, according to a source. Comedian and former host of “The View” O’Donnell is even said to have visited Cohen — who is again shopping a tell-all book about his years working for Trump — at the upstate facility. The source said, “Rosie and Michael have bonded over Trump, and she’s helping him with his book, which is now highly...

President Trump highlighted former Vice President Joe Biden's gaffes late Monday, saying the Democratic presidential candidate doesn't know "what office he's running for." "Sleepy Joe doesn’t know where he is, or what he’s doing," Trump tweeted. "Honestly, I don’t think he even knows what office he's running for!"

In a hypersexualized world, where reality dating shows revolve around sex appeal and dating drama, Netflix’s new show, Love is Blind, has refreshingly changed the focus of relationships to the importance of emotional connection before physical. In doing so, an uncomfortable truth was shown: men are using abortion as a means to escape responsibility, and abortion is hurting women in the process. Tearfully, one of the contestants named Amber shared her personal experience with abortion. After disclosing an unexpected pregnancy to a previous boyfriend, she thought to be her “other half,†who in turn went into “problem-solving mode†asking, “How...

Last month, NY Times columnist Paul Krugman offered his opinion that Bernie Sanders isn’t really a socialist. “Bernie Sanders isn’t actually a socialist in any normal sense of the term,” Krugman wrote. As for why he has called himself a socialist for the past four decades, Krugman had an explanation for that: “I’d say that it’s mainly about personal branding, with a dash of glee at shocking the bourgeoisie.” ... Today the New Yorker interviewed Georgetown University professor Michael Kazin, who is currently writing a book about the history of the Democratic Party. Kazin said Sanders is not merely following...

The state legislature recently passed a bill that will allow transgender individuals to receive a new birth certificate, something advocates said will help transgender people acquire documentation in alignment with their identity. Senate Bill 657, sponsored by Sen. Jennifer Boysko, D-Fairfax, will allow a person to receive a new birth certificate to reflect the change of sex without the requirement of surgery. The individual seeking a new birth certificate also may list a new name if they provide a certified copy of a court order of the name change. The bill requires proof from a health care provider that the...

MSNBC's Chris Matthews on Monday announced he is retiring effective immediately. Monday's episode of "Hardball" will be the last. "Let me start with my headline tonight. I'm retiring. This is the last 'Hardball' on MSNBC and, obviously, this isn't for a lack of interest in politics," Matthews explained. "As you can tell, I've loved every minute of my 20 years as host of 'Hardball.' Every morning I read the papers and I'm gung-ho to get to work. Not many people have had this privilege." According to the host, he has enjoyed his time working with producers to decide the angle...

Attention Natalie Stoclet! Your use of water in the United States does not “affect the water crisis†in Cape Town, South Africa. The real reason that Cape Town has a “water crisis†is because it chose to reject Israel’s offer of help to build desalination plants. A writer named Natalie Stoclet recently wrote this article, which is called “I lived a week without using any water – and it showed me just how much we’re affecting the water crisis.â€Stoclet describes the “water crisis†with these words:663 million people in the developing world don’t have immediate access to water, yet the average...

2020 Democrat Joe Biden stumbled over his words as he attempted to recite the Declaration of Independence ahead of Super Tuesday. “We hold these truths to be self-evident,” the former vice president said during a campaign event in Texas on Monday. "All men and women created by - you know, you know, the thing.” During the stop, he also accidentally referred to Super Tuesday as "Super Thursday" before correcting himself.

Some students at the venerable, all-female Wellesley College are calling for an end to use of the term … women. A staff editorial in the Wellesley News bemoans the popular on-campus catchphrases such as “Wellesley sisters,” “Women Who Will,” and “Wellesley women,” and asks that instead there be a more concerted effort to use gender-neutral language all around. In particular, three suggestions put forth by the campus journalists are: When discussing the student body, say “Wellesley students” rather than “Wellesley women.” Avoid making statements like “We’re all women here…” Use gender-neutral language whenever possible in syllabi and other general written...

On 27 February, 2020, at 1 p.m., Governor Bill Lee announced he is proposing Constitutional Carry for Tennessee in 2020. Tennessee has been a prime candidate to join the growing number of states with Constitutional Carry. Currently 16 states have Constitutional Carry of varying degrees. Constitutional Carry is an approximation of the state of law and the Second Amendment at the time of the ratification of the Bill of Rights in 1791. At that time there were no laws restricting the carry of weapons, openly or concealed.Concealed weapons were common in the early republic, from knives and sword canes to...

When it comes to healthcare, Bernie Sanders is all alone. The Vermont senator is one of just two presidential candidates who support Medicare for All. The other, Senator Elizabeth Warren, has fallen in the polls and never fully embraced Sanders' radical proposal to begin with. The rest of the Democratic field -- including former Vice President Joe Biden, former Mayor Mike Bloomberg and Senator Amy Klobuchar -- has instead proposed establishing a government-run health insurance plan that would compete against private insurers. These candidates have a lot of support for their plans. Nationwide, 68 percent of adults favor a "public...

Up to a million people could be tested for coronavirus by the end of week, the FDA said Monday, as cases across the US rose to more than 100 and health officials warned that the number will keep climbing. Cases of the virus have now been reported in 12 states -- the majority of them in California and Washington state, where six people have died. About a quarter of the current cases were likely transmitted through US communities, officials have said, meaning they were not travel-related. "My concern is as the next week or two or three go by, we're...
