If you went to bed early Tuesday, you were surprised to wake up Wednesday and learn that World War III has been delayed. No doubt you were also shocked that Iran blinked, oil prices were tumbling and the stock market was soaring. Once again, the Chicken Little chorus got everything all wrong. The sky isn’t falling and Donald Trump pulled off a huge victory. Oh, and he’s still president. Iran’s decision to pretend it was retaliating for the death of Qassem Soleimani, by lobbing ineffective missiles is terrific news for America and freedom loving people everywhere. So was Trump’s Wednesday...

More Democrats are urging House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to send the articles of impeachment against President Trump to the Senate so a trial can get underway. Those joining the list include Sen. Dianne Feinstein from Pelosi's home state of California, as well as Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and independent Angus King of Maine, who caucuses with the Democrats. “The longer it goes on the less urgent it becomes,” Feinstein told Politico about Pelosi's withholding of the articles approved last month, charging Trump with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. “So if it’s serious and urgent, send them...

A South Carolina senator has raised a bill that, if passed, would require the state to compensate women who are unable to obtain abortions because of a proposed ‘heartbeat bill’ banning abortion once a preborn child’s heartbeat can be detected. SB 928, entitled the “South Carolina Pro Birth Accountability Act,” states that a woman who is unable to have an abortion because of the law would be forced to be a “gestational surrogate” for the state “which cannot itself physically conceive or carry a child.” The bill refers to a preborn child as an “unborn embryo” and falsely claims that...

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Wednesday announced the House of Representatives' plans to vote on a War Powers Resolution which would prevent President Donald Trump from taking further action against Iran. The vote is scheduled for Thursday. According to Pelosi, President Trump "endangered our servicemembers, diplomats and others by risking a serious escalation of tensions with Iran" when he ordered the airstrike that killed Iranian Qud Force General Qasem Soleimani. The Speaker said it's obvious Trump "does not have a coherent strategy to keep the American people safe, achieve de-escalation with Iran and ensure stability in the region" and said...

A Cook County judge has ordered Google to turn over Jussie Smollett’s emails, photos, location data and private messages for an entire year as part of the special prosecutor’s investigation into the purported attack on the actor. Two sweeping search warrants, obtained by the Chicago Tribune, provide the first public glimpse at the direction of the probe by special prosecutor Dan Webb more than four months into the investigation. The warrants, filed last month in Circuit Court, sought a trove of documentation from Smollett and his manager’s Google accounts — not just emails but also drafted and deleted messages; any...

WASHINGTON—Eleven pages of State Department documents released on Jan. 7 in a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch show that Jonathan Winer, an assistant to then-Secretary of State John Kerry, used his private email address to convey information he received from former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele to top U.S. diplomatic officials. “I will send them to her [his assistant, Nina Miller] from my non-State email account, not copying myself,” Winer said in response to a December 2014 email from Paul Jones, principal deputy assistant secretary for European Affairs. Jones wanted Winer to use the State...

January 9 2020 Thursday after Epiphany Reading 1 1 JN 4:19–5:4 Beloved, we love God because he first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” but hates his brother, he is a liar; for whoever does not love a brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. This is the commandment we have from him: Whoever loves God must also love his brother. Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is begotten by God, and everyone who loves the Father loves also the one begotten by him. In this way we know...

When Vladimir Putin visits Istanbul on January 8, the Russian president will be doing more than officially opening a new export pipeline -- he will be getting some more closure on his longstanding dream to end Moscow's dependence on archrival Ukraine in getting natural gas to Europe. Russia has been seeking to cut gas transit through Ukraine since the mid 2000s, and the $7.8 billion TurkStream pipeline project is a big part of that strategic goal. The pipeline, which transits the Black Sea and surfaces outside Istanbul, took five years to complete and is one of two major new natural-gas...

The FBI and Utah state prosecutors working on a corruption investigation say they have uncovered accusations of financial wrongdoing by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and GOP Sen. Mike Lee, but the Justice Department has so far declined to act on their recommendation for a full federal investigation. Two district attorneys, one Democrat and one Republican, told The Washington Times, ABC News, and The Salt Lake Tribune this week that they have found evidence of possible financial wrongdoing by the lawmakers relating to suspect campaign contributions and other financial transactions. "There are allegations, but they are very serious allegations and...

Planned Parenthood’s latest annual report has revealed that the largest provider of abortions in the nation is bleeding donors. According to American Life League (ALL), Planned Parenthood lost almost 400,000 individual donors during the fiscal year ending last June. Jim Sedlak, executive director of American Life League, has tracked Planned Parenthood data for many years and told Live Action News that between 2000 and 2010, individual contributors dropped nearly 26 percent (24.57%) before beginning a climb upward. Now, it appears that the organization’s donors are again tracking downward, showing a loss of nearly 27 percent (26.66%) from just the previous...

Time magazine is trying to put out the fires of hysteria generated by the death of U.S.-designated Iranian terrorist Qassem Soleimani. Apparently the death of the brutal military leader weighs heavy, especially on the consciences of America’s children, so Time produced a guide for parents who need to talk to their kids about it. The piece, “How To Talk To Your Kids About the Situation With Iran,” is the latest farce in the media’s job of acting like the current Iran situation is messier than it is, all because Donald Trump is in charge. They say its a guide for...

Vice President Pence said Wednesday that intelligence is showing that Iran is directing its associated militias not to attack U.S. targets in the week after Gen. Qassem Soleimani’s death. Pence told “CBS Evening News” that the militias, of which Soleimani was the “primary leader,” are being instructed to hold back on striking the U.S. “Frankly, we’re receiving some encouraging intelligence that Iran is sending messages to those very same militias not to move against American targets or civilians,” he said. “And we hope that that message continues to echo.” CBS’s Norah O’Donnell asked the vice president if the strike authorized...

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo vowed on Wednesday to legalize marijuana in New York, prioritizing a push that fell apart last year amid tensions over who should be allowed to sell the drug and where the revenue should go. The governor described the effort as a long overdue criminal justice reform that could help salve wounds in communities affected by the decades-long war on drugs. “For decades, communities of color were disproportionately affected by the unequal enforcement of marijuana laws,” Mr. Cuomo said in his annual State of the State address. “Let’s legalize adult use of marijuana.” The effort comes as...
