Political parties, and their travails, have been much on my mind recently as I've been speaking to radio and television interviewers about my new book, "How America's Political Parties Change (And How They Don't)." The book thesis is that our two parties, founded in 1832 and 1854, have often changed positions on issues but have retained their basic character in a nation that has expanded from 25 million people to almost 330 million. The Republican Party has always been centered around a constituency of people thought of as typical Americans who are not by themselves a majority. The Democratic Party...

Freedom of speech is in the First Amendment for a reason. Freedom begins with the ability to speak your opinion without fear of censorship or violent reprisal or imprisonment. This is a precious human right, not something that most countries in the world revere like we have. But here in America, free speech is most dangerously under attack in the one place you would not expect: the universities. Dennis Prager and Adam Carolla have created a new documentary on the subject called "No Safe Spaces." Prager announces near the outset that a Pew Research Center survey found 49% of college...

"Let someone else fight over this long blood-stained sand," said President Donald Trump in an impassioned defense of his decision to cut ties to the Syrian Kurds, withdraw and end these "endless wars." Are our troops in Syria, then, on their way home? Well, not exactly. Those leaving northern Syria went into Iraq. Other U.S. soldiers will stay in Syria to guard oil wells that we and the Kurds captured in the war with ISIS. Another 150 U.S. troops will remain in al-Tanf to guard Syria's border with Iraq, at the request of Jordan and Israel. And 2,000 more U.S....

Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) and Adam Schiff (D-CA) issued a joint statement Thursday evening accusing President Donald Trump of politicizing the Department of Justice (DOJ) through a criminal investigation into the origins of the Russia probe. Nadler, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee, and Schiff, who chairs the House Intelligence Committee, issued a statement via Twitter: “If the Department of Justice may be used as a tool of political retribution, or to help the President with a political narrative for the next election, the rule of law will suffer new and irreparable damage.”

The gubernatorial candidates are both tied at 47 percent in the new poll, which appears to be the first out since the primary election last weekend. BATON ROUGE, La. — A new poll is giving the first glimpse of how the Nov. 16 race for the Louisiana governor's mansion could play out. The poll by We Ask America appears to be the first publicly-released post-primary poll of the Louisiana gubernatorial race, where incumbent [Democrat] John Bel Edwards faces off against Republican businessman Eddie Rispone.

My last two columns really have my leftist detractors’ panties in a wad. I’m not just speaking metaphorically about the feminists who don’t wear them. I’m also talking about the anti-gun Beto males who do. Given the fact that these columns on recommended firearms have caused so much emotional distress to my adversaries, there is only one reasonable thing to do: Keep writing them!In this installment, we are sticking to the theme of a man’s three principal responsibilities; defending the family at home, defending the family away from home, and raising responsible gun-owning children. But in this segment, we enter...

The rising tide of socialism in America is reaching a critical point as more Americans warm up to the idea of bigger, more intrusive government.A Gallup poll earlier this year found that 43 percent of Americans say socialism would be a good thing for the country. Other polls show similar findings. The percentages are even higher for women, minorities, and young people. If we hope to recognize this country 10 years from now, if we want to pass on to our children and grandchildren a nation that’s as least as free and prosperous as the one we inherited, we need to focus...

In a stunning move, he ordered the state’s public utilities regulator to explore potential grounds for revoking the company’s license. He also slammed his own agency, the Public Service Commission, for not preventing customers from become pipeline pawns, CBS2’s Marcia Kramer reported Thursday

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) shared a New York Times story about a 9-month-old infant who almost died from a respiratory virus and how he was not covered by Medicaid. In sharing the story, Omar claimed the child died. In a tweet on Thursday, Omar said his "death" was the "direct result of Trump’s cuts to Medicaid and CHIP. He is one of a million children to lose healthcare. Let that sink in." A nine month old died as a direct result of Trump’s cuts to Medicaid and CHIP. He is one of a million children to lose healthcare. Let that sink...

While Trump-haters keep obsessing over his tweets and "manners," we are witnessing the Democrats' ongoing rejection of President Donald Trump's constitutional right to govern and the people's sovereign choice in electing him. Let's check our priorities. You may regard Trump's tweet "#StopTheCoup" as political theater, but it's not, and we need to take notice. Ever since Trump's presidential announcement, leftists have been plotting and scheming against him. The polite elites pooh-poohed this as fevered conspiracy hype while promoting their dream narrative that Robert Mueller had the goods on Trump for conspiring with Russia to steal the election. As soon as...

Rep. Elise Stefanik was informed this week by Republican House Intelligence Committee staffers of a new diktat from Chairman Adam Schiff. It made the New York Republican’s jaw drop. Democrats had informed Republicans that, from here on out, the committee would produce a single, printed transcript of every interview it conducted as part of its impeachment inquiry. Only members of the three committees involved in the purported inquiry would be allowed to view that printout, and only in the presence of a Democratic staffer. Ms. Stefanik—an elected member of Congress who sits on the Intelligence Committee—will be babysat while reading...

From the beginning, the 2020 Democratic race has been a different kind of contest. Candidates aren't competing to see who can run America the most efficiently. That's the old politics. Instead, they're pledging to remake this country entirely: rip out the old America -- irredeemably tainted by racism, sexism and free enterprise -- and replace it with something completely new and different. At the heart of this effort is the promise of Medicare for All. You may have heard the phrase. The most popular Democratic candidates, Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, have both endorsed it. But what exactly does "Medicare...

Golly gee! Senator working SOOO hard! In their BUSY Tuesday-Thursday schedule, they held eight votes, four of which were cloture votes, so they really only voted on four things. Two treaties, an ambassadorship, and one Kentucky judge (Mitch is from Kentucky). Only 11 judges confirmed SINCE JULY.

Over at Vox today, Roge Karma examines the book “The Meritocracy Trap,” which posits that meritocracy — the idea that social and economic rewards should track talent, effort, and achievement — “produces radical inequality, stifles social mobility, and makes everyone — including the apparent winners — miserable.”

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is spearheading the resolution, which is backed by 44 GOP senators including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.). Graham, during a press conference with reporters, lashed out the House impeachment inquiry calling it a "secret proceeding" and a "rogue action" that "denies due process." "The process in the House today I think is a danger to the future of the presidency," Graham told reporters. He argued that under the current procedure Trump was "pretty much shut out," adding "God help future presidents." The GOP senators not cosponsoring the resolution as of Thursday afternoon,...

It has to be 'snowing' inside CBSNEWS for the SNOW JOB being put out on Joe Biden. Take a pretty face (Norah O'Donnell) and polish a piece manure, and you have a snow job. Unfortunately, things coming out of CBSNEWS, ABCNEWS, and NBCNEWS are either hit pieces on conservatives, or snow jobs on liberals. Brainwashing is another term for the manure/feces coming out of ABCNEWS, CBSNEWS, & NBCNEWS. To describe Joe Biden one just needs two important words: BLACKMAIL and BRIBERY. Joe Biden is also CORRUPT and a sleaze. That is why there is a need for 'SNOW JOBS' by...

A Pentagon official said Thursday that the U.S. is planning to send additional troops into northeastern Syria to protect oil fields from ISIS. The announcement comes as Russia, which has gained new power in the region, ordered all U.S. troops out of the country and called the remaining American troops an "occupying force." The announcement is a reversal of President Trump's decision to pull U.S. forces from the area, which sparked a Turkish cross-border offensive earlier this month. While most U.S. troops are withdrawing from Syria, the Pentagon is planning a major increase in firepower to protect the ones left...

The View's Meghan McCain trashed Florida GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz for leading members of his party into a closed-door hearing pertaining to the impeachment investigation into President Trump.
