Normal, Ill. (WEEK) – We are about a year away from seeing self-driving vehicles on the road in Normal and industry leaders at Rivian Automotive say people should be excited for more jobs. The future is now, or at least right around the corner for Rivian. On Sunday, residents got to see the pickup and SUV models with a glimpse of what’s to come with the company’s skateboard technology. This was the first time the public and Governor JB Pritzker saw the models up close. Pritzker believes Rivian will boost our local economy. “I’m thrilled though also for the people...

The current impeachment investigation by Congressman Adam Schiff is being conducted in a Star Chamber, according to Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, speaking Saturday on her Justice With Judge Jeanine program. The Star Chamber was an English court that was active from the late 15th century to the mid-17th century. It was originally established to ensure the fair enforcement of laws against socially and politically prominent people. But it became synonymous with social and political oppression through the arbitrary use and abuse of the power it wielded. That, Pirro said, is the situation that’s currently underway in this country. The...

There are many sound arguments about why the U.S. should not have withdrawn its modest presence. But the notion that the pullout empowers Tehran is belied by its leaders’ expressions of anxiety. The Middle East rarely offers a respite to ambitious nations, even Iran.

Our waterfowl season opened yesterday in California. Yes, we're still allowed to chase those fowl. I pulled a 2-dayer and just got home. I'm beat. As for the hunting, I got a few. Nothing lights out but just getting out with the dog was well worth the effort. Now, I'm ready for bed...LOL

CNN is upset because President Donald Trump's border control policies are working so well thanks in large part to the cooperation of the Mexican government. And it is that cooperation with Mexico that also irks Univision anchor Jorge Ramos from whom it is obvious CNN got many of their talking points. Oddly enough, however, CNN while being upset with Mexico, also concedes that Trump's border policies are working well. You can see that suprising concession in the very title of their Sunday story by Catherine Shoichet and Natalie Gallón (with talking points lifted from Jorge Ramos), "Why some say Mexico already...

Finally, some good news from Washington. That doesn't happen very often. Over the weekend, the Trump administration announced plans to withdraw the remaining American troops that are still stationed in Northern Syria. Of countless decisions Donald Trump has announced via Twitter, you'd think this would be the least controversial of all. There's no reason for Americans to remain in Syria. ISIS no longer controls the cities there. We have no plans to overthrow the Assad government either. So, there's no longer a mission, and yet Syria remains a dangerous place. Five Americans have been killed there just this year, and...

The conventional wisdom in American politics is that the coasts represent the economic future of the United States. Higher incomes and potential growth seem to be with cities like San Francisco, New York, and Seattle. Even in the aftermath of her 2016 loss, Hillary Clinton famously dismissed flyover country, saying, “I won the places that represent two-thirds of American gross domestic product. So I won the places that are optimistic, diverse, dynamic, moving forward.” In many ways, however, the coastal regions that Clinton lauds represent the equivalent of a personal finance ponzi scheme. While many topline statistics like average income...

Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson had “a couple of drinks with dinner” before driving home and slumping over in his vehicle, Mayor Lori Lightfoot disclosed Friday. One day after the police superintendent she inherited requested an internal affairs investigation of himself, Lightfoot refused to say whether Johnson should have been driving or whether he should have been given a sobriety test. Lightfoot told the Chicago Sun-Times she would await the outcome of the internal investigation before determining whether the rules were bent to protect the boss and whether to hold Johnson responsible.

“My country needs me. My army has given me an opportunity to serve" After a great deal of contemplation, soul-searching and consultation with area political leaders, David Bellavia will sit out running for Congress in NY27. Bellavia has long been considered to be the frontrunner if he were to run and has been the subject of intense speculation by the candidates who are already declared and some who are contemplating a run for the seat vacated recently by Chris Collins. The decision, now that it is known, will likely again unleash another political tidal wave as both declared and undeclared...

A judge has ruled a divorced Romanian mum must continue getting UK benefits even though she and her two children have never lived here. Mihaela Cornienco’s husband Bogdan, 45, worked as a meat hygiene inspector in Leeds and started claiming £150-a-month child benefit eight years ago. The marriage failed and his whereabouts are unknown. Now a Romanian judge has said Mihaela is still entitled to the cash. It said: “The divorce of the parents does not alter the fact that the children remain family members of their father, who lives and works in the UK.” The ruling means UK taxpayers...
