Wendy's Packs A Southern Punch with The Carolina Classic Burger
Franchising ^ | October 17, 2019

Posted on 10/20/2019 3:04:36 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

his week Wendy's is bringing its beloved Carolina Classic Burger to all restaurant menus across North and South Carolina. To pay homage to some of the best flavors of the South, this regional twist on a classic Wendy's burger is back by popular demand – but only for a limited time.

Featuring zesty chili, diced onions, mustard and tangy cole slaw topped on a Wendy's quarter pound fresh, never frozen beef patty*, customers can get it all with the Carolina Classic. Previously sold in Charlotte-area restaurants, this flavor-filled burger is now expanding to the rest of the state and throughout South Carolina for all to enjoy.

"The Carolinas are known for bold and flavorful food, which has always been the inspiration for our Carolina Classic burger," says Carolina Restaurant Group's Director of Marketing Kathy Alvis. "It's been a crowd favorite for years, so we're excited to bring this flavor combo to more Wendy's fans throughout the rest of the region this fall."

For convenience, the Carolina Classic Burger is available at participating Carolina Wendy's locations, through mobile ordering in the Wendy's app and is eligible for delivery using DoorDash. This burger was created to hit the spot, all the spots, so be sure to stop in and grab one before they're gone.

I just had one today. It was disappointing to say the least. Only a bit bigger that the cheapest McDonald’s hamburger.

"The Carolinas are known for bold and flavorful food..."

Yeah maybe, but Wendy's is NOT.

Sounds pretty tasty, if you can specify to hold the coleslaw. I’m not much for coleslaw, and especially not on a burger. But the rest sounds yummy.

They didn’t use a regular-sized Wendy’s single? (or perhaps they did - hmmm)

The USS Ranger wasn’t nuclear-powered was she? Wasn’t she an old Essex class carrier from World War II?

I've never had a franchise hamburger that lived up to the advertising of it. The photos are always more edible than the burger!

Lighting, coating with inedible oils and photoshop do a lot.

USS Ranger (CV-61) was a Forrestal Class conventionally powered super carrier commissioned in 1957, decommissioned in 1993 and scrapped in 2017.

The Clock diner in Greenville is pretty good. Tried it the first time yesterday when visiting the area.

Just about all the burger places have gone downhill. Many of them really so. It is not just nostalgia either. The first one I ever had was McDonald’s which opened in Ft. Walton around 1961.

They were 15 cents and that was cheap even in 1961. I was surprised how good they were and the fries were great. In a few years a Hardee’s opened and I loved their husky. It was so moist that they served them in waterproof wrappers.

I worked at Hardees in 1974 and we wrapped the Huskies in cellophane.

When I moved south an ordered a burger all the way, it came with chili, mustard, slaw, and onions. You can’t fix that, so I had to eat it.

Best burger EVER.
